So good! One of the best Greek food that I’ve had! It’s also very nice inside, and the service was extremely wonderful!

Believe it or not this joint has slowly become our favorite Greek food spot in Astoria. Don’t have to wait around forever like the over hyped Kyklades. More consistent good quality and service than Agnanti. Way tastier than Alliada. We used to really like Gregory’s tavern but upon last visit when we were met by a C rating on the window we turned around and decided to go back when they got their act together Anyway back to the artist formerly known as Stamatis. Bahari is a straight forward, cozy, relaxing yet semi intense fun place to have a weekend dinner. The food is always really good(sometimes great) and the service is friendly, fast and professional. I’ve tried about a dozen different dishes here and have never been let down. My favorites are the lamb sliced thin and the roasted chicken, and the octopus, and the chicken souvlaki, and… you get the picture. The wife and I also always split a half carafe of house red which works out super convenient. Place gets crowded with a diverse, noisy clientele so if you’re looking for a romantic 3rd date spot this might not be the perfect fit. Just about any other scenario is a go though, we take our parents here, friends, even peeps visiting from out of town. Just a solid, happy, cozy place to have a great meal, some wine and some laughs. They even throw in a free dessert every time! Give it a shot next time you’re in the mood for Greek, you will be glad you did!

I was pretty disappointed in my visit. Our bread was stale and cold. Our chicken breast over cooked and the lemon potatoes were dry and old. The baby lamb was good but not worth $ 29 for 4 small pieces. Not sure why I ventured out of Taverna Kyclades(my favorite) or Aliada(my 2nd favorite)…guess I should not have tried fixing what wasn’t broken.

Came here on a whim while vacationing from Florida visiting family, was a phenomenal traditional Greek lunch. Would definitely recommend if you’re craving Greek! Will be back on our next visit!

My family and I are regulars here. The food and service is consistently great. Best way to order here is appetizers, appetizers, appetizers. That’s not to take away from their main dishes which are equally as excellent. But, why limit your options? We like to order a whole bunch of appetizers, from grilled octopus to fried calamari, drunken saganaki, salads, sausage, horta, dips… the list goes on and on. Occasionally we’ll throw an entrée in the mix. My favorite is the whole, broiled branzino. Delicious!

Have you ever tried to find your way through the Greek restaurant jungle in Astoria? We have been practicing this special activity for the past 5 years. Especially based on friends tips, word of mouth etc… At the end even if I am still convinced that there are still a couple of undiscovered places from our side, so we have a pretty complete overview about the offer. So our personal favorite is surely neither the most fancy nor the one everybody talks about(especially because«the one» changed too often the past years), but only the one we considered the best for food, hospitality and prices so just the real deal. Bahari in our opinion made a perfect job the past 5 years we have been there. The food is consistent, the place is welcoming not too cozy not too sophisticated just right. They understand how to grill lamb chops(a real big issue in the neighborhood). Personally I am a taramo salad freak, and I must say they just do it right. I love the fact to see the fresh fish, and the meats displayed when you enter the place and let you salivating about your upcoming order. As said it is just down to earth 90% of the clients are loyal Greek customers, so no question about the authenticity of the food. I love the fact that you always get a little sweets on the house after your meal and that the carafe(1 liter) of wine is like the rest just right and exactly the perfect size to let us enjoy a cozy meal. Last but not least they take CC(another issue in the neighborhood) and still don’t overprice. SO for those who needs an alternative to our LIC restaurants, believe me all included(cab, food, wine, baby sitter and all) still the best bet to enjoy Greek food in the neighborhood. And a special thanks to the staff that really makes a great job and always make you feel at home. Was this review ???

Grilled fish! Other dishes are good too, but don’t leave here without ordering some grilled fish. Fried fish works too.

This is my top choice of greek food whenever someone visits me in Astoria. Friendly service, delicious food, reasonable prices, and you can make a reservation! Grilled Octopus is a MUST. So perfectly grilled every time. The vegetables look mushy but they are soo yummy And you can’t go wrong w the classic greek salad The atmosphere is great because you feel like you’re eating in a greek family’s living room. The living room is well decorated and you’re treated like family.

I enjoy this greek restaurant. I love the décor and the squid and the fish dishes — I’ll take the red snapper and sea bass again please. The salad portions here are huge.

A nice alternative when you don’t feel like waiting on line at Kyclades We had sausage to start, spicy and crisp. We also had the house salad, which was, unfortunately, mediocre, with limp lettuce and bland feta. But the whole filletted dorade was superb — moist and lemony, with a crisp skin. A side of orzo was nice. Service was friendly; the space was too bright(as most Greek restaurants seem to be), but clean, and the joint was jumpin’. Right near the subway, too. Nice.

Great Greek food! This is my go-to when I have out-of-town guests. It may not look like much from the street, but the restaurant is spacious and bright. One potential downside is that the service was very slow. The servers are very polite, but somehow it always seems to take three hours for dinner. As long as you know to expect that ahead of time, it’s not too bad. Just don’t make after-dinner plans. ;-)

I enjoyed the quality and preparation of my meal and ordered: the small dips platter, Greek Salad, grilled Prawns, grilled quail and lemon chicken soup. The sizes were perfect and I highly recommend the dips platter. I never wanted it to end! The space is inviting and spacious and it was a memorable meal!

