Pretty solid meatball joint here. Enjoyed my food very VERY much. Pros: excellent portion sizes, creative choices, super tasty food. Had the Giving Thanks — turkey meatballs, cranberry horseradish sauce and goat cheese — sweet and savory. Yum! Just the right size, anymore and I would’ve been grumbling. Mind you, I am a 5’4″ female. Husband also very much enjoyed Spicy Italian — beef meatballs with tomato sauce and mozzarella — not too spicy, just a kick. Really great friendly service. Cons: I’m sure it’s priced accordingly, but $ 9+ for a less-than-6″-hero in this neighborhood is kinda expensive. Two heroes plus two regular Poland springs ran us $ 26 not counting tip jar tip. Notes: the place is small, counter service, made fresh to order. Food can take awhile — don’t mistaken this for fast food in all sense of the term. Economically speaking I don’t see me eating here on a regular basis but a great place to bring a friend or splurge on a craving. And let’s face it. I shouldn’t be eating meatballs weekly anyway!(Maybe monthly).

*Really trying not to make a bunch of cheap jokes, just can’t be helped.* I’ve seen plenty of ball stands at the LIC Food and Flea, Smorgasburg Madison Square eats, basically any place that you can set up an outdoor booth you’re going to find one that sells balls. I usually just pass by them because aside from the cheap double entendres that you’re going to find with any of these places I figure they’re going to be lackluster no matter how novel or different they make it seem, it’s still just a meatball and kind of overpriced at that. I was walking by one night though and seeing it actually open after seeing a coming soon sign for months, thought I would try it out. I got the Spicy Italian in hero form and I got to customize it a little by swapping out a beef for a pork and got a little jalapeño jelly sauce to the marinara. They were closing up soon so I just got it to-go and even after it had cooled down a little it was still really good and for under 10 bucks it really wasn’t that bad.

This is our favorite restaurant in the area. The food is super good and the waiters are all very helpful.

I’ve been to their Madison Square Eats stand years back and wasn’t impressed, so I opted instead for the solid grits side for $ 4, which took quite some time to prepare for takeout given the lack of customers, but it didn’t seem due to the 2 staffers both charmingly rapping to Talib Kweli. been to m sq eats one Transaction Amount $ 4.00 Total Rewards — $ 2.00 $ 2 First Visit Reward — $ 2.00 Total Balance $ 2.00

This place is awesome. The space is very cool and inviting and the food is amazing. I really appreciate the veggie options here. The service is excellent. The«sexy African»(veggie balls with a spicy sauce and parmesan cheese) is amazing. So fresh and full of flavor. The Mac n cheese is also really tasty, give it a try. This is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood.

Mighty Balls has a nice selection of meatballs(beef, pork, turkey), and different sauce and cheese options to choose from if you want to build your own hero or plate. As it was my first time there, I decided to choose one of the menu staples rather than making up my own. My belly buster of choice was a hero with turkey meatballs, cranberry sauce, goat cheese and horseradish. It was a well balanced Thanksgiving dinner stuffed into a hero roll. If you’re not really into the idea of savory and sweet mixed together, the spicy Italian is a great alternative. The pimento mac n cheese was good, and didn’t lack for copious amounts of stretchy cheese, but might have been even better if it was creamier. Mighty Balls is a small little place, but I think it fills a big lack of meatball-centered restaurants in Queens.

I pass them every day coming home from work. Tonight, my fiancée wanted to grab an evening snack on our way home because we had a small early dinner. I wasn’t really expecting much as they didn’t draw too big of a crowed when they first opened. Upon inspecting the menus realized the meatballs were organic(which is also reflected in the price). Ordered just the balls(pork, beef, and bean). Got the brown sauce and cranberry horseradish — no cheese. Came to 8 dollars even. The balls were made and seasoned well– well enough for me to eat without the sauces. I preferred the pork and bean — fiancé preferred the beef. Now the sauce I was really impressed with the cranberry horseradish. I felt they complimented the meatballs incredibly. I wasn’t so impressed with the brown sauce but the fiancée liked both sauces. Would eat again especially to try the turkey and veggie.

