The Breadboard falls into the category of our neighborhood restaurant and boy did we pick the best neighborhood for a go to spot for breakfast and lunch. The food is consistently good, the specials change daily and the kitchen is happy to make changes for you. The Breadboard is one of a few restaurants I’ve been to that knows how to properly poach an egg, that makes the Eggs Benedict even better. I’ve had the conventional benedict and the veggie version both were terrific. Great pancakes, each the size of a dinner plate, fantastic oatmeal and don’t miss the turkey burger for lunch. Sit in Kerri’s section and experience the best service you’ll ever have. Kerri is consistently voted one of the best servers in town and on her days off Jim gives her a run for her money. The counter staff is efficient and like everyone else is a pleasure to deal with. When the weather is good the patio is a treat and man’s best friend is welcome.

It’s a little tight inside, but do NOT drive by without eating here. Their jam is THE best, as are their muffins. I’ve had most of their menu items and every single one is great.

The breadboard has never let me down. The food is always delicious and the service is stellar. I have never had to wait to be seated and when the patio opens back up in May, I’m sure my husband and I will be frequenting for weekend breakfast more often. I love the omelettes and the sandwiches and the view is beautiful. If you have a party you might want to call ahead or get there a bit early as it can get crowded, but for just two it’s always easy to be seated. Try their house jam– it’s absolutely incredible.

The staff was very friendly. Service was quick. I had the country fried steak and my husband had the mountain man breakfast and we were very happy with our choices. Delicious!

If you like greasy diner food and the smell of an overflowing grease trap — this is the place for you. If you like the bread from your country fried steak to be soggy and the sour dough pancakes to taste like vinegar give this slimy place a try. I will NEVER eat here again.

Our family’s favorite place to have breakfast in Ashland. Good food, good portions, friendly and prompt service, and reasonable prices. My only critique, and it is a matter of taste, I am not a big fan of homers and prefer my potatoes as hash browns. Still, great omelets, and I like the hearty Marionberry muffin as well.

I have been here a few times. It feels homey and cozy inside. Service is excellent and the prices are good as well. I found the food to be average and the coffee was on the weak side for me. The parking lot is small and tight.

We came to this establishment excited for a late breakfast and ready to hit the road. There are many choices on the menu that look delicious but one sandwich that called to the taste buds of my husband and I but needed to be slightly altered. We asked the nice young cashier if we would be able to use a different type of bread for the bagel breakfast sandwich, just a thought. He was unsure and turned behind him to ask the cook if this was possible. The cook looked up, grumbled, and commented they cannot do that. Cannot use a different type of bread. Sometimes you can feel when your appearance is being judged and this felt like one of those instances. Unhappy but respectful of the decision, my husband asked if he could add mayo. The nice young cashier once again turned and asked the cook if this was possible. Mayo. On a sandwich. C’mon. They abliged his request and we waited. The coffee was absolutely fantastic! Over $ 20 later we walk out with our coffees and our sandwiches minus the FRUIT we were promised by the menu. I was very sad but did not wish to ask the cook if we could add fruit to our dish in fear of rejection. The sandwich was a bagel pulled out of a store bought bag touched by the cashier after he made our coffee and handled money from two more patrons. The sandwich was as awful as it looked and contained no flavor. It was nothing special and definitely not worth the judgemental cook side eyed glare from the back of the kitchen.

We’ve stopped here a couple times passing through Ashland, for both breakfast and lunch and it’s always a solid choice. The staff is super friendly! Hanna is the best! I ordered a tea and was provided with a nice selection of teas to choose from. The coffee was very average, but my husband is a coffee snob! We wanted to start with a marionberry muffin, but they were sold out. Instead, we got a blueberry muffin with marionberry jam. The muffin is made with oatmeal and was so big, we only had a few bites and decided to take it on the road with us. We tried the pancake platters, one buttermilk and one sour dough. We decided we like the buttermilk the best! These meals also come with 2 eggs, 2 thick slices of bacon and two sausage links, syrup and marionberry jam along with two gigantic pancakes! We probably should have split a breakfast as we couldn’t eat it all. We bought some marionberry jam to take home with us! Yum!

Food tastes as expected — no oily/greasy issues, not salty or too sweet. Variety and originality depends on the dish — for example, traditional pancakes would get a C grade, blueberry a B, and the cinnamon/nut waffle would be an A+. Ambiance is eclectic — similar to other Ashland businesses. The building is partitioned, so the noise level is contained based on who is around you. Service is polite and attentive, and they listen — then repeat for understanding. We enjoyed our visit, but the prices are higher than most sit down breakfast eateries.

I will say the owner and staff make this one of the best breakfast eateries in the valley. So friendly, so authentic and proud of what they serve, food is fresh, service is lightening fast. I can’t say enough good things… Wish I could wake up to this every day – it’s a great way to start your morning!

