I hate to give a nature center a bad review but when I recently visited I found several situations where the creatures living within seem to be housed incorrectly. In the slider turtle exhibit next to the sea turtle I found that one of the turtles was dead in the aquarium. I understand that things happen but at the facility I volunteered at in San Diego there was a check-in with all living creatures hourly. The snake exhibits are too small lengthwise for the size of the snake and not protected in any way from small hands banging on glass(except for a routinely ignored sign) nor do they provide the snakes with a larger area of shelter for the privacy that they crave. They need to be in a different display off the ground and out of arms reach STAT. They’ll live longer and be infinitely happier. The children I was with were concerned about them. The bees seem happy with their ability to come in and out. The sea turtle looks a bit stressed but I’ve only seen them in larger rehab centers so maybe I’m projecting here. Otherwise the place is clean, has interesting presentations, etc. On the smaller side but still informative and creative for the limited topics presented. Could see and interact with everything in about 20 minutes. With it being kid centric, I just feel the snakes need a change.

Excellent place to take young kids. The indoor exhibits are fun, educational and free! It is a great place to spend a hot afternoon. Our two year old son loves the place even more than the Georgia Aquarium! The sea turtles are by far my favorite!
