I love the food, especially the lunch buffet, and am a frequent flyer. But, today will be my last trip to Himani. One rude hostess/waitress can really ruin a business! My friends and I bring our kids for lunch once a month. We usually sit in the back room, in the kids area, and have a great time. We make an effort to clean up after them, and although they sometimes stray, we keep them around that table and area. Today, our waitress was great, but the other woman, the hostess, was rude. My son was in his high chair the whole time, but when it was time to leave, I took him out and he was standing, waiting for me. He was blocking the entrance to the room, so she said«Move young man», and he looked up at her, but did not move fast enough(he’s 2 and can take a minute to process), so she pushed him out of the way, and he fell and hit his head on the shelf! Then, as we were walking out, she loudly asked«Did they pay?»!! I not only paid, I received a free buffet for my husband because I completed another frequent buyer card(buy 9, get the 10th free). Additionally, I wiped down my kid’s high chair, put away all the toys he or the other kids touched, and left a 25% tip on a buffet! I’m from back east, so I am used to abruptness, but her behavior was simply unacceptable. I work in real estate and used to rec this place to clients. Not anymore :(

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst searching for a vegan friendly establishment. Food was amazing only disappointment was the chapati. Ordered a delicious hyderabadi bagara baigan(eggplant stuffed with peanut, coconut and sesame seed paste) and spinach dal. Would love to go back again soon. Recommended.

The best Indian food I’ve ever had. We had the tandoori salmon and the lamb cilantro with garlic naan. Everything was amazing. We went on the advice of locals, and I’m so glad we did. My only annoyance was a screaming baby who was wondering the restaurant the entire time we were there. It almost ruined the experience for us. The baby belonged to one of the owners I believe, so there wasn’t much we could do about it.

Have not been impressed with Astoria lately, but this place was fantastic. I had the chicken saag and it was the right amount of spice and very flavorful. My husband had the chicken vindaloo which was absolutely delish. Don’t forget to order ther their garlic naan, it was crisy, chewy and perfect.

I do not know how, but somehow my review vanished, however even two years after I went to this restaurant I still remember it as being one of the best Indian meals I have ever had in the States. The food was simply amazing. Can not wait to go back this year.

Pretty well managed restaurant with a good menu. However certain delicacies were a little off.

This place is truly a gem. We had the cauliflower appetizer, it was amazing! Then a chicken and a fish dish, both were full of flavor and spice! Any bad review of this restaurant, I find astonishig. I will go back till I have tried everything on the menu!

My family and I love good Indian food. Himani Indian Cuisine fit the bill for us perfectly. We’ve dined there several times now, and have thoroughly enjoyed their dishes, You can select the spiciness level: mild, medium, or hot. The Chicken Makhani is a delicious, creamy curry. Their Mutter Paneer is spot on. Their Navaratan Biriyani is redolent with perfectly balanced spices and a lovely nuttiness. The lunchtime buffet, which offers a milder version of their food, is a great way to sample many of their offerings. We were very happy with every dish on the buffet cart. I highly recommend Himani Indian Cuisine!!!

Best Indian food we have had in a long time! The family is really nice and the food is fresh and excellent! We highly recommended the Gobi 65 vegetarian appetizer!

This was our first visit here and we were blown away! Even though they seemed unprepared for the wave of people who flooded in at their 5 o’clock opening, they kept things moving and the wait was more than acceptable. But the food… it was wonderful! I eat in a lot of Indian Restaurants when I’m travelling because of the veg/vegan options, so I’ve tasted the good, the bad and the ugly. These guys had a unique and delicious way with their spices that was not quite like anything else I have tasted, but my wife and I loved it. To find an eatery of this quality in a small town was a joy. I will definitely be coming back here the next time I come through Astoria.

