I was told this shop had a lot of local art so went down to find a special gift. Honestly unless I was buying for my grandma I couldn’t find much. Candles, soaps, over-​priced knick knacks and with Athens being an art town the art available was less than impressive. I really wanted to like the shop and support a local business but I ended up going into a shop next door (also locally owned) instead to find a gift. More local art and less grandma’s living room would be good.

I visited this shop today and I was underwhelmed. I’d expected them to have lots of handmade items, but the majority looked mass-​produced. Also, I thought the prices for items such as soaps were very high. Still, they did have a good selection of soaps and perfume.

I love this store, and Devan is such a wonderful shop owner and so friendly and hospitable. I love supporting local community businesses, and she’s a dog owner to boot! She has wonderful products for beauty and relaxation, which I’m always seeking. I love that you can also purchase gift certificates and leave a wish list with the store in case someone wants to buy a present for you:) Can’t wait to go back!

Frontier is my second most favourite place to shop in the eclectic downtown Athens area. Shops like Frontier are why I’d keep visiting my then-​girlfriend-​now-​wife at her campus instead of insisting she come to Atlanta on the weekends. These shops just make the college atmosphere of Athens.
(along with the bars, but those are different reviews)
Frontier has a wide array of gifts that are very affordable and fairly unique for the area. They don’t seem to have as many local artisan items as their cross-​street competitor but the two stores compliment each other well with their selections.
My only complaint about Frontier is that I can never catch them when they’re open.
