After experiencing full leg hair removal from Mandy, I am never going to another Esthetician. Her skill, care, and professionalism made the experience comfortable, relaxed and fun. I am typically terrified of anything having to do with waxing but Mandy’s work has permanently changed my view. She’s a magician! Go see Mandy :)

Beautiful old house, but will not come here again for any kind of nail related maintenance. The service was expensive for what happened. I came here for a manicure. I don’t feel like I have ridiculous standards. I just expect my manicure to last more than 2 days and my hands to look clean. Unfortunately the technician did a very poor job of both cleaning and painting. She painted over my cuticles which lifted the paint and didn’t even cover my entire nail bed.

I moved to Asheville in April and was refered by someone to go to The Secret Spa for a massage and I am so happy I did. Everyone was great as well as the prices. From the greeting as I walked in until I left I felt like I was at home. Heather gave a wonderful massage and since then I have been back for spray tanning and nails. The changes in front desk staff didn’t seem to slow things down as I have watched these changes unfurl. This is one Secret that only gets better each time I go. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I came to Asheville for a weekend getaway. It was a perfect weekend that was complimented by the most amazing facial at The Secret Spa & Salon. Angel was awesome! Next time we are in town I will definitely come back and not look for any other place! The spa was clean and the entire team was friendly and extremely accommodating! One if the best spa experiences I’ve ever had!

My husband and I booked a couples massage at The Secret Spa for our anniversary. COULD. NOT. BE. HAPPIER!!! We both work two jobs and rarely have time together, let alone time to relax. Mere(Though I’m sorry I don’t remember the gentleman’s name, but he was also excellent) was absolutely attentive, responsive to communication, calm and our experience was Ah-MAZING! Love this spa! I want to go back for massages every week!!!

I had my wedding hair and makeup here as did my 8 bridesmaids. Excellent outcome in hair and makeup. Amanda and Angel are incredible! However, I was extremely disappointed with the Front Desk/Customer Service. They have you sign a contract– not a big deal. But one of my bridesmaid is an Officer in the Navy and was not granted leave because of military action in Syria. I explained the situation(3 weeks in advance) and was told basically that«I signed a contract and no exceptions.» Okay, I understand I work in finance. I was then told we could use the money that would be credited towards my bridesmaid hair for my Mother’s makeup. Unfortunately, when check out time came, that was not the case. The lady told me I owed the full price of the hair in addition to the makeup for my Mother. She was not kind and spoke loudly about us as we were leaving. If I were to do it all over again, I would have on site hair and makeup as to avoid the terrible customer service.

I’ve been to The Secret Spa & Salon twice. My first experience was fine, although my appointment took a really long time(cut, color, style) and it was crazy expensive.($ 300+ after tip) My second experience was worse. My appointment was two weeks before my wedding, and I went in for a cut, color, all-over highlight, and style. The stylists do a great job with hair cuts, but my color was pretty much a disaster and, again, I was there for several hours. The entire appointment cost me more than $ 400(before tip) and I had to make an additional appointment elsewhere to fix the color-gone-wrong. My color(a warm, chocolate brown) started to turn purple during the days following the appointment and I found spots and holes in my hair from the poorly attended highlighting treatment. My experiences were really a shame because the location is really great, the salon itself is adorable and the staff are pretty friendly. But overall, they charge way too much and my experiences weren’t at all worth what I paid. **Side note: Both of my appointments were with Gretchen, who I believe is no longer with The Secret Spa.

Lovely experience! As a New Yorker, I’m used to spare, clinical spa spaces, but Secret Spa reminded me of somebody’s cool Southern aunt’s house, totally decked out for cosy comfort. I came for a facial, which here was quite different from what I’m used to in a few key ways. My technician(Destiny?) was sweet, not too chatty, and asked me relevant questions about my skin care regimen and lifestyle. I swim a lot, and it wears on my face. I also fly a lot, and Destiny(sorry if that’s not your name, luv, I’m the pits at names) counseled me on hydration and protection. The facial itself was a bit more, um, forceful that I’m used to, she used a nubby towel to exfoliate. I had to get used to it, cuz at first it was a little irritating. All the products smelled lovely, and they tailored the products for my skin type and needs. Another difference is that I’m used to having my hands creamed and stuck in those heated mitts, which she told me was not included in the basic facial, but she did it anyway. I’m also used to being swathed in hot towels and eye pads and left alone for a time in the middle of the service — I love this part because its luxurious and I like that I always fall asleep. This didn’t happen during my session. Its something I personally enjoy, but he room was so peaceful I didn’t mind. I paid for an extraction, which she did with a tool rather than her fingers. There was zero pain, which was nice, but afterwards I didn’t think my pores were cleaned as well as I’m used to. My boyfriend got a massage — massages are important for him because he has neurological issues with his legs. He found it to be gentle and therapeutic and he thought she was properly conscious of his particular needs. Prices were reasonable. Definitely recommended for a pleasant, down-to-earth spa experience.

I am from out of town, and needed to get my hair done for a wedding. Amanda did a WONDERFUL job. I got a ton of compliments. She did some sort of complicated barrel roll to curl my hair and it lasted forever. I would definitely come here again, if I come back to Asheville!

Two words: Amanda Maciog! Funkiest, friendliest, most entertaining and talented stylist ever. I was wary of letting anyone else touch my hair after I left Asheville. The Secret Spa itself is a cozy little salon and store; the staff even lent me a shovel when my car got stuck in the snow in the parking lot and was fine with me being late to my appointment subsequently. Prices have always been high, and got even pinchier the last time I visited. :P But anywhere that employs Amanda is worth it.

This was wonderful and relaxing. I had a facial with an add of a peel. The lady who worked on me was professional and knowledgeable. The rooms were cozy and peaceful. It was an overall lovely experience.

Gotta be honest. .. I like this place, but I wouldn’t recommend getting your nails done here. The mani/pedi together took under an hour(and I’m used to pedicures ALONE taking 45 minutes or so) and there was almost zero pampering involved. Just soak, one exfoliating scrub, dead skin removal, then paint. And the girl who did my toenails put on base coat, FOUR layers of color, and then top coat. When I put my shoes on over an hour later, the nails still got all jacked up because that volume of polish will never dry. The manicure involved ZERO pampering. No lotion, no nothing. I don’t know about you guys, but most of the time, I get manicures and pedicures so I can get rubbed on a bit — the visual result is just a bonus. But my eyebrow wax was great — not painful at all, and great results. Also, there’s an electric blanket on the waxing table, so it’s a toasty warm place to lay whilst having your hair ripped out at the roots. And my sister got her wedding hair done here, and it looked fantastic! Amanda(same one who did my eyebrow wax) really listened to my sister’s wishes and did exactly what she wanted. She also has a great personality and is fun to chat with, without being obnoxiously bubbly or anything.
