Thus far, extremely dissatisfied with this company! Slow to respond to sewage backup, main sewer line … Sewage coming out under bushes front yard. There have been numerous other problems with the property … Slum Lords? Hope not, but so far, very poor impression. One star goes to the girls in the front office who, thus far, have been very polite and professional!

Worst rental company I’ve EVER dealt with. I would give rent Athens negative stars if I could. If you want to be cheated out of your money, lied to, and stolen from, then rent Athens is the place to do business. They will do nothing to help you with any problem you have with your unit. If you call them and ask them to replace something or have a problem fixed, they will say they are sending someone out, and no one will show. Repeat this about 3 – 4 times for any given situation. We had a lady bug infestation in our house, so we called them to se what they could do about it. Their response? «Sorry, it’s just that time of the year. Try to spend time outside of your house» the house I’m PAYING for? Just absolutely the most ridiculous company to ever exist. A message from tenants and landlords alike: Save your time, money, and keep yourself happy by choosing anyone but Rent Athens.

I had a rat get inside my dryer and die while I rented a unit from them. Moved the dryer to my front porch and finally got in touch with the maintenance department a few days later. The guy told me to move the dryer back inside my apt and that the smell would go away after a few days. I told him there’s no way I’m doing that he told me I’d be held responsible for the dryer if it was damaged or stolen. WOW!

It would be my recommendation that you not do business with this company. I am writing this review from the landlord side of the property management agreement. From the outset, I was treated like a nuisance by the workers at this firm. My questions and concerns were not responded to and I received thousands of dollars in repair bills only to have tenants complain that I was supplying a unit that looked like section 8 housing. My supposition is that they billed me and never even did the repairs on the unit. They also would switch my rental income without warning. For example, they would say I had tenants secured for school year 2012 – 2013 at $ 900/month and then when I got my first rent check it would be for $ 800/month. When I asked about it, if I got a response at all, it would be something like, «Well, um, yes, we put different tenants in your unit and they only wanted to pay $ 800»…um, what? This company used to manage The Woodlands of Athens. I am not sure what all went down, but the HOA board apparently fired the company and they were off the grounds in a very short time(24 hours I believe.). When I bought the property, as an investor, I lived close enough to manage it myself and I had a trusted repairman who was sort of my eyes and ears and would let me know when the garbage disposal didn’t work because the tenants dumped their fish tank rocks down the drain versus it just not working properly. When I had to move across the country for work I turned it over to management and unfortunately this was the company. I am still unraveling what all happened with my past and current tenants. I never received a move in or out inspection during the four years they managed the Woodlands units and I only just learned from the current manager I had a right to ask for one! Who knew about a little thing called customer service?! They treated me like an endless money supply – total disrespect, disregard, and terrible dishonesty with me and my tenants.