LOVE Himani and have been frequenting them since they were selling delicious fare down at the Sunday Market. REALLY do miss the shrimp tikka masala though. Never a disappointment :)

I am super glad we ate here for dinner. However, when we first pulled up we were a little leery because their front windows were boarded up. Turns out they were remodeling. Then, we walked in(around 5:30pm) and we were the only customers! Not sure what was up with that, but by the time we left it was mostly full. After perusing the menu, we had some questions about what was gluten and dairy free. The waitress was KICKASS! She knew her ingredients, big time. Five stars for that! We ordered the appetizer platter and our allergy person could eat 3⁄5 of the appetizers. They were all fried, though. The three entrees we ordered all came quickly, were hot and delicious, and there was plenty of food for the take home baggie.

1 star for ambience 1 star for food 1 star for having so less veggie options Everything was cold here, bread, rice and all dishes; Definitely not a place to have Indian food; if this is your first time eating Indian food, I feel bad that you had it here; Indian food is far far more delicious than what you had here; I would like you give it another try; for others, if u are dying to eat Indian, then may be u can come here else go somewhere and eat good food

My favorite restaurant, hands down, in Astoria. Well if really prodded it’s a tie with another locale… I digress. It’s a family owned and operated restaurant. The service, very kind, polite, and caring — attentive needless to say. The main attraction is the food, of course. I’ve posted pictures of the glorious food we partook. My pictures can paint something worth a thousand words. They do not however have smell-o-vision, nor taste-o-vision. If available technologically, you would be here post haste. I highly recommend you experience Himani for yourself!

Sincerely the BEST Indian meal I have ever had. I went with my parents for the lunch buffet. I have now requested whenever I visit we have a meal here. Everything had its own individual flavour palette. The mango mouse was a delightful surprise. The naan was just perfect compliment to all choices. And for a buffet the choices were plentiful. The chicken dishes were moist. Each mouthful seemed to compliment the next. The service was gracious but not intrusive. Even the music added to a relaxed ambiance and a treasure in the heart of Astoria. Plan on a visit to this gem of India.

Great lunch buffet and excellent service. I was impressed by the number of dishes at the buffet, larger than most Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Each dish is nicely labeled, including indication of dairy products(if I remember correctly). I have no idea what the names of the dishes are, but I enjoyed several chicken dishes, the naan bread and two rices, fried veggies, spinach with cheese, and potatoes. I especially liked the veggie chow mein noodles and mango mousse, along with the numerous different sauces. There was also a kale salad and stew that I didn’t have room for. I would have preferred that the food be hotter temperature-wise, but everything was still warm enough(and that’s what you get with buffets, right?) This place is bigger than I expected and has lovely décor, along with soothing music. Great place to bring a group. The server was quick to fill my water and clear my plates, which I always appreciate. Adult lunch buffet price is $ 12, which is a bit more than I usually spend. Lower prices for kids and seniors.

This place is a little beauty in Astoria. It doesn’t matter what you order it will be fresh and authentic. This is a review for dinner not lunch buffet. We had the lamb saag and it is the best that we have had in the States. The Tandoori chicken is good but it is not baked in a tandoor oven and arrives on a sizzling plate, nevertheless it was very tasty. Just go and enjoy.

Finding a place to eat at 8 pm on Christmas Day can be a challenge in Astoria. Just as we were about to throw in the towel we noticed this place. Doesn’t look like much from the outside which makes it a pleasant surprise once you step in. We had a flat bread appetizer and two lamb/curry dishes. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. Portion size could be a little bigger but I did not leave hungry so apparently it was just right. Very pleasant surprise for the holiday.

Went here on a Saturday for dinner. We wanted to try their lunch buffet but looks like they are not open for lunch on Saturdays. We ordered the Bondas for appetizer which was ok. For Entrees we tried the Plain Dosa and Poori. Both were pretty good and tasted more south indian. In the end we had the Madras coffee and Mango kulfi. The Mango Kulfi tasted more like mango icecream and i didnt taste anything like Kulfi in it. Overall, the food was pretty decent and its hard to find an Indian restaurant anywhere nearby in Astoria, Seaside or Cannon beach.
