Second time ordering– service was prompt both times. Fried calamari was really really good. Well cooked & i liked the sauce they drizzled on top. I wasn’t expecting the sauce, but i liked it a lot. I think i had the curried puff the first time i ordered– nothing crazy. Same as all other thai restaurants. Tom yum chicken fried rice– very tasty tho not spicy. Rice texture was perfect, not wet like the other thai place down the street. This is now my new favorite thai place in the neighborhood– after trying 2 others nearby and not being satisfied. Im curious to try other fried rice dishes & curry dishes. I hope they dont disappoint…

Worst service EVER!!! Walked in pick up and the waitress told me 10 to 15 minutes and waited for almost an hour!!! Unbelievable!!!

Yum Curry puffs and pad thai. I didn’t like the fried fish starter.

There are a ton of thai restaurants in Astoria, but most of the ones I’ve tried have fallen flat. I felt a *WAVE* of relief last night when we were served our meal at this adorable restaurant. Slightly off the beaten path on 31st Street past Ditmars Blvd., Wave Thai offers a wide variety of dishes at comparably low prices. We started with the Bangkok Wings($ 5) and Seafood Fritters($ 4), both of which were served piping hot and fried to perfection with sweet chili sauce on the side. I enjoyed the Red Hot String Bean Wok dish w/Shrimp($ 11)(sidenote: I asked for this dish spicy and still found it extremely mild. it would have been even better with more heat. TRUSTME, I CANHANDLEIT) and the boy had the Crispy Duck w/Sweet Tamarind Sauce($ 16), which he said was deliciously fatty and cooked to perfection. We washed it all down with with some bottles of Singha($ 4). From the cool wall decorations, to the cute pillow seats, the ambience was so on point. Service was friendly, and the food was well-priced. We’ll definitely be back, and next time I know you’ll kick the heat up a notch when I request«very spicy». ;)

I have been coming here SO often, since I started working in the area. It’s actually getting a little ridiculous how often I order from them(and I’m about to head over soon) but they give you a pretty solid amount of food for a really low price, so why not? I pretty much get pad Thai every time but their specialty juice drink is also awesome. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for a great lunch special.

Great food at awesome prices! I got the green curry with vegetable tofu and added the house hot sauce to it. Made it super yum! Without the hot sauce it was just eh, too bland for my Indian tongue. The curry came with a side of rice and was only $ 9. Only disappointment was how my tofu curry had like 2 pieces of tofu. And I also for baby corn for an extra $ 1 but definitely not worth it, they’re stingy with the extras and protein. The ambience is cute and very date-like. I came with friends but it was a little too quiet and romantic for us. I’d definitely return on a date though!

This place is the best Thai i have in astoria. The basil fried rice with beef is the die for! The spicy calamari so good, the wings are on point! And the price is great

I like the service, the ambience of the place and the authenticity of the food. As I have only tried the steamed dumplings and fried rice, I will be eager to come back for more. So far, it’s a thumb-up!

First time popping in, just to have a little snack. First off, you can’t argue with $ 4 Singha! The ambiance is charming, small, cozy, with some nice outdoor seating. The food I had was excellent, particularly for the price. Will definitely come back for lunch, as I hear they have a nice special. Recommend!

last experience at wave was bad, in part because of the chicken quality of the pad thai(over-cooked, felt rubbery), and partially because of the way the staff handled a request to pay by credit card. initially(and for several minutes of back-and-forth), my waitress insisted on cash because the order didn’t reach a certain threshold amount. i understood that, but asked if she could make an exception, explaining that i didn’t see any mention of a credit card minimum. she walked inside the restaurant, and removed a small cardholder from in front of a sign, which indicated the rule. i smiled and laughed, and suggested that that probably wasn’t the best location for it. more back and forth, and after at least 5 minutes of giving me a hard time and leaving to supposedly speak with a manager, she took a card — the only form of payment i had anyway.

I used to here often last year when I was around Astoria. Idk why but when I used to takeout food, the price used to be cheaper. Pretty weird there. Food: Pad Thai is okay here, tasted better, Fried Calamari is good but they are cheap with it and give you a small amount. Fried Spring Rolls are good as well. The Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken is okay, the rice is barely favorable and the Chicken tastes hard and weird. The Pad Ke Mao is not good to me at all. The flavors are all wrong. Thai Ice Tea are good here. The Fried Bananas with Green Tea Ice Cream was good but the ice cream barely had flavor. The Mango Salad is very acidulous and too sour for me. Would I recommend this place? It’s better than Thai Elephant which is on the same block. Food is mediocre. If you’re desperately hungry then sure go on ahead hahaha.

