Unfortunately its closed now and an overpriced coffee shop/café took its place. Fewer cheaper options for food in this neighborhood now.

The reason we go to national chains(is Popeye’s national? I haven’t done my research) is because we know what to expect. We’re guaranteed that whatever I ordered my first time in Nowheresville, Tiny Unimportant State, will be duplicated within a reasonable, unnoticeable margin in San Francisco, DC, NYC. So, I expect uniformity. That’s not too much to ask. Same recipe, same method of cooking, same oils, same packaging, same napkins. I assumed same temperature would be factored into this, but this Popeye’s either has no problem routinely serving up barely lukewarm Cajun fries, or Popeye’s corporate thought this is where they would stand out from the crowd. «Everyone else is always serving piping hot French fries, why shouldn’t we deviate from the norm and make a name for ourselves?» I’m giving them the second star for ridding themselves of a large ketchup dispenser. Janny C., whose intense craving for the fries inspired our trip, was disappointed that we had to grab packets, but as a rule dispensers are kind of yucky. Plus, they can be a literal breeding grounds for flies… and I for one can do without maggot germs.

My review for a fast food restaurant usually is for service, because mostly the food should be similar this being a franchise. The chicken is good, I love Popeyes chicken. The problem is that the service is so slow. There is usually one person woking behind the cash register, and another person cooking the chicken. I have seen another big person just walking around doing nothing. He may be the owner or the manager but does nothing even if there is a long line. Just walks back and forth. Besides the slow service, the place is rather dimly lit, and one of the ceiling fan seems a bit loose and I am afraid it might fall. Besides that this place is good to satisfy your evening chicken cravings. Parking may be hard to find. I would recommend this place if you don’t mind slow service and creepy lighting.

Popeye’s is tasty, crispy, savory fast food at its best, with juicy chicken and southern spice. They’re my favorite fried chicken brand and coming here is a bit of a treat because I don’t let myself eat fast food more than 5 times a year. The dark meat spicy fried chicken is so tasty and I adore their buttery biscuits. This location is a bit emptier than others I’ve been too. Its narrow in layout, so initially can feel a little creepy if there aren’t any people seated. That said, the service and food are on par with every other Popeye’s and the tables are clean. Nothing more needs to be said.
