Not good phở and not even the best in Athens. I think Just Phở is better. The phở was just not flavorful. It’s been a while but I think their bubble tea is pretty good although not the best I’ve had. I really like the atmosphere and the patio though.

Definitely the best Vietnamese and Phở that Athens has to offer. I switch between the well done beef phở and the lemongrass tofu(or beef) bun bowl. The phở broth is very flavorful as well and I love their shrimp salad rolls. The prices can be a bit high but I think that’s just a result of being one of only two Vietnamese restaurants in town; I do wish they put more meat in the phở as well but that’s not a dealbreaker at this point. They are definitely cheaper than Just Phở, and their service is fantastic. If you come regularly, they always remember you and the conversation is always good. I love this place and only go here for Vietnamese when I want some.

*disclaimer* My review is based solely on the Taro Shake. It is all I get there and it is AMAZING! I’m a bubble tea snob so that’s saying something. Very nice ladies at the counter, too. Friendly and fast. Just wish they offered a larger size!

Not sure how this phở place was still open and survived. Worst phở place I’ve ever had. Just Phở Restaurant down the street on Baxter is way better 200% guaranteed! I came here with my mom in the morning ordered two bowls of phở… the taste of the broth was bland, the only thing is that it was hot soup no specific taste of an authentic Vietnamese phở. We were very disappointed. The owner and servers were Vietnamese, so expectation of the food to be authentic was high, but expectations were no at all met. The service was OK, fairly slow.

I’m stuck on the seafood phở. I have only tried the tofu phở otherwise which was also pretty good. I need to branch out and try something new, but the seafood phở keeps bringing me back. I also like their tofu roll appetizer.

My wife and I eat here about twice a month or more and love it. Phở is wonderful, fresh in generous portions. Vermicelli noodle dishes are great as well. Vietnamese coffee is a great treat, if not a little pricey at $ 3.99. If you’re looking for an affordable and healthy option in downtown athens, you can’t go wrong. Don’t be scared to ask for things though, sometimes a little slow.

Yes, we can all agree that this isn’t Buford Highway or any other place abundant with Asian Cuisine. It’s Athens, we take what we can get in regards to passable ethnic food. That being said, while this isn’t amazing phở it gets the job done. Far superior to Just Phở in my opinion. The broth is better as well as the service. This place is run by a family who are always friendly whenever I’m there and it just lends to a more welcoming vibe. Their banh mis are so so. I don’t know why it is that neither place in town can make one comparable to places in other cities though. I can make a better one at home!(ok maybe not better but they’re fairly easy to make) Of course the location doesnt hurt. I will keep coming back .

My review is based on service. Came at 1100, when establishment is advertised as open. Wx is cold, dreary, and raining. Owner sees me outside his establishment. He tells me soup is not ready another 15−20min wait. I’m okay with that. I understand how phở should be prepared. I asked to come sit inside and wait. He wouldn’t let me. Said wait 15 mins and he would let me in. I’m out in the cold rain waiting. 20 mins go by, I’m still outside. F*ck that I’m done… strike out! I’m sure the food may be good, but with customer service like so, I will bring my patronage elsewhere.

Very crowded and poorly run. Was discouraged from ordering dishes like ginger beef because of wait times. They steered you to dishes like phở or noodles which are either ready or very quick. In guessing they were ill prepared for the people coming in for the all state band. That said, the food– after a pretty long wait, the shrimp on my daughters dish were burnt. I didn’t think we were waiting for them to burn food. I ordered the chicken curry on the waitress recommendation. On the heat scale I ordered it 3 out of 5. It had decent flavor but no great to speak of. I’m guessing Athens doesn’t have many(if any) phone houses. The ones we go to in Atlanta are just so much better then this. In summation, go elsewhere unless you absolutely must have some phở. For me, I’ll have my phở and other Vietnamese dishes elsewhere. Will not be back.

For some reason, though Yummy Phở has been around for a few years, we’ve always overlooked it. The place we chose for dinner downtown was closed for some reason, so we decided to try this out finally! We walked in and were seated right away. We just had water to drink but I noted that they have bubble tea shakes! Unfortunately I was too full to try one at the end, so we’ll just have to go back for that. I ordered the Yummy Special, which is vermicelli noodles with grilled chicken, shrimp, and an egg roll. It comes with a clear tangy sweet sauce that adds a nice flavor. The chicken delicious, but the shrimp was really plain. I’m not sure if it was seasoned or flavored at all. The egg roll was good, but not the nest egg roll I’ve had. Next time I may get it with just the chicken. We also ordered the stir fried noodles with Tofu. That was pretty good, too. It came with lots of veggies and had some good flavors. There was a condiment(some time of soy sauce ketchup) on the table that we added, but it was tasty on its own, too. I would give this four stars, but without going into details, we witnessed some issues with service and stereotyping by the waiter towards a couple different customers that we were turned off by.

Food is good. Love the outdoor seating imho the staff isn’t very friendly though so I usually try my other go to first. They don’t seem very kid friendly(and my kid is very well behaved)

A very good Vietnamese Restaurant, the Spring Rolls were tasty, and each had three large shrimp. The Phở Mit was quite good, the medium rare beef was tender and perfectly cooked. I had the small bowl which contained enough broth and noodles for two. I highly recommend this place for any Asian food lover.

