We came here after seeing Impractical Jokers in the city. We had originally planned to just go somewhere and get drinks but we realized we hadn’t eaten since 3pm, and it was pushing 10pm now. So, stomachs must be appeased first. I ordered the Spicy Girl roll and the shrimp mango crunch. They came together on 1 plate in the shape of a fish. That’s meta if you ask me. The spicy girl roll was delicious, but it wasn’t spicy. At least I have the Americanized wasabi to get some bite out of my food. The restaurant is lovely, and the purple coloring and light fixtures are great touches. The restroom was also clean. The waitress brought out a bowl of edamame as she said our service was taking long, but in the end it didn’t. We were grateful for it either way. They must put butter on their edamame, we got a strong taste of that, which was different.

YUM! Their spicy edemame is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! Everything we ordered was delicious but looking forward to going back for the edemame. The service was good and the staff very friendly. Definitely worth trying.

This is the highest rated sushi place on Seamless and Grubhub for a reason! I’ve ordered the salmon sashimi and Astoria Roll from here twice for delivery and both times, I’ve gotten the sushi fast and it’s been delicious. Def my go-to place for sushi delivery; will have to dine in one of these days.

We ordered out based on their 5 star seamless review and were disappointed about the meal. Ordered the following: Yaki Soba Tofu Veg Pad Thai Steak Pad Thai Veg Gyoza Avocado/Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll The Pad Thai tasted the most mediocre, had no flavor, and included five pieces of broccoli. The other things were meh.

Love! My preferred sushi joint in the neighborhood. The quality can be inconsistent at times. But on average they make the best traditional and fusion sushi around. Their appetizers are also on point. Try the coconut shrimp, the Dream App, and the Tuna & Avocado Pizza. Favorite rolls: Ditmars; Halloween; Naruto. Also check out the lunch special. Best deal in town.

First review of the New Year, and the first review in my tenure as a 2016 badge holder. Thank you powers that be, thank you Unilocal, and thanks to our fearless leader(Jando, Queens CM extraordinaire). As seen with the most immediate preceding review, I have a tendency to look back on the past and reflect; while it is very important to push forward, being unshackled from the mistakes and folly from yesteryear, it is just as important to reminisce on such times so that such blunders can be avoided moving forward. Just such a transgression occurred the very last time I looked upon this place… and I feel it appropriate to start the New Year by taking a look on a night that ranks as one of the bigger personal failures, of yours truly, in the bygone year of 2015. It was September 9, 2015. Our group, collective, «ministry», circle of sorts, etc., had plans to meet on this day. Alas, our numbers started to drop like flies until we were left but two persons strong who were still willing to adhere to the original schedule and not flake. It was but a he and a her, a guy and a girl, a «Me» and a «Miss.» This was a miss who this particular writer had taken a shine to, and for all the patience and resilience that had been practiced for the better part of the past half decade, it was all for naught(despite any recent changes to status). Prior to our rendezvous here, plenty of drinks were consumed at two venues that we had visited previously, within the vicinity, in rapid succession. This place ended up being the final staging ground for the demise of whatever things had been, and it was all too appropriate a place. Stepping in just a shade before ten o’clock in the P.M.(crippled by booze, damaged ego, in wanting for an expression of the truth held within)… it goes without saying that we(I) were(was) hungry. There was just another couple in the place, and we were seated at the far end, with the dim illumination, from the neon lighting adorning the top of the sushi bar in the back, being our main source of luminescence. It was a quiet, atmospheric, and private place. An unplanned stroke of luck was what I thought… in the few moments that we were in the place, at least. Prior to any ordering of food, more libations were requested. Despite a skinny frame, it was impressive at how she kept up, drink for drink. The sake we ordered was served in a very ornamental vessel; t’was a delicate thing, but almost novel in how it chilled the liquid it held. And cold sake always pairs well with Japanese beer, and that pairing does a deceptively efficient job at whittling down inhibitions… Soon, discussions of future plans(even mutual outings between«Me» and«Miss») were discussed, and all suggested by/delivered/received on my dining partner’s end very calmly… quite the far cry from her typically grumpy/prickly/awkward disposition which, to her credit, is packaged in a very cosmetically and aesthetically appealing«box.» It was as appropriate a time as any to order food at this point; for the life of me, I’ve not the most cogent recollection as to what we ate. I remember only feelings of a satisfied stomach, and tastiness(one of the rolls we had had shrimp tempura and spicy mayo drizzled on it… I was quite fond of that one). Needless to say, our pleasant experience here was nothing more than a prelude to what was an almost-immediate destruction of any good will garnered from both parties over the course of years. A combination of decisive decision making, insensitivity(as to both sides), and honesty is to thank for this ruinous outcome. Even after the passage of time between then and now, the enjoyable dinner that two people once enjoyed here ultimately translates to nothing more but a shadowy reminder of that. Looks like I’ll just stick to ordering out from here going forward(refer to my previous review for this place for more on that) :P

No question should you come here for sushi. My wife and I are regulars here. Personally the best sushi I’ve had in queens period. Nice, friendly, professional, and the food is amazing. I have no complaints at all. Food is always fresh always clean prices are very reasonable. If you love sushi I highly recommend you check this place out, RIGHTNOW!

