What do I like about this place? It’s a great bar, it’s always a great atmosphere and it isn’t overpriced like everything else in Astoria! My go to appetizer when I come here for drinks is the spinach dip and the wings! Yum in my tum.

I live near this Bar and about 10 years have never stepped into it. I finally got past the hesitation of thinking«hey I can go in next time» and decided to meet a friend here for drinks. Although the outside looks dark and makes the place seem unwelcoming, it is super nice once you’re inside. I’m so happy to see that such an awesome place exists near me. The drinks were great. I can’t comment too much on the food as I only had French fries, but I would def go back for the ambience and the crowd. So glad I finally ventured inside! :)

Cute like bar/restaurant in Astoria that serve some pretty good drinks and wings. I ordered the quesadilla which was okay, but too much cheese for me. Good service and nice dim interior make it a sweet place for a date or just sitting at the bar with friends.

Disclaimer: This is my local since I live right around the corner. That said, they have amazing pub food. Their wings are some of the best around. Their Sunday football menu is great from top to bottom. Even their entrees like the pork chop or hanger steak which I wouldn’t normally think to order from a bar are fantastic. They have a solid draft beer selection that is constantly changing along with a full bar. Ambiance is part sports bar, with multiple tv’s and a dart board, and part comfy restaurant with good lighting, nice wood work, exposed brick etc. Staff are all good people as well. Always looking to go above and beyond to accommodate. Such as when I request my wings half hot/half BBQ. Not six and six but mix the sauce. Can easily list this as one of my Astoria, no scratch that, NYC favorite bars.

This place was a hit! Lynn the bartender was super sweet, she suggested the wings were the best around, she nailed it! The wings were the business. We also tried the spinach dip, I’ve had better, but in all fairness I’m from California. Things differ from the East to the West Coasts. Nonetheless, this was a great local spot close to our hotel near the airport.

A deep and wonderful love for Blackbirds. This bar is around the corner from me and the price is always right. Keeps are great and are Johnny/Jane on the spot weeknights or weekends. Nothing fancy about Blackbirds and I prefer it that way. Just your solid neighborhood bar, with a good dart area, jukebox, and an easy pour. I’ve had the food here in there — in various stages of sobriety — and I’ve never been disappointed. I miss bingo on Tuesday nights … that was so much fun even if the copious shots of tequila for winning so often was not. But I digress — you live in Astoria you need to come here for a pint. One thing I really want to give props to Blackbirds for was helping my roommate run a major fundraising effort. She’s part of a Catholic youth group that was raising funds to build homes for the poor in Peru. The bar and owners were beyond helpful and just great about providing space and resources, and well that’s a class act to me.

Found this place more or less by mistake when looking for a bar on 30th to watch a football game. And I’m so happy we did! They don’t look like your average sports bar, but they’ve got a really great Sunday Night Football menu, and lots of screens. Beers under $ 7? Check. $ 6 for a dozen wings? Check. I’m in football heaven. Oh, also their wings are PERFECTLY crispy and saucy and delicious. No complaints from me. It is a little hard to get a feel for this place, just because it seems like it kind of can’t decide what its personality is. It’s got these super cute tabletops, exposed brick, and huge windows, but they seem like they really want to be a sports bar, with a huge screen and couches in the back to watch the game, and a menu that features buckets of beer and bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Still, it meant that I could watch the game somewhere not to crowded with all the food I wanted, all under $ 20.

I tried Blackbird’s on a Monday night on a lark. First impression: what a visually attractive place. Spacious, beautiful woodwork on the bar, great lighting that’s truly enhanced by the Christmas lights. It’s a really attractive bar, a mix of what you might find in Long Island suburbs or out of state in places like Overton Square in Memphis or beachside in Gulf Shores, Clearwater, or Margaritaville. With a jukebox at a perfect volume cranking out 60s-80s rock stables, the vibe was exactly what you want from a neighborhood bar. I ordered the borough, and it was more than I anticipated. A generous portion of their take on chicken cordon bleu, smothered in a luxurious cream sauce. The menu was varied for a bar and prices were on the lower end of New York pricings. This really was yummy going down, and sat heavy the way winter comfort food does. So why only three stars? Two reasons, the less important one first: The place couldn’t have been an eighth full, but service was a bit inattentive and slow. Chalk it up to a slow Monday ringing lethargic, but it took close to ten minutes before I was asked what I wanted. I didm’ see evidence of a shift change. The staff who I spoke to were nice enough, but not as friendly and attentive as Dillinger’s up the road or Judy & Punch further down 30th. More important, my food did not agree with me at all, and that night and the next day I had to eat a lot of fiber to firm things up, if you get the drift without me being graphic. I have an iron stomach, and eat the same thing for lunch every day(Pret a Manger salad). So I naturally deduce the unpleasant time in the bathroom was due to my dinner. With that said, I’m not willing to write the place off, and may go again for safer option like wings and beer. Go if you want a comfortable dining experience, but be wary what you order.