Their food is usually pretty good but during the summertime their quality seems to have gone down. Hopefully I’ll have a better experience next time but today I was served spoiled shrimp. Service was also subpar as I had to grab my own menu from in from of the server who was on her phone! Also had to ask for water, and then again for straws. Overall they have pretty bad service and inconsistent, but often tasty, food. Giving 3 stars because I’ve had good experiences before but today would have to be a 1 star day.

What a surprise to find this place in athens. Very clean. The people are nice and the food was great. Chicken phở, banh mi and spring rolls were tasty. Better than in california where we are from.

Been on a business trip for a couple of weeks and was craving noodle soup. I found this spot because it was walking distant from my hotel. I had gone here after 3 and they were closed, so for those of you that want to know, they actually close from 3−5pm. I ordered the phở special. It had a few pieces of beef and meatballs. It wasn’t too special, but I felt like the broth was good enough for the phở. I would definitely come back if I need that Phở fix!

Yummy Phở isn’t exactly the most dignified name for a restaurant, but this very basic Vietnamese in downtown Athens gets the job done, more or less. It’s got a relatively pro forma Viet menu, with phở and other noodle soups, bahn mi, vermicelli bowls, spring rolls – nothing very unusual, but at least it isn’t loaded down with food from other Asian cuisines, the way some Asian joints in our current town do. Yummy’s phở had some plusses and minuses: the broth was rich and quite good, and the side condiments were plentiful and fresh. Oddly, no basil, though. And quantity of meat in the phở dac biet was a little wanting. And the allegedly medium-rare beef came out pretty much medium-well. But overall, a pretty solid bowl of phở. The wife really enjoyed her vermicelli bowl(bun) with lemongrass tofu. The tofu was cooked in a surprisingly complex and delicious sauce. Goi cuon(spring rolls) were pretty average. That means they were still pretty tasty. Yummy Phở is super-casual with a nice covered patio up front. FWIW, this was the location of the Michael Stipe-connected juice bar, Guaranteed, in the 1990s, and bunch of short-lived restaurants since then. Not a superior Vietnamese experience, but satisfying: 3.5 stars, rounded up.

I absolutely loved their patio area. Reminded me a lot of cafes in Vietnam and Cambodia. We tried the pork and shrimp salad rolls, phở, and lemongrass beef bun. The salad rolls were a bit bland; I’m used to restaurants including basil, rau ram, and other herbs in the rolls. While I was disappointed they did not have tripe for the phở(first time I’ve ever encountered that!), the excellent broth made up for it. I also enjoyed the meatballs very much. They weren’t as rubbery as other places and had a good amount of garlic in them. I wish they had provided more basil with the seasoning plate and there was no fish sauce on the table though in hindsight if I had asked for some I’m sure they would have brought it out. The bun was also different from what I’ve had in Vietnam and other parts of the US. Again not as many herbs, I’m not sure if they simply use less in an attempt to cut costs. They should consider growing the herbs out on their patio if that’s the case. The beef came in a thick, spicy sauce. I’m used to this dish being a dry marinated meat but the sauce was enjoyable. Overall I’d say the food isn’t the most authentic but it was good and hit the spot. The patio alone elevates it to a 4th star as it’s the perfect place to drink some 333 while people watching.

Nice campus place for lunch. Definitely Vietnamese owned and run. I think Just Phở is tastier and uses fresher ingredients(Bun here was very low on Do Chua, which looked a bit old and soggy, pale iceberg lettuce seemed to act as filler). Dishes are seasoned perfectly, though the spring rolls seem to lack basil, mint, and cilantro – the one I had tasted only of lettuce. The number of menu options seems to keep growing. Unlike Just Phở, they have combo options for rice and Bun dishes. They really ought to add a vegetarian egg roll and a veggie Banh Mi with more than Tofu(like mock meat and mushroom) to make them better competitors with Just Phở and to attract more vegetarians. My main gripe is that they – and the place before them – refuse to put Pâté on their Banh Mi claiming that customers wouldn’t like it. How do they know this? It’s never been tried! Veggie Pâté would be even better, but seems even less likely to happen here. The guy I spoke to about this asked if I had been to Vietnam and that was why I asked. Um, no. Just other Vietnamese Banh Mi places, like on the Buford Highway, or in NC. Or New York. Or Philly. Believe it or not, most Vietnamese places do offer pâté on their sandwiches. Just not in Athens, because they think the customers wouldn’t like it. And this is wrong – Farm Cart’s banh mi had it. Their latest incarnation, the Georgia Theatre restaurant has a wonderful veggi banh mi with egg which is better than YP’s.

I’ve been to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in much larger cities, and Yummy Phở can compete with the best of them. As far as phở in Athens, you definitely won’t find any better than here. My two favorites are the Phở Dac Biet(the house phở) and Phở Tai Bo Vien(meatball and medium rare beef phở). And if you order the large, make sure you’re hungry because that is one large ass bowl! Their spicy pork spring rolls are bomb! For sure the best I’ve ever had… and combined with their awesome peanut sauce, it’s heavenly. The waitstaff are very nice nice and helpful, so if you have any questions ask away because they’re more than happy to help. The kitchen staff knows what they’re doing for sure. Last time I went, the head chef came out and was pretty damn surprised how spicy I season my phở. But I say if you’re not crying, you’re not trying!