Actually I don’t know how an authentic greek food taste like. All I know is this restaurant serves a delicious food! I’ve been here a couple of times & sometimes order a delivery. I aways get the okra, chicken & fish. Everything taste excellent! The service is great! Servers are attentive. I highly recommend this place!

So we just moved into the neighborhood last month, and I had yet to try a Greek resturant, so on my walk back to my apartment I kept passing Bahari and finally decided that tonight I would pull the trigger. The restaurant is way bigger on the inside then you’d think from the outside. A narrow path leads to a large dinning area in the back of the restaurant. A buddy of mine raves about grilled octopus and after reading some favorable reviews for it at this place I gave it a try and I have never been happier to try something new. So flavorful and tender. It’s listed as an appetizer but my friend and I would have gladly have ate a larger portion as a main course. I cannot recommend this dish enough. I ordered the biftekia, which is spiced ground beef patties with tzatziki sauce. The patties were delicious and juicy and the tzatziki sauce was very flavorful and made for a great flavor pairing with the spices of the beef. The meal ended with a lovely little complementary dessert. The staff was very attentive, even when the restaurant quickly went from lightly populated to packed. A great meal experience and I look very much to coming again.

Went here for lunch with my coworker’s. We were seated in the back room, which was extremely cute with all the plants and the brick wall. To be frank, I don’t even know what I ate that afternoon; our boss ordered three bottles of wine for us so I was quite sleepy by the end of the meal. I do remember that everything was served family-style and it was delicious. There was Greek Salad, Fried Calamari, Grilled Octopus, Lemon Potatoes, Sausages, and Fried Zucchini. Service was slow, but that was probably the server wanted to give all of us some privacy. Also, although the food was excellent, it was a heavy lunch with a lot of either fried food or too much olive oil… Might want to come again to try something else

Came here with my husband and his friends. The service is great, attentive and friendly. The food is fresh, delicious and large portions. The grilled octopus is so fresh and refreshing that we put in another order to go. The grilled salmon was delicious and huge that I had to take it home to finish. There was so much food that comes with the entrees. My kids love the lima beans that comes with the entrees. The mousaka is delicious and ohhh ssooo good. Just typing this is making it mouthwatering for me to eat. Were heading back there with empty stomach.

My family planned to go here for my birthday dinner last night. They looked up the menu, looked at Unilocal reviews, etc. Everything came back sounding great. We walked into this place around 7PM, and the décor was lovely! The place was pretty large, and the food on everyone’s plates looked amazing. I hadn’t eaten all say, so I was practically drooling at the menu. They had so many things! And a lot of vegetarian options, for my veggie friends. We started off with red wine. They came out with bread, but we replaced it with pita because my sister asked. That was nice. I didn’t like the red wine, it tasted watered down. I don’t eat red meat, but since it was my birthday, I decided to order lamb! The order said leg of lamb with lemon potatoes. I also ordered a big salad and a large chunk of feta cheese. The lamb came out and it was drowning in a sauce that the menu didn’t mention that it came with. Luckily, the sauce was good, so I ate it. The lamb was soft and tasty. The lemon potatoes, however, were only 3 tiny potatoes! And they were a bit burnt. And not very lemon-y. Being a HUGE potato fan, I ordered a side of lemon potatoes(I think it was 5 bucks), expecting a big portion, and it was another 3! I was in shock. TINY portion! The salad was okay, but how can you mess up a salad? My sister ordered a spinach pie, and she didn’t like it, and neither did I. The phyllo tasted weird, and it tasted more like a burnt cake with no cheese and just very little mushy spinach. She also ordered fried zucchini and wasn’t crazy about that. I’m not saying this place was bad, I just wasn’t impressed. The reviews and ambience gave me extremely high expectations for this place, and I was let down. But my belly was full, and the meal was free(my family paid, it was my birthday), so I was happy enough! They also give you free dessert. I don’t like Greek dessert(shame on me), so I didn’t eat it, but yeah.

Delicious food and wonderful service. I’ve been here for a late lunch/early dinner when there aren’t as many tables and service is always spot on. The Greek salad is always a good starter. Large portion, just big enough to share. I love grilled seafood, so we got the grill shrimp and grilled calamari before. With a side of lemon potatoes and rice, it’s the perfect amount to share with another person. The artichokes and peas vegetable side is different, but tasty. Location is convenient being right near the Broadway stop on the N/Q in Astoria. The meal ends with two small pieces of dessert. Love the custard one, not sure what the other dessert is. But it’s the perfect size to cleanse your palate.

4÷3÷2015 This is a really great, authentic Greek restaurant. The food and ambience were exceptional. Fresh flowers on the tables really add a nice touch. The service was good as well, our server just seemed a little rushed. I ordered the mousakas(layers of eggplant, ground beef, potato and topped with béchamel cream) and my bf had the levraki(whole stripped bass) with sides of green beans and potatoes. I really enjoyed the food, especially the soup and the potatoes were seasoned to perfection. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone interested in some Greek food, in the area!