The Breadboard restaurant is incredibly charming and has that ‘homey’ feel – from the décor to the wait staff. It was my first experience trying the Breadboard Restaurant and so far so good! I tried the Veggie Eggs Benedict, which was enjoyable but didn’t quite hit the ‘wow’ factor as Eugene, OR’s Studio One Café’s Veggie Eggs Benedict did. The homemade spuds didn’t live up to expectations – they were slightly floppy and were missing that slight crispy outside. The coffee was delicious! I would definitely return, especially since I live nearby!

This popular restaurant has many reviews and I wasn’t going to add another but what the heck. On my most recent visit I ordered pancakes(buttermilk) instead of my usual egg dish. The short stack was two plate-filling, light but chewy cakes. I passed on the flavored sugar syrup and applied a too-small paper cup of excellent blackberry jam. I ate more than expected, not having taken any rigorous exercise before or after, but still could eat it all. For a change the coffee was not very strong but was a little weak and the staff often came by with refills. As with nearly all restaurants, this place uses huge quantities of sugar in many of its breakfast offerings, but with judicious selections, you can avoid overdosing on the sweets.

Yuck. Cream of broccoli soup is palatable, if thin, but the entire experience is made off-putting by the dudebro working the cash register and serving food to go. He has somehow failed to make the connection that food safety requires a barrier between the handling of cash(which is extremely dirty, passing through the hands of countless people and their countless germs) and the handling of food(which should be presented with as minimal an amount of dirt & germs as possible). He repeatedly handled cash with his bare hands and then picked up empty cups for soup, holding them with one or more fingers on the inside of the cup. Not only is his food safety standard below the minimum for competency(pretty pathetic, the minimum is not that hard to meet), but he was too busy chatting with a co-worker about his feelings re: cauliflower to note either my(probably thinly-veiled) discomfort or my request for a new cup. Additionally, other aspects of my party’s order was incorrect(requested toppings for sandwiches were missing, excessive amounts of condiments were present, the dill pickles put alongside the sandwiches were dripping so the sandwiches became soggy). The Breadboard would really benefit from a refresher course for at least some of their employees in how not to suck at food handling, especially given that it’s a pretty basic, boring sandwich, soup, & breakfast place & is definitely not stand-out enough to come back from even one bad food-related-illness incident.

The Breadboard is in possession of one of the best breakfast deals in town: A muffin and a coffee for around 5 – 6 bucks. One of these muffins is absolutely enormous and a meal all on it’s own. They are made with whole grain and are extremely filling. I don’t even understand how they cook these things! Their muffin pan must have three to four inch side walls because that is literally how big the muffin top is, and it isn’t round, these inches are a full square. The rest of the food is also pretty good. It is around the same quality as Morning Glory, however the presentation is not quite there. The customer base is just slightly different with slightly different priorities, and I’m sure that plays a role. However the plus side to this customer base difference is the pleasant lack of screaming babies and entitled huppy parents at Breadboard(and conversely my only dislike of Morning Glory). The only reason Breadboard loses a star from me is because the service is hit or miss. The guy who is often at the front tends to irk me with his overly dogmatic and pedantic personality type. Sometimes we have to ask him three times for what we want, because it isn’t exactly the way he normally does things. No actually it is every single time we place a to go order. One time I also overheard him(wasn’t hard, he was practically yelling) attempting to critique the peer-review process for journal articles in a hilariously amateur and pseudo intellectual fashion and that pretty much made cry on the inside.

Breadboard is great place for breakfast. The views alone are worth the price of admission:) Service is fast and friendly as well. I wish they were open for dinner :) Recommend the Mountain Man… Preferably after you’ve finished an Ironman :)

Traveling through town and this was the place recommended for a quality breakfast. It did not disappoint. Very friendly staff and a creative menu with standards and customer-created specials. The lemon poppy seed pancakes was a treat If I lived in Ashland, I’d be back!

Such a great place to get morning breakfast. The food was great, good serving sizes. They are quite ‘generous’ with the butter, but no one is complaining. They also have a delicious jam that comes with the bread. It was so good we ordered an extra side of bread. But what really makes this place amazing is the view you get while sitting out on the patio. On a nice clear morning this was great place to start the day.

Patrick, thanks so much for serving us both one of the very best, most satisfying, perfectly cooked brunch breakfasts in a long time!!! I was very impressed that every single element on my plate was perfectly cooked. Some cook in that kitchen is a perfectionist! Great food, extremely nice people,& very close to our hotel too! Wait did not exceed 5 minutes, lucky for us. A completely memorable meal!!! Portions are so generous. No complaints here! Highly recommend them
