Mellow Mushroom

Went in for a quick bite bc my kids are super picky. We ordered the small pizza ½ cheese & ½ pep, the waitress brought all pep. Ugh! I ordered 2 kids drinks and was charged for adult drinks. The crust was overdone & almost burnt. Oh well, maybe tmrw we’ll find something better. #fail

Not the best restaurant in the chain and even more disturbing watched a roach like bug run across the table.

This was a restaurant that we just stumbled on and it was meant to be. On our first night in Athens, we didn’t know where we wanted to eat, but something drew us to this pizza joint? And our waitress, Emma was outstanding. She made our trip so much better. Wrote down a bunch of cool places to check out while in town.
To top off our amazing waitress, was the ambiance and food. There was a DJ playing music and trivia. Kind of fun to listen to the questions. On the walls are these HUGE TV screens playing sports and other shows. We were thoroughly entertained. Now to the food. Ordered a salad to share and a pizza. All so good. Had a beer because why not? I’m a new fan to Mellow Mushroom. Next time I’m in Georgia going to make sure to hit is up.

Simply the best pizza in Athens. We love the calzones and pretzels too. Can be a little slow when crowded. But well worth it.

I normally love mellow mushrooms but this location needs help. Came on a Sunday afternoon, place almost empty yet the food took way too long. Ordered a calzone and wings, the calzone came out first then when we were done the wings did. Wings had good flavor but too soggy needs to be crisp or broiled, the skin was gross.

Ordered a house calzone. Took 35 minutes to arrive at the table… Luke warm and undercooked.
Apparently the staff and management don’t yet get the concept of a lunch hour. We’ll here’s fair warning to all– do not go to lunch here unless a) you’re not hungry, b) have all afternoon to waste, c) don’t really care what condition your food arrives in

If I could rate then MINUS FIVE, I would. Saturday afternoon 5:45 and very few people in the restaurant. At 6:27 still no food so we had to leave to be at a concert nearby. Excuse was «backed up with catering.» Whatever — no way a 14″ pizza should take 45 minutes. Not a happy first visit to Mellow Mushroom Athens.

Great food but slooowww service. Not to mention we found a hair in our pizza after waiting almost 2 hours

Love this chain’s food and unusual variety of pizzas and such. Typically a laid-​back environment, but this place was e-​x-​t-​r-​e-​m-​e-​l-​y slow (almost 2 hours from sit down until finished meal). And it was a random week day for lunch. The server disappeared for long stretches of time, but think they had kitchen problems too. The meatball trio was cold and meals were delivered one or two at a time for a table of 9. Some were finished eating before others even got their food. Still tasty, but NOT a place to take a business group.

Can I just say I had the most delicious pizza I’ve ever had in my life.
We had the lasagna pizza added pepperoni and the server suggested the garlic aioli on the side.
Never been to a mellow mushroom and this was just fantastic.
Service was great, very inviting and laid back.

Very high quality pizza. The veggie supreme is fantastic. Excellent crust, too. Expensive, but excellent. 4 bec of price.

Another GREAT Mellow Mushroom. I was in on a game day so it was packed but received great service from the bar and as always the food was high quality. However, you are in Athens and there are a lot of choices.

Maybe the waiter was just trying to keep up with the Mellow Mushroom «theme» by acting like a complete stoner? But if you get a kid with long hair, a backwards hat, that keeps calling you «dude» and «bro» and keeps forgetting everything– Good luck!

This is our «we-both-can’t-pick-a-place-to-eat-so-lets-just-go-here» joint. Went on a Saturday night and had to only wait 15 min for a table for two.
We always get the same thing here and always leave satisfied!
Their Thai pizza is out of this world. We each get the small size of this since it was more reasonable to get individual ones than share a medium one. That sweet sauce they drizzle on goes just right with the thin crust and chopped chicken.
The wait time is kind of ridiculous but oh so worth it.

Big place in one half of a beautiful old building in downtown Athens. Hostess and server were nice and attentive. Pizza and salad were both good – consistent with other MMs I’ve been to. They had $ 2 Miller High Lifes on draft. I was hoping that since this one was in a college town they’d have some better specials. All in all a good meal…

I do like their pizza – better than Transmet, in fact. But I am docking them because an appetizer we had – stuffed mushrooms, turned out to be a stuffed mushroom with some cheese, too vinegary and way overpriced at $ 9 (it’s worth about $ 4). Service tends to be a bit slow. I do think their pizza is pretty good though.

I went with two other people, both wanted wings. I had a calzone, which tasted fine but both of the people I was with split 20 wings and both were sick within an hour of eating. It was trivia night so maybe that explains a slightly slow service. Overall, if you want pizza or really anything other than the wings, Mellow Mushroom will be good. Avoid the wings while there though.

Considering this isn’t NY pizza, I think it’s pretty good. Though not my idea, we ordered a Caesar salad pizza — as well as the old stand-​by, pepperoni — and I have to say, salad on a pizza isn’t half bad!
Good spinach and Greek salads, decent drinks, friendly service and despite prices that are a bit steep, I give Mellow Mushroom a thumbs up.

We came in for dinner tonight and had the best experience! Our server (I think his name was Parker) was absolutely wonderful and we had a great time chatting with him. We had the Bayou Blue (my favorite) and as usual it was phenomenal, as he said, «its like gumbo on a pizza.»
Seriously. Try the Bayou Blue or forever regret your useless existence.
Like all Mellow Mushrooms, the ambience was fun and inviting, and the staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the different beers and food on offer. Excellent experience, and I can’t wait to come back to the south and try it again!

I’ll start with the positives:
We had a party of 10 people and were seated together, so its good for groups. The waitress was able to seat us within minutes.
It was also nice that there wasn’t just sports on the TVS, they had some local news and a reality show (though I only watched the news)
I’ve eaten at mellow mushrooms before even that location and this time the service was just awful.
Our server was really rude. She was friendly at all. She seemed very stressed and was running around… it looked like they were understaffed. We were eating during the lunch rush. I mean I understand that you may be understaffed and its the lunch rush but I mean please be friendly.
We ordered and I got a sandwich with added avocado. Another girl at my table ordered the same thing. When we got our food she forgot to add the avocado and brought it out to us in massive chunks the size of my finger. She was pretty cold about the whole situation, and she was the one who brought it up.
We got our tickets and she took them up and then it took about 10−15min just to get our money back because she had to take orders, deliver beers, and seat a couple of folks.
All in all not a good experience. Doubt I will go back.