One of the best Thai food in Astoria. I always love their summer roll(appetizer) and pad won sen. It’s very delicious and tasty. The only thing that I’m not okay are the lights. It’s very dark and would love if it’s more lighting but overall everything is good. Definitely coming here again.

Best Thai food in Astoria. I’ve tried several but I love theirs the most. I can’t give the last star because most of the time it’s a small portion and I’m not a fan of the salad dressing(it’s the only one they have). It’s too peanuty. Love the curry puffs and shrimp rolls! Fried rice is pretty good!

This place has really good food. My favorite is the street noodle with American broccoli. Overall, the service is fast and they really cater to your order and make the food the way you want it which I really like about this place. Most of the servers are fast and friendly and a big change from how it used to be. Back in 2012, service was really slow but now it’s great and very Improved and attentive. Love this place. A must go-to Thai restaurant in the Ditmars area.

I order delivery from here every few months, and find it to be a reliable but unremarkable Thai restaurant. Some dishes are pretty good while others are forgettable or worse. Based on Unilocal review, I tried the spicy peanut curry(with shrimp). I found this to be a very tasty and balanced dish; as other reviewers mention there is a yummy but not overpowering peanut taste. The dish has a bit of bite, and a good amount of tender vegetables. The dish had six pieces of well cooked shrimp. The pad thai and pad ke mao are fine, not memorable in a good or bad way. I suggest not ordering the tom yum soup. It is exceptionally oily, has way too many vegetables, is tart to the point where it is difficult to drink, and is overall almost inedible for me. It’s not the simple and more subtle version you find at most other restaurants with just a clearish tangy broth with maybe shrimp and mushrooms. It’s packed with unnecessary random vegetables and flavors. Delivery within a few blocks is generally quick, and the service in house is courteous though sometimes slow. Not a bad place for Thai take out or dine in, if you’re in the area, but not worth hopping on a train for.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant! It is decently priced and the atmosphere is cool. Every time I bring a friend there they ask me to take them there again. :)

The novio and I loved our short trip to WaveThai. We decided on doing some takeout, and food was ready in under 15 minutes. Ordered the Peanut Curry Chicken and a Chicken Ki Mao based on all the previous Unilocalers’ recommendations. We were completely blown away by the flavor in both of these dishes! His only complaint was that there wasn’t much protein in the curry dish, and it looked very watered down, but we had some chicken at home that he tossed in, and he was back to happily chomping away at his dish. I really liked the Ki Mao, and I’d gladly order again. No issues for me with the portion sizes. Total for the 2 orders was less than $ 20. I think that is totally worth it!

I’ve always said that authenticity matters. The servers were speaking Thai to one another, so that definitely earned it another star. Food: unfortunately, the sweetness level in the Green Curry was a little high for me. It seems as though the restaurant tailored traditional Thai curry taste for diners in this area. The calamari, however, was phenomenal! It was so different from what I have experienced elsewhere and it’ll be worth a second visit just to have the calamari again! Service: impeccable, the servers were always around! I’ve noticed that other customers were quite demanding and difficult to please. I’m glad that the servers were so patient. Décor: dark place with low lighting. «Romantic», I guess.

I’ve dined here pretty regularly for a few months, and the staff have gotten to know what I like, and I appreciate that they remember me. Peanut curry with rice noodles or sticky rice is my go-to dish; green and penang curry, ki mao and glass noodles are amazing. I like their spring and summer rolls, mango and papaya salads, and Thai iced coffee. Beerlao is cheap. The only suggestion I can give is to offer an unfried tofu option. Keep it up, Wave!

I’ll admit I’ve only had the Pad Kee Mao here but the flavors are right and the noodles are very tasty. There’s a decent dose of veggies in the regular order although I’d say that the lunch special portion is a bit lacking in size & veggies(doesn’t include all the veggies listed! Mostly just cabbage and onions with a leaf or two of basil.) The salad that comes with the lunch special is mostly iceberg lettuce with a bit of red onion covered in a peanut sauce that was just okay. Spring roll was tiny but tasty. Can’t complain too much though since it was a $ 7 meal but I’d probably just order the regular entrée size next time. Anyway, a decent thai joint for the neighborhood; I’m glad it’s so close to me!