This wasn’t my first choice to dine at since it’s not in my neighborhood but I’m glad my friend and I came across this place after looking up places on Unilocal.I’m giving Aji 5 stars because our waitress was phenomenal and so sweet and attentive. Our sushi was fresh and tasty and I could tell that the other customers were regulars because our waitress even knew what they planned to order before they said anything! The price is right, the food is good, and there’s a lot of residential parking. And dessert menu looked pretty good, but even if you don’t want their dessert, Martha’s is right across the street :)

Strong 3.5, rounded up for a menu gloriously more varied than their local competition, tremendously kind and friendly customer service(both in-house and delivery), obviously well prepared sushi rice, and generosity. They were a bit slow getting to my order, but the woman who called to inform they were our of Sea Urchin was so genuinely nice, I couldn’t be annoyed in the least. Once the order was confirmed, the sushi arrived quickly(though not frighteningly so). Super adorable and friendly delivery guy. And the first thing I see when I open the bag is a complimentary order of Rock Shrimp Tempura, with a little sticker saying ‘Free’ on it(I presume due to the inconvenience of the replacement, lag in delivery time, and/or size of order). Only had three bites, as it was too salty for me. But so kind of them to offer. Hong Kong Style Wonton Soup — solidly prepared. kinda like hot/sour broth had a fun night with wonton soup… Jumbo Shrimp Shumai — THE. BOMB!!! Will order these EVERY time!!! Aji Roll — The red pepper tuna is subtle but delightful! Roll was fine«naked», good with ginger, and came together with the sauces. King Crab Roll — flavorful, actually spicy king crab. Though you don’t get the awesome sweetness of king crab… sooo… Crispy Duck Roll — The duck was crispy and on point. Liked the sauces. Didn’t like it as a whole… weird to eat… but a nice try. Striped Bass/Black pepper Tuna/Scottish Salmon/Salmon Roe/Scallop single sushi — all good! VERY generous scallop. Tight roe. I’ll be back, and would actually be interested in dining in!

Let’s just say that if I lived close to this place, I’d be in BIG trouble! Been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. Usually get the special rolls and all the ones I’ve tried are good. Dragon eye roll, amazing tuna roll, mango Hawaii roll — just to name a few. Don’t think you can’t go wrong with any of their rolls. They even give you complimentary apps like edamame! But seriously, not only does the food taste good, but the presentation is quite amazing! The service was great! (btw, someone mentioned that the dragon eye roll was warm… it’s supposed to be because it’s fried! :p) And another side note, this is not your Michelin 5-star restaurant where you have an omakase. Now, go enjoy!

Stop Here. Right Now. There is no need, whatsoever, to ever again go to Watawa Sushi. This place has amazing customer service, that frankly does not even begin to compare with Watawa. The food is spectacular. My boyfriend and I had such a wide range of things, so let’s start with the appetizers. The kani salad– best kani salad I’ve had in a long, long time. Super fresh, with what i think is shredded cucumber to give it some extra texture and crunch. The tempora flakes were a nice touch. The jumbo steamed shrimp shumai were just jam packed with shrimp and completely tasty. I had the chicken udon(i was in the mood for soup, and i know this area of town is not known for their udon) but i have to say– DELICIOUS. Totally worth satisfying my craving. My boyfriend(and I, because frankly I love sushi and needed to try) had the house sushi entrée which included 9 different types of rolls and 1 spicy tuna roll(with tempura crunch). SOFRESH. I couldn’t believe it. Just as we were completely stuffed, a few of the extremely friendly staff offered us home made strawberry ice cream. Couldn’t resist. I should have because after this meal I needed to be rolled out by umpa-lumpa’s but totally worth it.

Tasty, pretty, quick! My husband and I have ordered delivery from here many times. The seafood fried rice is YUMMMMMMMM!!! Today I dined in with a friend and we shared the sushi/sashimi for 2 as well as a bottle of warm sake. Everything tastes great and fresh and the servers were very accommodating. Check this place out!

Excellent! The food was very great! The vegetable soup and the shrimp shumai was yummy! The sushi tasted fresh and delicious! The service was great, the ambiance was great for date or with friends and family. Everyone was very friendly and attentive, you should try the green tea, it goes very well with the food.

Loved this spot! Been wanting to try it forever and the 15% off forced me to actually check it out. The sashimi platter was amazing and fresh. The scallop appetizer was also yummy. But over all of these perks, the staff was super sweet and very attentive. They made our dining experience great. We ordered crème brûlée for dessert but they were out of it. We weren’t annoyed at all or anything but the manager gave us some housemade ice cream on the house. It was delicious! And I’ll definitely be returning.

I came to this restaurant last night. We had an 830 reservation, which was required because the restaurant is small and there aren’t many tables. The lights are dark and it’s very modern looking. It’s a nice place to bring a date. We ordered some wine, green salad, spicy tuna roll, a dragon roll, and two pieces of yellowtail sushi. All the sushi was fresh and delicious. We also ordered udon noodles with beef, which were delicious. The service here was very good. The server was attentive, and she didn’t rush us. We took our time eating and enjoying our meal. Also, if you check into Unilocal on the Unilocal app here, you get 15 percent off the check, which was pretty cool. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in Astoria!

