Food was good but not great, nothing to write home about. Extremely overpriced & not worth the cost at all. Smaller portions than hoping for. Very loud and hard to have a conversation, even for some 30 something’s.

Loved this restaurant! Our waiter, Bryan, was as memorable as the food. Excellent recommendations including peel and eat shrimp which were delicious and they are prepared in such a way that I didn’t have to use my fingers to peel them. He also recommended a side of a new veggie that is kale and Brussels sprouts. My husband hates kale but Bryan did such a great job selling this dish that we tried it and wanted more. Small restaurant but well worth trying. One of our tops in Aspen!

They serve LIONFISH?! YESPLEASE. Apparently, one of the cofounders dives down in Florida and the Carribean himself to shoot those invasive, hungry, disruptive and super bad for the Atlantic badboys, Lion Fish. He then freezes them up asap and ships them off to Aspen. The prices are typical Aspen prices(ahem, pricey) and the décor is similar to the NYC Grey Lady. Service is excellent. Drinks are great. Is there anything at all to complain about?(still not complaining about prices, seeing how we’re in Aspen and everything) We had a huge dinner party of 20+ people. We had to be broken up and seated in 2 looong sets of tables. We didn’t mind. Food came out pretty quickly considering the large party and everything was amazingly delicious, seasoned well, and fresh. The only thing I would change would be the Lion Fish specialty card. The waitress gives you a card explaining the importance of hunting Atlantic Lion Fish and that tonight’s lion fish special will be awesome! Well… how is it cooked? why is the dish special? what’s so tasty about it? it has no information whatsoever on what the dish is like(except, of course, that it has lion fish in it)

Great food. Great service. What a wonderful place. One piece of advice, definitely make reservation if you can. We walked in and was seated in the bar area. But, the services was really wonderful as if we are in the restaurant! Everyone checked up on us and were extremely attentive. The food? Wow!!! I had the steak and egg. I’m still salivating. I ordered medium rare and it was perfect. Hubby ordered scallop… We shared and loved the food. We also ordered a bottle of wine. Yum. Then, there is the dessert. Bottom up everything!!! The food was excellent!!! Oops. Just remembered… We also had some oysters. Yummy!!!

After coming across the Grey Lady on Unilocal,I decided to book a table over the very busy week between Christmas and New Years. We arrived around 8pm and the place was packed. They had added on additional space with a tent, but we were luckily seated in the main dinning room. The space is super casual and has a bar-like vibe. A nice change from the many super upscale dining options in Aspen. Service was very friendly from the get-go. The Maryland blue crab cakes were perfectly moist and flavorful, particularly with the old bay crème fraîche. Chefs mussels were excellent. I loved the prosecco aji-amarillo broth and they were clearly very fresh. Cast iron scallps were served with quinoa and squash but were a little bit over cooked. The lobster carbonara was very rich, almost too rich for me. They had nice wines by the glass at fair prices. I think next time I’d try different entrees as those were the lower point for me.

The ambience is pretty cool. However, my veal shank was dry. The lobster bisque was delicious as was the oyster. The almond pudding was great! The main course was the only downer. Others in my party had the risotto, which they say was delicious!

Drinks looked and tasted great! Whippersnapper was refreshing. Arctic char was just beautifully done. It basically was two dishes in one, based on which side you eat it with. The baby onions and peas(OR) beans, onions and artichoke. The sides were seasoned perfectly. The lemon crème brulé was delicious, especially with the shot of espresso. Service was a little lacking… it was just OK… not bad. To give them the benefit of doubt, the place was super busy… that might explain the lacking service. My wife says the salads are delicious but nevertheless… I should mention that is all they have for vegetarians.

This place is a hidden gem that puts the older standards in Aspen to shame. The service is amazing… The staff all are so happy to be here(although it is early in the season… :-) The food was fantastic, and the drinks are delicious! They make a mean old fashioned!

This place was nothing short of excellent. I mean every single piece of the experience was well above par. The atmosphere was great — loved the music they played and the place itself was nice and cozy on a cold, cold night. Our seating arrangement in the back caddycorner of the restaurant was OK. I mean we were away from the commotion, nothing particularly special. Our waitress was outstanding — very attentive, not too pushy, but offering suggestions when prompted. It was nice that it was open late, since I’m a bit European when it comes to my dinners! But the food. Ah, the food. Every single thing was made to perfection. Their oysters were the least best thing and they were still great. I had the Lobster Cabonara and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Perfectly portioned and savory flavor in every bite. My girlfriend got the scallops and she was extremely impressed by the popcorn brittle that came along with it! I had that stuff. It’s like hard drugs. It’s THAT good. I mean, this place is pricy for sure. But if you’re trying to treat yourself, it’s very possible to do it and not blow hundreds of bucks. Now, this doesn’t mean it’s cheap, but the small plates are definitely more affordable and just as delicious(The tuna tar tar is stellar. Tuna flavor really comes through). But trust me, every penny on this place is worth it.

Just had the most amazing chowder that I think I have ever had. The lobster Little Neck chowder not to be missed. If you come here and do not order if you are making a big mistake! I’m sure the rest of the menu is very good but I would definitely start with this chowder and you will not be disappointed. Also had the clam po boy sandwich. It was very good too however the sauce that they put on it was little bit too spicy for me. Their bar menu it’s definitely worth considering. And the bartender is absolutely excellent.

