As a connoisseur of Mexican food I give it a thumbs up. Its pretty good Mexican food. The Horchata is huge!(TRYIT) very fragrant and not overly sweet. I got some simple carne asada tacos and a side of rice and beans; tasted great no complaints at all about the food. Great service, quick about getting everyone’s food out promptly.

Fast and friendly service, a great quick in and out restaurant. The food was amazing from the tortilla chips & salsa to the queso dip, to the main courses: I got the beef flautas, which were awesome and had a great tasting crust on the ends, and I also got to try the chicken which wasn’t my kind of thing but was good for a shredded chicken. Cheapest margarita was delicious and huge. Prices very fair overall. This is my favorite mexican restaurant in the Richmond area(that I have found so far).

Discovered this place after recently moving to Ashland. What a gem! Great food, great service, fast service and reasonable prices. The restaurant is very clean and ambiance is wonderful. Can’t find anything that can be improved about this restaurant because even when they are busy, everything is still consistent. You can tell that the crowd that often packs the place are satisfied happy customers.

It may not LITERALLY be the best Mexican food you’ve ever had, but when you see how fast it comes out, how good the service is, and how small your check is, it’s easy to shed a little love-tear.

Found a new place to eat when passing through Richmond. This place is right off 95 about 10 miles north of Richmond. The service is great. Quickly greated, seated and had drinks in front of us. Then came chips, salsa and a ranch. I couldn’t decide what to get so I quickly honed in on the dinner combinations. The list was long enough to basically cover every combo anyone could want. I went with the taco, enchilada and chili rollenos. All three were very good. The entire experience couldn’t have been any better. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m passing through.

We came here after kings dominion. The food was great, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff was so kind! We will probably come back the next time we’re at kings dominion!

This is the best Mexican food anywhere; the best seasoning on the meat, the best seasoning and consistency of the salsa, The service is fast and it is always crowded because all the locals know this is the best place for Mexican food. We have been to two otherpopular Mexican restaurants neaby recently because of their easy access to our other errands, and they couldn’t compare. El Azteca is the best.

My buddy who is Mexican suggested this place and he was right. You get a whole lot of food for the money and the quality is very good. We liked it much more then Casa Grande. I was barely able to finish my food. No complaints at all.

Tried this place out last night. We were seated in a side room with a very large group. They were obnoxious and continuously using profanity in the crowded room with children. It made it impossible to talk to each other at the table. The manager did come over to them once but continued to serve them drinks. I know that is not the restaurants issue, but it lead to the negative experience. The food was very fast which was great with a two and six year old. I ordered the carne steak asada tacos based on a picture in the menu. Needless to say it looked nothing like the pic. And the taco came just with the shell and meat. Would have liked a lime or cilantro on he side to compliment the street tacos. The beans were bland too. My margarita tasted decent, however the neon green color kind of scared me. Not a place I will be back to.

This was a great place to have a quick and delicious meal. We happened upon this place purely by chance as we had pulled off the highway to stop at the Starbucks next door. It looked crowded, but as we were only two, it didn’t take more than 3 minutes to get a table. We each ordered the Chicken Fahitas. They came out quickly, were a good portion, and very tasty. They handled our special request for no onions with no problem. The sides included a large plate with lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, tomato, and what my DH claimed was the best frijoles he’d ever had, even better than his own. We enjoyed our meal, and were able to get back on our way pretty promptly. The cost was reasonable and seemed like very good value for the money. When I went to pay I asked if they took American Express. The guy said, «we take everything!» It made me smile. We’d definitely stop here again. And judging by the constant flow of customers, there is plenty of repeat business. We did notice that folks waiting for tables had drinks(margaritas) which definitely seemed like a good way to chill while waiting

Dined here w/my wife who ordered tacos & I ordered steak fajitas. The taco shells were hard and the tortillas for the fajitas arrived 10 minutes after the sizzling steak. I asked our waiter why the delay on the tortillas & he shrugged his shoulders & said he didn’t know. So we asked for the mgr who proceeded to explain that since the tortillas are made fresh, there is no way to serve them together with the fajitas. Seemed like a dumb answer since as a patron I don’t care what his excuse is, I just wanted my meal ingredients to be delivered together like other Mexican restaurants.

I was encouraged to try this place, on a drive back to DC from a business trip to Richmond, by several of the nice comments found here, but came away singularly unimpressed. The chips and salsa were fine, but the chicken mole was very disappointing — the so-called mole sauce was watery, not thick as it should be, and the many small chicken slices were literally swimming in it.

I am a mexican food lover. I was excited about trying this place. Food was average. I was very displeased with service. Went with friends on a Friday night. Showed up around 7:30. Staff was unsmiling and seemed uninterested in customer service. Upon ordering our drinks discovered their bar did not have mojitos, Malibu rum, or white Russians(which was listed on their menu). Waiter seemed to be rushing through the motions. Our soft drinks received one refill. The staff seemed to be standing around with a mostly empty restaurant but yet rushed us to finish. The waiter dropped the check off without us asking for it not bothering to ask of we wanted anything else. We left by 9pm. I will not be returning to this one again.

Good, cheap, and authentic Mexican food. I have had really bad Mexican food, and really good Mexican food. This place is really quite good. The chips and both salsas are really good. The stars of our meal was the chicken mole and a beef burrito cooked with onions and a delicious cheese sauce on top! The staff mostly spanish speaking is very nice and hard working. This is a very great place if you have been at king’s dominion all day.

It’s meh. I’d skip it if you don’t mind driving 10 minutes further to casa grande or plaza.

After spending 10 hours at Kings Dominion and having park quality food. The food and atmosphere at El Azteca was so welcoming and satisfying. We were a party of 8, were seated promptly! The dining room is clean, the servers are nice and accommodating. The food was good, the quality was good and fresh and the menu has something for everyone, even a good vegetarian options. The chips and salsa hit the spot. The kids all enjoyed their food! Don’t let the white beat up entrance doors deter you. Next time we are at Kings Dominion, we will return.

About 15 minutes south of Kings Dominion, if you’re craving Mexican after a day filled with rollercoasters and long lines, this place is the closest best bet. Authentic cuisine, decent atmosphere and pretty good margs. My servers were a wee bit shy of full personality, but were quick on refills and such. I ordered carnitas. They were a bit dry, somewhat devoid of spice. The flavorful rice and beans sort of stepped up to the plate. Not bad. A little more hospitality would have peaked the meter. In a pinch, it’ll definitely do.
