4.5 You can’t go wrong with this place. Great food, ambience, clean facilities, and friendly staff. Had the privilege of dining here possibly umpteen times or more and it’s never been a disappointment!

This place has one of the best Turkish food I’ve ever tried. Pretty big spot and they have an outdoor section too. The sigara boregi are pan fried phyllo scrolls stuffed with feta and are very delicious. I got the mixed grill which has a combination of different types of meat. It was amazing, had tremendous taste, and it’s very filling.

Excellent food, service, décor the whole nine yards. Food was quick and fresh, there was always a waiter/waitress available ready to address our needs/concerns. Also very affordable.

Love this place! The food is always very fresh ! I recommend going with the hummus & pita bread it’s amazing best pita bread in Astoria. I’ve tried the lamb gyro, chicken gyro & lamb chops all were cooked to perfection! Five star– delivery was also fast and efficient!

I’m a huge fan of Mediterranean food and this Turkish joint does not disappoint. The mixed grill platter is awesome especially for us meat lovers this is the holy grail. Their Kofta is not bad either. If you’re a meat lover, have good taste, call yourself a foodie and value your money then try this place out.

First time trying Turkish food and I must say I’m not only pleasantly surprised on how delicious it was but also the service here was so friendly and attentive! I’m already ready to come back tomorrow to try other items. The Turkish coffee was a treat and strong, and the desserts were sweet.

Will have to dine in, hoping to round this review to a full five stars! LOVED every bite flavor throughout the entire mixed grill, the rice, and the generous personal loaf of turkish bread. Divine! Delivery was pretty fast, and everything was the perfect temperature when it arrived. Will order many times over, and recommend you give them at least one try!

Sunday Brunching for two please :) Mediterranean style. Hubby and I are big fans of kababs and shesh kabab’s. Everything on the menu look delightful, so we order a mix platter that consist of all their meats. with the help of their white yogurt sause and a marinara sause it helped with my taste buds. For me the meat was a tad bit on the bland side for seasoning. Will be giving it another try as their service was great, the atmosphere for a restaurant in the middle of the busy streets of Astoria was a nice take and plus points they have a outside patio deck open for nice summer days.

First off, this place is not BYOB. That was partially one of the reasons we were going to go here. Though we were bummed about the no alcohol this place serves we did stay to grab some dinner. We ordered the large chicken Shish kebab and a plate of hummus with pita. Interestingly enough this place does not serve your stereotypical flat pita bread but something similar to fresh baked bread with what appears to be sesame seeds on top. I’m a fan of hummus and pita/bread so I enjoyed it. Would I come again? I’m not completely sure. I’d say this is average Mediterranean food, nothing amazing.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, in addition to lots of indoor seating, there is a nice large outdoor section outside. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I don’t know what exactly falls under the Turkish food category, so we had no clue what to order on the menu, he was very patient and nice, explained things and answered all our dumb questions. This place is BYOB which is awesome, we didn’t know when we got there, but our nice waiter informed us and advised where we could go to pick up some beer. The Food: Complimentary Pita for the table which was warm and delicious! I love spicy, but my husband can’t handle too much. So our waiter suggested bringing some spicy on the side for us. I think in general spicy is better cooked into the food, but it was nice on the side as I got to put it on everything we ordered. Chicken and Lamb Adana Kabob $ 13 Was nice to be able to try both chicken and lamb, both were very good with great flavor. I honestly don’t know if I would choose one over the other. Comes with a side of rice and salad which is a perfect complement to the meat. Lahmacun — $ 4 Is a Turkish styled pizza. Flat bread dough topped with ground lamb and chopped tomato, peppers, onion and parsley. Saw a bunch of pictures of this and wanted to try it out. Is an amazing starter or side for $ 4. It’s very thin, but quite delicious. Loved it with the spicy sauce Patatesli Pide $ 10.50 Is a potato pide. A thick dough crust stuffed with potato. Is a vegetarian dish and was quite filling because of the potato. Great texture and flavor. Really enjoyed our meal here. The food was good, staff was nice, byob always is a plus as well! Would definitely recommend this place to others and come back here again!

Finally decided to dine here with my boyfriend because we were too lazy to go elsewhere. I’m so glad that we did. Upon entering we decided to sit in the garden. Our server noticed the table next to us was smoking and immediately changed our table. We got the sigara bouregi which are basically mini egg rolls filled with feta cheese. The Turkish pizza The shepherds salad Chicken gyro plate Chicken Adana plate. Each dish was very delicious, fresh, and flavorful. The servers were very kind and attentive On our way out we picked up some almond pudding and rice pudding for dessert.(Sooo good) Since we live in the neighborhood we will definitely be back

This Turkish restaurant is an excellent addition to the Ditmars restaurant scene. Consistently delicious food, large portions, courteous service and a great outdoor space make this a solid restaurant choice. My favorites here are the ezme and the kefta. Lamb chops are good, but a little pricy for the portions. The iskandar is a little sweeter than I prefer. The bread and hot sauce that come with orders are great! FYI they also have breakfast options.

The calamari salad was great! The calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy but just the right bite. The greens was delicious. Ordered the shish kebab which was equally amazing. The chicken meat was tendered and with simple seasoning. We came here for the first time but this will definitely be one of our favourite restaurant in Astoria for a long time. Not forgetting the space was well decorated with a nice seat covering which reminded me of Turkey.