This place was delicious. I liked that thy emphasize organic, vegan and healthy meats options. My husband and I got 2 sliders each and macaroni and cheese and that was more than enough food! I thought the Mac and cheese was a little bland, but the balls were tasty! I got the spicy Italian and the turkey cranberry, my husband got the sexy African bean and the veggie ball. This place has some seating, but not a lot. If you come at a peak time, it’s best to be alone or with one other. If you have a bigger party, you’ll probably have to wait to sit together. It’s a good place for families with kids, if your kids are well behaved. Because this place is quite cramped. It’s clean and the service is friendly! It’s right near the movie theater and Kaufman Astoria studios, which is nice bc there’s not many lower cost, high value places to eat in this part of the neighborhood. We will definitely go back here!

This place is a better version of the meatball shop. I think what I appreciate most is their spice talent — close second is ingredient quality. $ 7 for just the balls. I had the beef balls with tomato sauce the first few times. I tried parm, mozz, and goat cheese. It sounds weird but goat cheese really works. Today I branched out to pork balls with african onion sauce. They tell me this is the most spicy sauce. It’s a mustard spice. I liked the flavor. I’m going to keep trying things because I come here multiple times per week. BYOB(!) Good music curation as good as it gets

I can’t claim I’m a meatball expert but I think this place tastes pretty good. I’m also on a no carb diet so I feel like I can eat this guilt free. Ordered Turkey meatball w tempting tomato sauce(yum). Cheese toppings: mozzarella(was served cold but I told them I think it should be melted and they were pretty receptive to my suggestion). spicy feta(’twas my fave). Gorgonzola so fresh so good. The damage $ 9. I think that’s fine because I felt full after and the balls are pretty decent sized. Last suggestion would be to ask customers if they’d like a slice of Italian bread… not for me of course(no carb diet for today only), but it’s nice for those customers who want to soak up the rest of the sauce.

This place is about a 3.5. A friend told me about this place opening up. I was under the impression that they had vegetarian(but not vegan) meatballs, so I didn’t bother coming but then I walked by and saw on the window that they do indeed have vegan meatballs! The man asked if it was my first time there, and went to explain their small menu and how you can customize it, get one ball, two balls, or a hero. I got the spicy African sauce(their spiciest one) with the vegan(bean) meatballs on a hero. I was surprised how much I had to pay for what looked like a small portion, but it was very filling and satiating. The heat was fiery, and that was awesome. The sauce had onions in it, which added to the flavor, but I don’t think someone who didn’t like onions would like the sauce. The bread was toasted, which added a chewy/crunchy texture. There isn’t a whole lot of seating. There are a few tables against the wall, as well as stools looking out the window. If you sit near the door, be prepared to hear people laughing at the name«Mighty Balls» as they walk by.

Beautifully decorated. We noticed as we walked out of the night market and although we just ate, the smell was amazing and we decided to step in to check it out. Gentleman at the counter was extremely nice and walked us through the menu. We decided to take balls to go and brought home three types; the pork with jalapeño jelly, the spicy Italian, and the veggie with African onions. It took about 10 – 15 minutes from when we ordered to receive our food but we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. I did not mind the short wait because there is a large window to people watch. We ended up waiting two hours before eating the balls since we were still full from dinner. I reheated the balls in the microwave slightly and they were still moist and flavorful. My favorite was the pork with jalapeño jelly and the veggie with African onion. They are amazing and I know they would be even better if I had them fresh. The spicy Italian was good but I probably would not have again due how amazing the other two types of balls were.

Walk into the nice small setting and it’s warm and smells delicious. The flavor is in the air. There’s outside benches to relax on. Mighty Balls makes some tasty balls. You can get meat(Beef, Pork, Turkey) or veggie/bean balls. Had a couple sliders and they were good but not great. Definitely not your average meatballs. Each Mighty Ball is a little larger than a golf ball. It’s a bit flaky or crumb-like consistency, not dense. Each Mighty Ball has one unique or made up of different flavors to form one taste, a moderately tasty one. I’m detecting some kind of herb in the mix. The Jalapeño Jelly is a tad sweet and spicy with loads of vinegar to back it up. Not a fan of the cheese but the bun was good also-toasted, fresh and seems like baked by Mighty Balls(not sure — my interpretation). A friend ordered the Sexy African and said that was pretty good. It’s like three dollars and change for a slider and $ 7-$ 9 for Balls/Hero The staff are chill and seem cool. Worth a couple revisits to kickback and munch on some Mighty Balls.

