Removing a star because my girlfriend and I used to get good sandwiches here all the time but a couple of months ago the sandwiches got progressively sloppier and not as tasty. I got a steak & cheese, that was almost impossible to eat because the steak was so chewy. We got paninis that weren’t hot. The shop is still my go-to and the bagel sandwiches/coffee are still top notch but we don’t get lunch here anymore. Real disappointing.

I have always loved going to othello’s for a sandwich and it never disappointed. However, it seems like recently quality has gone down a price up. Sandwiches are not as full as before and craftsmanship is questionable. It appears the owner are cutting costs at the expense of their clients and goods.

Great selection very clean and organized BUT the coffee is so watered down I can barely taste a thing. Stuck inside with two babies and desperately needed a boost, ordered a bunch of stuff just for the purpose of coffee and I’m pretty bummed out. Second time this happened, I thought it was a bad batch last time. I love this place but unfortunately will need to find another local place that can deliver because of the coffee. Some people are just cheap.

Their service is the worst. And when I comes to their prices it high comparing to the other convenient deli grocery stores next to them. I really don’t recommend it and left you had no choice.

This is a well stocked deli with a large menu and consistently delicious food. Their sandwiches are perfection and I eat them for dinner at least twice a week. My absolute favorite is the Bad Boy, with the Chicken Cordon Bleu coming in as a close second. If I’m starving, I can eat an entire hero solo; the nice thing is, if I’m only moderately hungry, it’s large enough to split with another person. They have a decent variety of snacks(chips, candy, ice cream, frozen pizza, etc.), soups, basic cleaning supplies, as well as a small selection of fresh produce and vegetable platters/veggie dips. You can definitely go there to grab a few last minute items if you’re having a small gathering or if you just need snacks for your evening in. Their beer selection is pretty impressive; overall, Othello’s just has a better supply of everything than you’d expect from a local deli. The workers are extremely friendly and always have a smile on their face, which is always nice. Othello’s is by far the best neighborhood deli.

I’ve been living down the block from Othello’s for over 3 years. This is my go-to place for deli meats, six packs, breakfast sandwiches and the occasional last-minute pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Prices are relatively expensive, but you are paying for the convenience(Deli meats actually cheaper than Key Food though!). Never used my credit card there, they charge extra, but that is an option. Jose was the best, but he’s gone now. Can get pretty crowded in the mornings and sometimes it’s a bit tricky to figure out who is waiting for a sandwich vs waiting in line to pay. Owner seems to enjoy parking his car(white Mercedes; license plate«Juice Dr») in the middle of the crosswalk most weekday mornings — would be nice if he stopped doing that.

Othello’s is pretty solid. Offers a lot of different options for food along with some extras that other corner stores don’t typically have. Examples, Fresh vegs /fruits, deli rolls, large selections of drinks, etc. Cold cut sandwiches are on point — can’t really go wrong with any the options. Boars head is used and the cold cuts move fast resulting in a very fresh and high quality sandwich. Their hot lunch sandwiches are suspect to me. Tried a few different chicken cutlet sandwiches the result was basically the same — half way in, I trashed it. Just seems like the cutlets were old or frozen or both. As other mentioned before, its not open 24 hours but its pretty close. Late night ordering(11pm+) can be interesting. Most of the time they are out of the basics after a certain time so you maybe surprised when you get home and find something complete different in the order. Breakfast is breakfast. I find the b-fast sandwiches to be middle of the road. I have friends that demand that their breakfast sandwiches are in their top 3 ever.

I’ve lived down the block from this deli for almost 7 years and it’s been nothing but great to me. Open early and generally late enough that it doesn’t bother me terribly that it’s not 24 hours. The guys behind the counter are friendly and helpful, even when it’s super busy(as it often is), and at this point, I get greeted by Sammy and Jose working the register in the morning and evenings. The food, especially the sandwiches, are always fresh and really high quality, and BIG. They have a ton of sandwiches on their big screen menus(I keep trying to work my way through them all, but I keep getting stuck on the Al Pacino, which is chicken cutlet, roasted red peppers, and fresh mozz on a roll or hero with oil and red wine vinegar — so good, though I take it with honey mustard instead of oil and vinegar), but they have lots of salads, too; tuna, pasta, chicken, buffalo chicken, seafood, etc. More than that, it’s a great spot to run in when you run out of some of the staples and don’t have time for a more full shopping trip — toilet paper, a piece of fruit, box of pasta, mustard/mayo/ketchup, soap, drain unclogger stuff, and on and on.