ASTORIA… boy there’s A LOT of places to eat here. I can honestly say, I have probably been to 50% of them. I would also like to call myself a «bar food» connoisseur. In «bar food» i mean your basics… wings, mozz sticks, quesadillas, burgers… none of this hip«duck wings fried in duck fat» business. THAT being said… Blackbird’s… you ROCK at bar food. Legit, everything I have eaten here has been delicious. Beers have been fresh, drinks have been cold, and Bartenders have been friendly. Need a good wing place… HEREYOUARE. I really have only been here Saturday daytime, week night so I cant speak for their party atmosphere, but I can say I think the inside is adorable. It’s a BIT of the path for Astoria, but totes worth the extra couple of block walk.

From the first time I went to brunch and heard a belligerent drunk scream«BRUCEJENNER’S GETTINGNAILEDINTHEASS!» from the front of the bar, I knew this place was special. It’s true. Sometimes the clientele can be a little unruly(I later saw the same man try to high five a dog), but the staff, food and specials here are supremely badass. Go on Wednesday nights for their $ 6 wing special + $ 4 for any pint of draft beer(SIDENOTE: This option is now CASHONLY). Their shrimp po-boys, burgers and handmade cream cheese and bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers live up to the hype. For a while they were offering a free draft beer with any food order after 2AM. It’s a great way to keep the party going! The staff do their best to make everyone feel welcome, even the ones who are so shit faced that they think it’s still the 1950s and that dogs have hands.

Unfortunately they got rid of my favorite vegetable foccacia sandwich! I guess not too many people ordered it because apparently they were throwing out too much of the bread every week. They replaced it with a portobello mushroom sandwich on a plain roll with roasted peppers, mozzarella and a pesto sauce. Ehhh, I didn’t care for it. There was too much cheese that was globby and overwhelming and not enough pesto. The plain roll is just that — plain. What I loved about the focaccia sandwich was that it had more seasoning and flavor that a plain roll. I still love Blackbird’s as it’s a great place in the hood to watch sports and the bartenders are fantastic(shoutout to the busser whose name is Omar I think. He seriously works his tail off) but they need another vegetarian option on their menu.

Stopped in here with some friends on a Friday night for a bit. Its a pretty good place. Kinda has that«Cheers» atmosphere to it. It seems a lot of the people in there knew each other and were friendly. They also serve food here and I ordered the spinach dip nachoes which hit the spot. I played some darts with people who clearly play a lot more than I do and got my ass kicked LoL But it was fun. I hit the bullseye somehow and it totally made my night haha only thing I wish they’d do is put the music up a tad– it was pretty low. I dunno– music to me at a bar is important otherwise it gets boring fast. I don’t need it to be where you are shouting at each other but a little louder woulda been cool. Drinks were good, food was good, atmosphere was good, and people were friendly so this place is A-OK in my book.

OK, so here’s the deal, my boyfriend adorns this place while I on the other hand do not fancy it so much. I am not quite sure I would bring my friends here. The wings are cool, that’s all he usually orders anyway. This past Sunday, I was there to watch the Patriots beat the Giants(notice term ‘beat’) lol and I had the Spinach and Cheese Dip. Now, my fellow Unilocalers, I chose this app because of the reviews I read. It was merely okay, I wish they would add artichoke to it because I felt like I was eating sour cream and spinach with melted cheese on top. I would not order it again. Our server was pretty nice, turned me down because I forgot my ID but I commend him for doing his job! Once I came back with my ID, he gladly served me my Pint and dip. Well done. All in all, I would come here for wings. That’s it!