Dining at Grey Lady absolutely did not disappoint. I’m starting to just come to expect plain ol’ amazing food here in Aspen, as I’m thinking it’s just part of the culture. But anyways, Grey Lady is awesome. For starters, the fried oysters and the crab cake were just packed with flavor, tasted incredibly fresh, and perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend both of those to start. For entrée’s the lobster carbonara was simply delightful and would definitely go back just for that. Is there anything better than a lovely egg sitting on top of your carbonara to mix in with the heat of the plate? Loved it. The steak and eggs was pretty good but the meat was slightly on the tough side — good but not amazing. For dessert, we had the lemon crème brûlée and chocolate cake. While both were good, the chocolate cake was the best. The service was good but a little on the slow side. Sometimes we were missing water. But they had an awesome wine sale(we had Decoy Merlot) and the prix fixe menu was great as it’s the slow season.

Wow. So much flavor here. Here are a few items that I have enjoyed. First and foremost, the Mussels are the best. They are legendary. A spicy prosecco sauce that has you begging for more bread. Lobster roll is a beast as well. This may be the most popular item, overflowing with loads of fresh lobster on a killer roll that has a texas toast feel to it. Shrimp cake, crab cake, scallops all delicious. The brick on a chicken has a sauce that I want to bottle up and sell. The steak was a huge surprise, eating at a seafood place had me hesitant. Possibly the best steak I have had in the last year. Seasoned to perfection with a chard outer layer but medium rare in the middle. Charmoula sauce puts over the top. Cocktails are innovative and the wine list has style. Staff is very approachable and friendly. I may need an intervention from this place.

For a busy Saturday during Aspen Food & Wine, they kept this chic patio accommodated, and with a small staff to boot! What better way to wash down some deliciously fresh West and East coast oysters than with a chilled glass as rosè? The correct answer is none. There is no better way. Sure, it’s Aspen, so prices may be a tad steep, but their Happy Hour offerings were reasonable and makes for some great people watching! I can’t speak for the whole menu as we just enjoyed the hectic staff and bustling patio for a quick afternoon drink and oysters; however I think that experience speaks for a hopeful, successful return visit.

I absolutely loved Grey Lady, the main reason why, was our server. I can’t remeber her name but we were there for the food and wine classic and she was the sweetest person. DOYOUREMEMBERME??? I LOVEDTHEHOTSAUCE! I really respect a restaurant that uses sustainable ingredients. They had lion fish taco’s on the menu and the waitress suggested this as my choice instead of Mahi Mahi. I am from Florida, I know what the creatures are doing to the ocean, so I jumped at the chance to have Lion Fish outside of Florida. The taco’s were amazing and the waitress even asked me what I thought of the hotsauce and I told her I liked it but it was a little watery. So she brought me out another one as we were leaving! Just so I could try.(Like I said, she was amazing!). I’ll be back for the Classic next year and will surely visit :)

My new favorite in Aspen — a light refreshing alternative. After an underwhelming night at Matsuhisa we were a little reluctant to try another acclaimed restaurant but Grey Lady restored my faith in if not humanity, at least dining in Aspen. They have a solid cocktail menu including a Moscow mule made from their house made ginger beer(TRYIT)! Chowder is refined with hint of pork tender potatoes, light broth. Salads are light with respectable size. We got a tuna tartare which paled in relation to the other items(made from an aged Balsamic which I thought was too syrupy and heavy with the tuna) Wine list is good. The space is a little tight but tastefully decorated and I highly recommend you add this to your list while in Aspen.

Grey Lady was a nice experience. This was my first time here and I liked the bartender and what she had to offer. It seems a few locals were hanging out and drinking here. We stopped by for dinner and we really liked what we had. Chicken and steak. I loved the feel of the place and the airplane hanger feel it had. I strongly suggest coming here if given the opportunity. I didn’t try the dessert.

Everything was excellent. The place is quaint and charming! My friends ordered(and I tasted) the lobster roll– it was delicious but was a little chewy to me. However, I had the Lobster Carbonara and it was simply delicious! The chef instructed me to mix the egg yolk in throughout the dish to thicken the sauce and it was perfect! I would eat here again! Great service, excellent drinks, delicious food in a warm and cozy dining room.

I’m a sucker for ambiance and this place scores high on setting the mood. The staff is wonderful, checking in on you periodically and helping you navigate the menu based on your palate and preferences. Ian, who not only calls you«love» when you call to make a reservation, also makes you feel right at home from beginning to end. The menu boasts some wonderful seafood delights and a few non-seafood items for those with a hankering for something more meaty. I highly recommend the octopus, which was my favorite dish of the night(and could have easily been my meal on its own). The texture of the octopus was perfect and the flavors of the caramelization of the fish, white bean purée, and key lime sour cream were a bonafide plate ménage a trois. The crunchiness of the tostada-like base just added to the overall pleasure of this dish. The Dinosaur Caesar was also quite unique with the addition of cashews, pickled cranberries and a spicy anchovy dressing. The scallops were delightful but I found myself concentrating on the other pieces of that entrée rather than the scallops. My dining partner’s chicken was so buttery and tender. A chicken that makes you forget you’re eating chicken, is a chicken masterfully cooked! A cocktail program, well-curated wine list, and some local beers round out the experience.