My husband and I ordered from Othello a few times a week. Love their iced coffee, breakfast sandwiches and hot food. Othello is aways open and even has a grocery aisle which is great as I tend to forget to buy ingredients at the supermarket. I can usually go to Othello’s and pick it up! Great service either at the Deli or Delivery.

For some reason, Othello’s Deli is mentioned twice. I did a review for it’s previous location. Now it is about a half block away. Different location, same great food & service. I am more than happy to give them a second glowing review. I walk by Othello’s on the way home from work. Sometimes, if I have worked late or don’t want to cook anything for dinner, I’ll stop by. The hot meals are usually very good. They change from day to day, but if you are there when they have their pot roast or brisket, I highly recommend it. Where they really excel is with their sandwiches. The sandwiches on their menu are great. My personal favorites are the Empire State, the Bronx Bomber, and the Derek Jeter. They also make a very good sandwich which is like a Reuben, but with bacon. I forget the name(the Hollywood?). Of course, they will make any sandwich you ask. They have a great selection of cold cuts & cheeses, as well as any side salad you may want(potato, macaroni, coleslaw, etc.) They also make a very decent Philly cheesesteak. The service is always good and friendly, even when the place is crowded and busy. The deli is also a very decent grocery. The prices will be higher than in a supermarket, but not outrageously so. They also have a great selection of beers. For a small place, it’s pretty well stocked. Unless the hours have changed recently, I don’t believe they are opened 24 hours. However, they do come pretty close(maybe 22 hours?). I’ve stopped by at midnight, and I’ve noticed people stopping by for coffee and breakfast in the wee hours of the morning. They do take credit cards, but I believe that there is a $ 10 minimum.

So far I had eggs and bacon on a bagel and ham an cheese hero sandwich and I loved both. They deliver and every time it has been fast and easy. The food is super fresh as the place is the busiest place in Astoria. I’ve gotta try other things.

This place has not moved, it’s in the same location, There really shouldn’t be two listings. Anyway here is the review that still is there on the other one with pic. The first thing you notice when you get a hero here is… this size. This has to be one of the biggest sandwiches I have seen, I could only eat half. The bread I’m guessing is a semolina cause it has a yellowish color and I don’t think it’s egg. I got the God Father I think, Salami, Pepperoni and Sopressata, pretty much an Italian. This was very good to say the least and it’s really the only thing you should eat for the day.

I love this place. I have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so. They make amazing sandwiches, probably the best mozzarella sandwich I have ever had. They make it EXACTLY the way I ask, and I am a picky eater :). The place is usually very busy, looks like the flow of customers and the string of orders never stops. Yet, people working there are always friendly, always have a smile for you, and make you feel like you are important, even when you are just one among several waiting for their food. And the wait is not long. The guys behind the counter really know efficiency! Othello’s is also very clean. They have a couple of tables by the window, and every once in a while I enjoy having my coffee there, as the vibe in this place is really friendly and pleasant. Keep up the good work guys!

Great selection of sandwiches. They use New York celebrity names for sandwiches, and despite the controversy they have stuck with A-Rod. The rice balls are delicious. Weekend mornings get a little hectic, but service is always great.

The deli itself is a no frills deli. There are a few seats inside as well as outside. This place looks exactly like a deli would look like, but the sandwiches were pretty solid. There are a shit ton of different sandwiches, so take your time looking at the menu. The guys running the counter run it like a well oiled machine, they are quick and efficient. The food: Derek Jeter– chicken cutlet, deluxe ham, bacon, melted Swiss & Russian dressing. This was a solid sandwich, but it could be tweaked. In terms of the good, the chicken cutlet itself and the Swiss cheese were excellent, the Russian dressing was nice. The bread I wasn’t too crazy about, it was on the hard/dry side. My friend got his sandwich on Italian bread with sesame seeds on his which was the much better option. Will definitely come back. Frank Sinatra– Prosciutto, Provolone, fried eggplant, roasted peppers & balsamic vinaigrette. I was thinking this sandwich would be dynamite, but I thought the sandwich was too salty and there really wasn’t the balsamic vinaigrette present. The sandwich just seemed dry and salty. And the eggplant was chewy.
