I just ordered from here for the first time. On seamless they are just known as, «Opa Greek Restuarant» I got a simple chicken kebab platter. It was awesome!!! Delivery is fast, huge portions, yummy rice, yummy tzatziki, yummy pita, juicy chicken kebab, and a great price! Only issue was the Greek salad. It wasn’t separate from the hot food so it got hot and who wants hot salad? Also, the lettuce is shredded and just weird consistency for a Greek salad. Def my go to while Zorba’s is getting renovated.

Terrible! First, the delivery took an hour and when the food arrived, the hot food was cold and the cold food was warm. The fries were like mashed potatoes(soggy)! The lamb gyro had many hard pieces in it and I picked only eat a few bites, yuck!

the souvlaki was bland, fatty, and undercooked; the gyro is comparable to cardboard in many ways; the pita slices were soggy since they were mixed with the rice; the bifteki was not cooked through; the salad is shredded lettuce put with the hot food – not a good idea. the only thing edible was the free chicken soup that came with the delivery. i don’t know how this place exists. I write this as the food still sits on my table and it will soon be sitting in the trash. I feel awful having to write a scathing review but this place has the potential to do so much better. Don’t serve dried out gyro. Season your food! A little salt goes a long way. Grill the souvlaki at higher heat so that there’s some char. I don’t want to eat food that seems like it was cooked in a microwave. Put the salad and the pita in separate containers. C’mon guys… you can do better than this. and by the way… the frozen veggies in the rice. Why? Just don’t even do that.

We used to love this place — came in often from Staten Island. The last time we were here is just that, exactly, the LAST time! My husband ordered the gyro platter — the meat was cold and greasy! The lemon potatoes tasted old and stale as did my fries. The pita was also cold. I ordered the chicken gyro platter and it was tasteless! What happened? New cook?

Food is nice, environment is nice. Only thing was that we waited for a while, even though there were not many in the restaurant.

$ 10 for a huge vegetarian platter consisting of a Greek salad(I always replace it for a Horitaki salad), a spinach pie, and lemon potatoes. LITERALLYTHEBESTTHINGEVER. I love this place.

Ordered 2 Mousaka platters last night. 1) Mousakas were cold. 2) I got ONE free small cup of soup for TWO platters. «You get one for free per order no matter how many platters you ordered». In other words, I can get two for free if I placed two separate orders. Oh well… 3) «Greek salad» = Shredded lettuce, one piece of cucumber, one piece of tomato, and a few pieces of onions? Opa was much better year ago…

The delivery was fast. I got the spinach pie, it was ok. The Greek salad was just ok, had tiny shavings of feta instead of large chunks. The lemon potatoes were good! The skordalia had the flavor and consistency of cold mashed potatoes… I couldn’t dip pita into it like a «dip», but they didn’t give me pita bread with it anyways… they gave sliced Italian bread… Weird.

I went to Greece for vacation in May. I miss Greece food a lot when I come back, especially a simple dish like gyro souvlaki. We passed by Opa and thought of checking out the restaurant. it was dim light and I do not have a good feeling. we ordered 2 gyro souvlaki, cost $ 5USD each. I cannot finished half of mine. The meat is hard, pita is cold and there are lots of vege, less meat. I know I should not compare NYC food to authentic Greece cuisine, but I am very disappointed with Opa, because the food is not even close.

I leave the airport, I tell the cab to come here. I don’t even bother seeing my brother first, this is always my first stop when I’m back in New York. You can’t understand your server because it’s that authentic. Just point to the what you want on the menu and they’ll take care of you.

Only one word can describe my dining experience at Opa Opa; horrendous. I ordered the gyro platter with rice(instead of fries), the spinach pie, and grilled octopus. My gyro platter came with fries, and not the rice. I wanted the rice, so I ordered a side of rice, which I was willing to pay extra for. The rice finally arrived as I was biting into the last bite of my gyro platter. Not to mention, at this point in time, my spinach pie nor grilled octopus still hadn’t arrived. I told the waiter to nix the spinach pie, but if the octopus was about ready, to bring it out. The octopus arrived a few minutes later and looked, smelled, and tasted very undone — almost rotten. At this point I needed to leave… I asked for the check, but before doing so, asked the waiter to pack up the side of rice(that came at the end of my meal), my brother’s leftover gyro platter that he couldn’t finish, as well as the semi-raw octopus(I figured I’d take that home and throw it on the grill to cook all the way through). Here is the best part… I get home and open my doggy bag only to find that all that was packed was the leftover gyro platter. Talk about insult to injury… I will NEVER be returning.

Horrible experience. The«Greek fries» were cold and soggy, tasted stale. Sandwich was falling apart in the foil and cold. Disgusting, too late to return it. Restaurant staff on the phone were rude and dismissive. What a waste of money.

This place is awesome! Excellent Greek food. The calamari is top notch. Large cut pieces, Juicy, moist, fresh and perfectly lightly fried. Love it. Mama and baba really enjoyed their gyro… mama’s crispy pita request came out perfect. My sister’s charcoal grilled Htapodi(octopus) was pure heaven and great satisfaction. My lamb entrée was a huge portion with potatoes, salad, pita bread, tzadziki, and 2 lamb souvlakia. The dish was extremely tasty and lamb cooked medium… soft, moist, and juicy. Their house wine is light and tasty, and served in an old school copper carafe… so cool. Great value of fresh food for the money. Relatively cheap considering NYC. The place was very busy for Sunday evening and apparently they’re always busy. No surprise there! The service is great too. All the ladies are very friendly and fast. Even the owner who is the chef/host/waiter came out to serve us our plates and check on us! He specifically addressed mama, the eldest lady at the table. That’s class, love of hospitality, and a true gentleman!!! Bravo sou kyrie!!! !

This review is for delivery only. Unfortunately I am only just getting around to reviewing this place(have ordered from here 10 times already) but Opa is the place you want to go if you like Greek style french fries and Chicken Gyros. Gyro is traditionally made with either beef or lamb so the Chicken version usually doesn’t taste as good at most Greek places. However, this place makes the chicken version just as well as the traditional Beef/Lamb. It’s rather regretful that I see poor reviews for the Beef/Lamb which should be a staple of any Greek place. However, in my experience the Chicken has always been excellent. Shouldn’t it be vice versa?

I have to pay attention to my own reviews, at least for a few seconds. The donner combo provided a massive amount of pork, and once again I was impressed by the tzatziki sauce. But the lemon potatoes aren’t the best in the neighborhood, and the skordalia had a high potato ratio seemingly intended to appease the garlic-phobic. I like the friendly vibe, low prices and late hours, so I’ll be back.

I really can’t say anything that I have not said before, they gave me old meat again for the third and final time. I actually had to go home and re heat it. If I could give a zero I would. If you can’t figure out how much meat you should shave off after the first 30 times you should just quit.

Love this place the good is authentic Greek the portions are large in size. The staff is friendly. The souvlaki and gyros are amazing, the tzatziki isn’t mayo it’s the real deal. Swing by this place and grab a gyro to go late night and eat it in front of the place while you watch little Greece. The back room looks like a scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding with the blue and white theme but it’s cute. The plastic grape leaves are a nice touch too.
