Such incredibly cool pieces of Astoria history here. The self-guided tour allows you to get right up to the boats, machinery, and tools used back in the day. Don’t forget to drop some dollars into the donation box.

We recently stumbled across this cute little museum when we took a wrong turn looking for the East Mooring Bay to go commune with the sea lions. I’m glad we did! Located on Pier 39, a converted cannery warf and former home of the Bumble Bee Tuna cannery, now the location of a mixed retail and professional venue, it’s a surprisingly nice place. It’s unstaffed and clearly doesn’t have much of a budget. Located in the old freezers of the cannery are an assortment of old photographs, tools, equipment, products and outfits. There are also some boats in a large area outside the freezers. You can spend just a few minutes, or up to an hour or so, but either way, it’s a pretty enjoyable experience. We were very pleased to have accidentally visited.

We totally stumbled upon this«museum» by accident after breakfast at Coffee Girl. It was totally unexpected but really cool. Come check it out if you have free time.

Interesting place. There’s no one there, so you just kind of wander off the pier, into a building and walk around. LOTS of pictures(getting a bit damaged by salt air), information, boats, etc.

Very cool place. I take visitors to this place it is so cool. Been there 2−3−4 times? Small but packed with history including peoples names on the walls who worked there. I know someone who said her mom worked there. There is also a restaurant right there(have not been there, can’t comment), and a cool coffee shop called«Coffee Girl» with nice people. You can even rent a room above the tuna factory which I still totally want to do. My husband went down the ladder that actually goes under the wharf and took photos of the pillars that hold the place up. Better he than I. The Bumble Been Cannery Museum is definitely one of our favorite places! But, then again… we love Astoria… so much so that we got married there last year at the courthouse.

The Museum is housed in the oldest cannery building still standing on the Columbia River on Pier 39. It houses all sorts of memorabilia, photos and it’s cold as hell in there. The Pier is a bit of multi-use modern office building with Coffee Girl Coffee House and a Rogue Ale House as well as the Cannery Museum. It’s pretty dark damp and cold in the museum parts but there is some fairly unique information and memorabilia on display there worthy of seeing. If Museum’s are your thing then you’ll want to stroll down to the Columbia River Maritime Museum after you visit here. Enjoy