Perhaps the Wall Street Journal got it wrong when it heralded Mighty Balls(MB) or that I visited at the wrong time(shortly prior to closing)? The food was lackluster, tasted decent and the service was great. A wide variety of Interesting sauces – such as African onion – from which to choose accompanied a wide variety of meatballs from which to choose. I dislike buffets because of my maniacal OCD to try a little bit of everything so I mixed and matched the meatballs with the sauces. In short I’ll give MB another try and I will report back.

Bro, here is a cool story. I stumbled upon Mighty Balls(*chuckles*) the first evening I moved to my home and I ate dinner here. The menu is highly customizable. You choose quantity: 1, 2, or 3 meatballs. Which kind of meat do you want(beef, pork, and veggie)? Which kind of cheese? Which kind of sauce? Meatballs are most commonly made of beef so I ordered a beef slider(3 meatballs in a hot dog bun), mozzarella, and tomato sauce(mildly spicy). The beef melts in your mouth! It was delicious. The slider can definitely use more cheese, but that might be personal preference! The tomato sauce has a kick but not full on spicy. If you want a no-spicy sauce, then go for the brown sauce. I took a bite from my friend’s pork meatballs — they were more chewy, definitely different texture from beef but also very delicious. Relevant for summer months — there is no air conditioning in the shop, just a fan. It has 3 tables and a bar along the window with stools, where you can sit and eat while people walking by watch you eat tasty meatball sliders enviously through the window. Canvas and retro light bulbs hanging on the wall and ceiling, respectively. I dig the vibe here. Will be back for more!

I noticed this store long before they actually opened as I live in the neighborhood. I was not sure if it was actually a store that had since closed down. Needless to say, I was surprised to see them actually turn on their lights one day. So my friend and I originally wanted to go for happy hour oysters at Mar’s, but did not have time because we were heading to a wedding in the city. The store itself was very hot due to the lack of A/C as a previous reviewer mentioned. We both ended up ordering the Giving Thanks slider for takeout. Service was quick and friendly, but I had to go outside to wait for the food to be prepped. It was cooler outside than inside. We basically scarfed down the slider in 2 minutes. It was small and cost almost 5 bucks!!! I have to say that it was fresh and the cranberry horseradish and goat cheese combo was quite good. In my opinion, it was not worth the price. The hero seems like a better deal. I may give the hero a shot if I crave balls one of these days…

The Number 1 complaint on Unilocal is that Mighty Balls has no A/C. I popped in the other day for lunch(I had previously picked up some meatballs on opening day), and they had brought in a large portable A/C, so don’t be afraid to go because of that. We each ordered the trio of meatballs. Mighty Balls creates a different sauce for each kind of meatball and tops it with a different cheese, and the flavor combinations are all interesting(we had beef, veg, and pork). The meatballs aren’t huge, but with the sauce and the cheese, three meatballs is pretty filling. The guy at the counter was helpful and friendly. Go.

I was hoping for better, but this place is decent for a quick bite to eat. I had their beef meatball with the tomatoe sauce as a slider, and their grits. The slider was delicious, but the grits were SUPER garlicy. This is coming from a woman that likes to eat pickled garlic, but the taste of the creamy grits were so smothered by the strong garlic taste. I also tried a bit of the mac and chese and it tasted great. Overall, it’s a decent place to eat if you’re very hungy.

New place in Astoria? Of course I had to stop in. Currently, this place is definitely lacking on AC making it a rather uncomfortable place to walk into. However, they’ve planted fans and have a meager portable air condition running in order to make it all bearable. The staff was pleasant enough. The cashier was happy and helpful, and the lady cooking wasn’t rude or anything. The food came out quick enough(maybe 10 minutes), and looked presentable. The cranberry horseradish sauce was good. Probably my favorite sauce here. It was a good balance between spicy and sweet. Combined with a classic beef meatball I was a happy camper. The brown sauce doesn’t taste like gravy, and every other sauce I tried did taste very sweet. I genuinely didn’t care for the jalepeño jelly– it just tastes peculiar. A friend had a hero and before he could even pick it up, it fell apart. This place has a lot of potential, it could be an amazing addition to the Astoria line once they work out a few kinks. Here’s hoping for the best!