Truva alas brings Turkish cuisine to Astoria. For the Astoria newbies it will be way too long of a lecture to describe the significance of this. Just chalk it up to ancient animosities stemming from an over 428 year occupation of the Greeks by the Ottomans. What boggles my mind is why aren’t my fellow Greeks equally upset about the over 1,500 year occupation by the Romans?(from the Battle of Corinth 146BC to 1453). But I digress… I love the lamb doner/gyro/shawarma plate with salad and their magnificent rice pilaf. Admittedly I have been uncharacteristically reluctant to sample much else because I enjoy the doner. However on my «must try soon» list are the adanas as well as other fares. No meal is complete without a «Kazan dibi»(translates into the bottom of the pan) and Turkish coffee. This is a light cream dessert that has been intentionally burned and served bottom side up. The coffee has fine ground beans that settle at the bottom of the dainty serving cup; you aren’t supposed to drink the gook found at the bottom. In my village on the island in Greece that was featured in the Mamma Mia movie, head to toe black clad old ladies turn their mostly depleted coffee cups upside down so that the coffee grinds at the bottom of their cups slowly seep onto the serving plate – about five minutes. Lines are formed as the coffee grinds make their way from the bottom(think glacial movements). The ladies then proceed to tell one’s future by right-siding the cups and interpreting the lines left by the coffee grinds. Undoubtedly this learned ancient practice is taught to the Greeks by the occupying Turks. Keeping with my island’s tradition, I did likewise to the delight of the Turkish waitresses but to the dismay of the dish washer. I have no idea on how to interpret the lines so I made things up – which I suspect that the aforementioned old ladies do likewise. There’s one constant interpretation that I’ve observed if you happen to be a young, single woman: the old ladies reading the cup always see in your future a mysterious, tall, dark and handsome man and a long journey… There’s also dining al fresco which I haven’t yet taken advantage of because of the weather; either too humid or too rainy. Perhaps on my return later in the week.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The backyard patio is awesome! The tree in the patio covers the seating area perfectly, allowing a cool breeze to pass by while you’re eating and also functions as a shield from the sun. My boyfriend and I ordered a hot turkish tea, arugula salad, hummus dip, lamb chops, and chicken gyro. Turkish Tea– I ordered a large tea, but it was a fairly small cup of tea. I was disappointed by this, as it tasted bland, almost like Lipton. Arugula salad– Delicious and all ingredients were fresh! They were definitely generous with their portion sizes in terms of the salad. Chicken gyro– This was definitely the highlight of the meal. The chicken was tender, cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. Lamb chops– Good, but the chicken was better. Hummus dip– Yummy! The bread that came with it paired perfectly with the hummus. To sum up my experience, the service was very slow despite the numerous workers. However, I will definitely be returning for the delicious food and the amazing backyard patio!

I stopped by with hubby yesterday to pick up dinner. Now they have opened up their backyard, it is quite nice and spacious. We had the mixed grill platter and it was delicious. The chicken was juicy, tender and had a nice smokey flavor. The lamb was flavorful and well done. I really like their rice and bread. The Lahmacun was super yummy, my husband raved about it. Been here twice, both times take outs. The service on the first visit was spotty. It was during their first week of grand opening and the staff where probably inexperienced and a bit confused. The gentleman(manager?) who took my order, manned the cash register and answered two order phone calls while I waited(even though I got there before the calls took place, hence their orders were sent into the kitchen before mine). He was faintly aloof but he apologized, still it made me wonder why can’t someone else take the phone call while he attended me(two wait staff were just standing by the counter). The kitchen/grill staff were nice though, they smiled at me while I waited. Yesterday, the kitchen/grill staff were again very pleasant and checked in with me while they prepared my order. Unfortunately, the previously mentioned gentleman was still kind of aloof with me. Maybe he doesn’t like my face or something… It’s alright next time I’ll just order delivery or eat in and limit my interaction to only their servers. If you haven’t tried Truva Café and Grill yet, I suggest you do! You wouldn’t be disappointed. 4.25 stars. I need to try the rest of the menu! Specially the içli köfte, which is the Turkish kibbeh(quipe, for Latin American due to the Lebanese diaspora…)

My fiancé(from Turkey) and I gave this place a try after Turkish friends insisted we go. We’ve been hoping for a Turkish spot in the neighborhood for years, and our prayers have been answered! In the week since we discovered it, we’ve been here 4 times! I’ve had the manti and kofte for dinner. Both were mind blowing. We’ve come twice for brunch — real Turkish breakfast is a real treat! The staff is friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is modern and authentic. My fiancé says it’s the best Turkish food he’s had in New York!

I saw they opened up last week and I had a Seamless coupon so I decided to order in today, with the rain and all. I ordered the large chicken gyro and it came with rice, salad and unexpected rice pudding dessert. First off, I’m not sure why there’s a small and large order. The portion was about what I’d get from any other Mediterranean spot in the neighborhood. But then again, the price for the large meets that mark. There wasn’t anything special about the chicken. It came with pretty bland tzaziki and hot sauces. And I would’ve preferred to have my bread wrapped next time instead of just letting it sit in the bag. The salad was pretty good though and the rice pudding was good but it’s also unexpected trouble. Overall, I know Truva is Turkish but if I were craving Mediterranean specifically, I think I’d rather go to BZ Grill or Shawarmania.
