Just an update, it’s now the Hong Kong & Amei House. Not sure why they changed the name but you can’t find them under just Hong Kong house on Grubhub. The app also says the don’t deliver to my area but if I call and order I don’t have a problem.

I’ve been ordering here for the past 5 years and it’s always been pretty good. this time I ordered dim sum and a few other things. It was rank with cigarette smell. I’m really bummed because I really liked this place. I’m not ordering here again.

Ordered from here for the first time last night! Saw they had an «A» rating when I walked by, so I was down to try. I ordered the mixed vegetables combination plate with pork fried rice, a spring roll, and the boneless spareribs appetizer. Spring roll was DELICIOUS, my only complaint was that there wasn’t 2 in the bag(I thought that was standard serving size). Mixed vegetables were nice — I tend to prefer darker brown sauces with my veggies but it had more of a lighter brown sweet sauce. Still, no complaints it was delicious. The only thing I wouldn’t do again was the spareribs. I tend to prefer spareribs that have more sauce and sweetness to them but these were really meaty. I ended up giving them to my roommate who loved them. To each his own I guess! Definitely my new go-to Chinese place.

Tried 2 of their lunch specials: 1. chicken with mixed vegetables w/brown rice w/lite cooking sauce(upon my request) — good quality, fresh w/lunch size portion(much smaller than average dinner portion) 2. beef with onions w/brown rice — it was just okay; beef was drowning in the watery cooking sauce. Guess I have to let them know every time I order to go easy on the sauce they cook the food in. Most likely will try them again B.B.

Best Chinese take-out I’ve had– really good quality ingredients and very fast delivery. We had the beef with broccoli combo and the general tso chicken combo. Being Chinese myself, I normally wouldn’t call take-out«delicious,» but in this case I really think these guys do it right. I only regret not tipping the delivery man more for coming out on such a cold night(sorry dude, we’ll make it up to you next time!).

I love this place, best dumpling place this side of Astoria. Food is not over greasy(except maybe the pancakes, but they are fried anyway). Fairy quick with delivery and food comes hot. However I HATE their idiot, evidently illiterate, delivery guys. We have small children and with an over excited barking dog every time the bell rings, it makes for a chaotic moment. So when we seamless, it is listed under our address AND special instructions not to ring the bell AND a written note is stuck OVER the bell. This moron lifts the sign to ring the bell anyway. Have to remember to stop pre-tipping. For the F-bomb stupid delivery guys they hire, I’m deducting a star. It happens every time but the food is too good, I can’t stop ordering from them!

Finally tried this place which is across the street from me, and I was not disappointed. I ordered a fairly simple meal: bean curd(tofu) & mixed veggies in garlic sauce. The veggies were fresh and crunchy and the bean curd was perfectly cooked(not fried). Simple, tasty, not greasy. For a $ 5 meal($ 5!!!) what more could you really ask for? Note: This place is take-out/delivery only. No tables.

A decent place for Chinese food. I had the Szechuan chicken which was good.

I mean, I guess it is what it is, but I recently picked up some food there — some simple veg dishes, which I felt would be the safest bet. They were swimming in gross, orange, glutenous oil, rendering them completely inedible. No, no, no.

Worst general tso’s chicken I’ve ever had… EVER! The lowest of the low quality. It was terrible and I’ll never be ordering from them again. Dragon and Phoenix and Sampan are the best in Astoria, JJ garden in Elmhurst/Jackson Heights(near Dante) is the best in Queens! On a lighter note, my fiancé got shrimp with lobster sauce and that was«okay»(tolerable) according to him.

This take-out place is great because it is just one block parallel from where I live, but it is also very good not only for take-out, but chinese food in general. Yes I know I just wrote a long run on sentence, so sue me :-) I highly recommend their Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Sesame Chicken, Roast Pork Lo Mein and their Hot and Sour Soup is good too. Their lunch special includes pork friend rice and the choice of soup, soda or egg roll. They give you such a huge portion that you should always choose a diet soda. No need for the calories a soup or egg roll contain

Ordered the Sesame Chicken based on Alkisti M’s suggestion. The Sesame Chicken did not have much sauce. It was crispy and less gummy. The accompanying broccoli was crispy. We also ordered Bean Curd House Style. The person on the phone could not provide a helpful description and said it was Fried Bean Cured and Mixed Vegetables. The only catch is, there’s another item on their menu called Bean Cured and Mixed Vegetables. The difference between the two may just be the sauce, as the person on the phone asked how spicy we would like the House Style. «Mild» I replied. Sadly, the House Style has no flavor and a hit of spice. There was amble sauce, but just no flavor. Quite disappointing. This is the first time I’ve ordered Chinese Takeout where it did not come with a cookie. Guess meals don’t come with a cookie at Hong Kong House. I would order the Sesame Chicken for pick up, again.

I ordered from this place a couple weeks ago when I was craving Chinese delivery and didn’t have any cash(thus used to order so I could use a credit card, and could only choose from 3 Chinese restaurants in the area). It was… alright. I would say it’s tied with Golden House for being the best I’ve found for Chinese in Astoria, but I’m definitely still looking for my favorite, go-to place. I ordered pork fried dumplings and sesame chicken. The dumplings were pretty good, but I’ve had better. And the chicken was a bit dry and didn’t have much in the way of sauce. However, the portions were large and the looks of the food didn’t totally gross me out(like I’ve been at a few places in Astoria). I may or may not order here again, that is if I can’t find a better place.

Of all the Chinese take out places in the Ditmars area, this is my favorite. The dumplings are great and I love their sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice tastes great as well. I always take my food to go. There is one table and about 2 chairs in the place. Not exactly a set up for a romantic evening. Still, good food, good price, good deal.

yum yum yum. I know i know i ve ate so much today and i m STILL talking about food. but this sesame chicken is really a hit! that chicken, that sauce, everything was so great. Its good for a take out and NOT to go there and eat cause the atmosphere is kinda crappy thats why i have toi give it 4 stars and not 5 :/

Another reliable ghetto Chinese take-out joint around my way. There used to be a guy who worked there named Jimmy that was cool with me and my roommate, Jason. Jimmy used to always hook me up with free Snapples but charge Jason for them(we never went at the same time), and we suspected he was trying to pit us against one another. But I didn’t care, because I was drinking the sweetest tea of all — free. Legend also tells of a family meal, where for like $ 7 you get an entrée with the usual fried starch option, an egg roll, a small soup, soda, and a chicken wing. But I choose life.
