This place is horrible !!! Do not waste your time for a failure of beauty ! I recently came here to get my eyelashes done I think the ladies are worried about a tip rather than performing their job properly. Once I arrived home after my lashes were done I noticed she glued a majority of them to my eyelid instead of between my lashes do not come here I beg u !!!

My go to threading salon. Don’t expect any frills here, and I don’t know that I would try anything other than the threading services… but they do a fabulous job on my eyebrows. 5 minutes and $ 5(before tip) and I feel like a new woman. Not much communication, but I don’t need that. They always ask if you want your upper lip done, so don’t be offended. I always say no and have never been pushed further. Threading ANYWHERE hurts… so don’t blame that on the girls, beauty is pain!

I came in for lips and eyebrow threading. They did an ok job on both. I also got a facial to try it out since its only $ 25 for deep cleansing. Stay away from getting a Facial at this place! 1. They take you down into the basement of the place where there are other people in same room as you 2. They left me down there for 20 min un –attended, I had to get up and go back upstairs to ask if they forgot about me! The girl said they needed my pores to open after steaming. I’ve gotten over 20 facials and I’ve never had to wait for my pores to open that long. 3. They use cheap facial products that you can just buy yourself ‘oil of olay’ 4. Very harsh with the cleansing of my skin, I felt like the girl was going to poke my eye out. 5. Downstairs area where you get the facials is disgusting, they have dead bugs in the lights and none of their towels looked washed. This was a huge mistake, you get what you pay for. Never again will I get a facial here!

For $ 5, they made my eyebrows look amazing with a combination of waxing and threading. They don’t say much(other than to each other), and are a bit rough and the salon is very small and cramped– but I’m very particular about my eyebrows and some of the bigger, more expensive salons in the area could never seem to get them right– and here they did an amazing job. I’ll definitely be back I’m sure.

Pretty good for the price. My wife goes here for a quick touchup and says she is happy with the quality for the price. They offer all kids of facial services but the eyebrows are the only thing she has done here. Its $ 5 and they almost never have a wait. The ladies are nice and they keep the place clean despite it being a but rundown. Overall its a good place for touchup.

I’ve been coming here a long time the only problem I have is there seems to be a lack of consistency with the women who work here. Just when I get used to a particular person doing my eyebrows who is good I have to deal with the fear of a new person messing them up. The good thing is that coming here bi-weekly for the better part of over 2 years they have only messed my eyebrows up once.

My girl did a fantastic job with my brows and I find that most of the time people don’t get it right the first time without really knowing the person, being comfortable with their face shape, brow preferences as far as shape/length and thickness go. When I took a seat in the girl’s chair I gave her the following instructions, «not too thin and with a slight arch» and off we were — 5 minutes they looks fantastic! Plus for only $ 5, that’s great! I’m pretty sure her name was Sabhu :). Reason I gave Threading Way 4 stars instead of 5? I was asked like 3 times if I wanted other services. My mind was not going to change after I said ‘No” the first time — I worked in C2B sales lady and asking a customer over and over(without any attempt to even switch it up) does not work. In all though I was pleased and will come here to do my brows for now on when I’m in Astoria.

First off, who categorized this as «Local Flavor»? Secondly, I’m giving this place 3 stars for exactly two reasons, which are not relevant to waxing or threading abilities and results: 1. I wasn’t charged extra for how much extra wax/material they had to use both times I was here. I am a hairy procrastinator… and maybe this isn’t a thing when it comes to waxing, but I know hair salons often adjust prices for length of hair. The second waxer had asked if I would mind if another woman helped out. In theory, I wouldn’t have, but I didn’t think I could handle the pain. 2. Open late, every day. That’s how I ended up in here at all. I know it’s primarily a threading salon, but I’ve had a weird feeling about this place and didn’t trust getting my eyebrows done here. Word of advice: If you don’t feel comfortable somewhere, don’t get the service done.(I don’t feel comfortable putting my eyebrows in anyone’s hands, but my neuroses are a different story.) I went here for full leg waxes twice because I needed one before the following day, in both cases, and I was in the neighborhood. FYI, the waxing room is cramped. I don’t remember the names of either of the women who waxed me. The first one was a lot sweeter than the second, though the second was also nice — it’s like comparing candy to fruit — but the waxes were rushed, a little spotty, and were very painful. The kind of pain where I’m only adding to it by digging one hand’s nails into the other to focus on that instead. Disclaimer: I am a wimp. But I’d waited too long between each of the last two waxes, so I forgave the slight spottiness because of the extra time needed. It wasn’t until I started watching the regrowth of the second that I was actually disappointed. The first wax, in that regard, was a lot more effective. Go here if you have to, but I’m sure there are better options elsewhere. Five blocks down Broadway is Queens Beauty Parlor, and I’ve heard good things( ).

I had my eyebrows done and got a facial. The girl who took care of me was inexperienced. The threading was painful and she didnt even ask me which shape i wanted and of course she got it wrong. She gave me the worst facial ever(which was done in the same room where they do the threading with all the other customers, where the passers by can see you through the window!): she wasn’t gentle at all and used too much strength when using the various scrubs. Extraction was even worst(Lucky me she only did it on a few spots). My friend only came for a facial but they kept asking her if the wanted to get her eyebrows or mustache done(seriously?!). I hated the whole experience and don’t recommend it at all. Stay away from this place!

I don’t know why I’ve gone back a few times. I think it’s because of their location and late hours. There was a new person there(in the last chair) at the beginning of the year who was very good. Her technique was really painless, it was great. I haven’t seen her since then. The three ladies that have been there the longest are way too talkative and don’t pay attention to what they’re doing. I get the impression that they are talking about you as they’re threading. They try and push for you to get your eyebrows done, when you’re there for other parts of your face. Many times their thread keeps breaking in mid-thread. I think it’s because they’re inexperienced or they aren’t paying attention and are too aggressive.

During my recent visit to the Jim Henson exhibit at the Museum of Moving Image, I had the following conversation with Bert from Sesame Street: Me: Hi Bert. Bert: Hi Lara. Me: I see that you still have a uni-brow going on. Bert: I know. This is how my creator Jim Henson wanted me to be. Me: But Bert, you are in Astoria! There is a plethora of eyebrow threading salons, all in the pursuit of improving the original. :) Threading Way is indeed among the many threading salons that dot the Astoria map. And judging from the traffic of clients walking in and out, it is one of the busiest salons presumably because it is conveniently located along Steinway in Astoria. I have tried a number of threading salons where most of them either remove too much from my eyebrow or subject me to the cruel and inhuman punishment of eyebrow torture so I was a bit skeptical that I’d walk out a happy client. Then again, I have always believe in the possibility of good surprises and at $ 5 for eyebrow threading I was indeed satisfied with the efficient, light and gentle approach to my eyebrows. They also offer other services like waxing and facial but I doubt if Bert of Sesame Street will avail of any of these services considering that I still have to persuade him to subject his uni-brow to eyebrow threading.