I came here with my family to celebrate my dad’s 65th birthday. Despite calling just one day prior to the event, we made a dinner reservation easily for 6:30pm on a Friday, a table for 9. My sister and I were concerned that we would have been rushed through dinner given that we had a larger party in a rather small restaurant in the hustling and bustling Astoria, but the hostess promised us won’t regret choosing Aji Sushi House and that they’d having something special planned for my dad. We all arrived by our reservation time and was greeted by our wonderful waitress, whose name I unfortunately never caught. She has short hair and was just a ball of fire. We ordered a few hot appetizers including 2 orders of the grilled barbecue squid, 2 orders of scallop motoyaki, 2 orders of the oyster yaki. For the main courses we ordered the sushi sashimi platter #2(21 pieces of sashimi, 10 pieces sushi, with a magic roll) and an assortment speciality rolls to share. The first thing they brought out was a huge platter of kani salad, on the house. It was delicious, light, and refreshing with a nice little kick. Great way to start a meal. The barbecue squid came out next. It was a very generous size, had great flavor, and was not rubbery at the least. But my oh my the scallop motoyaki was like heaven on Earth! So rich, so creamy, so savory! The complexity of broiled Japanese mayonnaise-based sauce with caviar atop the sweetness of the scallops and crabmeat made for a mouth-wateringly delightful bite. It is a little on the saltier and heavier side, so this appetizer is best shared for the health and body conscious. I’ve had a similar dish to this before(called«kaiyaki») at Sapporo East in the LES, but after they closed down I thought I would never have it again… I was so sad! Anyway, and just when I thought nothing can be better or nearly as delicious, came out the oyster yaki! Each order comes with 5 pieces of lightly fried oysters served on individual shells. Each oyster was dribbled with a wonderful concoction of butter, lemon juice, and garlic. I die. Finally, came out the main courses consisting of sushi, sashimi, and specialty rolls. While everything was very fresh and delicious, I would be lying if I said anything stood out in particular. Having a taste of each roll after roll, everything started tasting very much the same. Don’t get me wrong, it was still VERY good but nonetheless similar to rolls I can get from other sushi restaurants. I love how they do not give too much rice. When we were all said and done, our waitress brought out a large order of homemade vanilla ice cream with fried bananas — again, on the house. She even led us to all sing«happy birthday.» She is just amazing! When our check came and we charged our credit card, we realized that we were not given our Unilocal check-in offer of 15% off all dine-ins. Our waitress was very upset and apologetic as she had completely forgotten that I had showed her the offer at the very beginning when we were first seated. Since it was charged already, they said it cannot be refunded. We were told they would just give us the discount next time when we come back. That got a little weird, but it’s partly our fault since we did not look at our check to make sure everything was correct before we handed our credit card over. Nonetheless we came to a conclusion that we will just pretend that 15% was part of the tip and we’d just add a few extra percentages to give what we had originally intended anyway. All is well. Overall, I think this place is fabulous not only because of the mind-blowing hot appetizers but because the service here is phenomenal(minus the awkward crinkle in the end).

My friend and I came here for dinner on a weeknight. There was no wait and there were only two or three other parties in the entire place. Service was pretty good, but whenever theres only a few people in a restaurant I feel like there’s always eyes staring at me. And that was the case here. The menu was huge but in the end I decided to get the Maki B: spicy tuna roll, spicy crunchy salmon roll & spicy crab. There were a total of 18 pieces of sushi which is a lot! There was more fish in the rolls than rice surrounding it so that was great and you don’t see this often in sushi restaurants. Pretty fresh fish. They also gave us a free octopus salad appetizer on the house which was really good. If you check in on Unilocal you get a discount on your meal too!

I didn’t have takeout or service issues like some other reviewers have mentioned, but I just wasn’t all that impressed with their sushi. It was fine, nothing particularly wrong with it, but I don’t understand the high rating. The pork gyoza were standard and a little under fried. You can skip the spicy onion roll. It’s not spicy and all you taste is the raw red onion inside. You can just chop up some onions instead. The magic roll was odd. The rock shrimp didn’t really come together with the rest of the roll, the«Cajun» sauce came on the side, you couldn’t taste the lobster, I’m not sure what they were trying to go for. The dragon roll and salmon avocado roll are also fine. The dragon roll was falling apart and was rather warm. They gave me free edamame but I’ll be trying others places.

Aji sushi is a gem! So glad I tried this place! Came here for lunch and right when we walked in we were greeted by a super happy and excited waitress who made us laugh the whole time! She seemed so happy to have us here and was really fun to be around. Such a good customer service experience! The food is on point! The sashimi and the rolls were all really fresh and they gave generous portions at a pretty inexpensive price point. such a steal! On top of the good deal, if you check on Unilocal there is an additional 15% off the whole bill. If I lived closer this would be one of my go to sushi spots! If you’re ever in Astoria, be sure to check this place out! You won’t be disappointed and hopefully the waitress will brighten your day as well :)