— Solid wings. The nuclear wasn’t spicy at all, in my opinion, but they were still very flavorful. — GREAT craft beer list. Something for everyone. — GREAT jukebox and TVs all around. — Friendly staff. — Yummy sweet potato fries with a delicious chipotle dipping sauce. You should come here if you like wings… And beer… And more wings.

Came in tonight, Thursday, 8−20−15 and I must say that despite the great atmosphere and cool 2000’s music, We were very disappointed with the service. My friend and I sat at the bar and we were greeted in a very unfriendly way by our female bartender. It looked as if she had a bad day and like she didn’t even want to be there. We as the customers, don’t have to deal with such horrible attitude –because it’s not our problem. We ordered the sangria, and it was half-priced. We were pleased with how good it tasted, so we opted to order guacamole; there was a Thursday special for $ 18 on both the sangria and guacamole. Once we decided to order the guacamole it was as if the bartender didn’t want to notice us. The bar table wasn’t even halfway packed and she was still acting oblivious in serving us. No checking up –nothing. We got so turned off that I decided to just ask for the check. To sum it up, place was nice and dandy but the bartender was not. Won’t be coming back unless: A) There’s a different bartender B) I find out her day off. (Fortunately for her, we didn’t find out her name. I left the receipt there.)

Guy Fieri would love this place for Triple D!!! This is the type of neighborhood bar he has on his show. The décor is very simple and has lots of TVs and my favorite a dart board. I came here with my gf and 2 friends to watch the Ranger game. They won 1 – 0. For apps we ordered steak tidbets and fully loaded nachos. OMG how good both apps where. For dinner my gf had the winter salad that was big enough for 2 people to eat. It had pears beets and crostini bread with goat cheese. One of my friends had the shrimp po boy. It was a big sandwhich. My friend and I had the brisket sandwhich. oMG!!!,! Everyone must try this sandwhich. It was super tender. I would never expect a place like this to produce 5 star quality food. If u never been here you should go.

This place should be on Triple D Guy Fieri would love this place! The food was amazing. Saw some great reviews so i had faith in my Unilocalers. My boyfriend and his friends wanted to come here to watch the hockey team so thats how we ended up here. We ordered nachos with chili bc our waitress asked if we did i said i guess… They had lots of jalapenos and def had some kick. I ordered the warm winter salad. I asked the waitress what the size of the salad was. She said its a pretty big size and she wasnt kidding… The salad was warm well dressed in a warm balsamic dressing parsnips. Pears, beets and this crostini bread with goat cheese. All ingredients tasted fresh and were delicious. I love when a place uses seasonal ingredients. Love when the menu changes seasonal! My bf got the brisket sandwich. I sneaked a piece and it was out of this world… I think next time i will order it. Super moist and tender! Overall the place was great but the place wasnt packed but the food did take forever to come out. The food was really good just need to be patient!

I really enjoy this bar. Real laid back but the wait staff is always great. The wings and French fries are delicious and always hit the spot. The sweet potato fries are also yummy. The buffalo chicken wrap is not good at all, just don’t even bother. Drinks aren’t as strong as I’d like but they have a good beer selection. I need to need try the chicken & waffles that I hear are awesome here.

Always walked by this spot, decided to give it a try today. The establishment is located on a corner with plenty of street parking. Gives you a feel as if you are walking into a cave, credited to the design of the entrance. The atmosphere & décor gives you that laid back vibe. Our Waitress/Bartender was Cool, Friendly & Attentive EZ conversations. They offer a variety of special throughout the week, today Friday The Hurricane was on special for $ 8.00, it was a complete *Fail* a 16oz glass consisting of 99% percent juice. The Chicken Quesadillas were banging & there spicy cucumber salsa was surprisingly good. Spicy & Sweet yummy! Last but definitely not least. I heard such rave reviews about, The Q18 blackbird’s own 50 – 50 burger! half bacon and half chop meat served with french fries! Well dammit I had to try it. I had my Cow/Pig prepared medium rare! The burger was cooked perfectly, but such a let down. The blend was ok, it was not a bad burger by far, but did not live up to the hype, not even close to my top 5 burger list. I wished they would of chose a different bun maybe a pretzel bun. Overall nice chill atmosphere that I will return to, maybe for the Mac & Cheese that I seen everyone ordering :). I am such a pig I swear, food would be the death of me!
