Wow this place has done a complete 180 from the last time we were here! The staff was wonderful, Keith, our waiter, took wonderful care of us. Our bartender(can’t remember his name, but was just as awesome to us on our last visit) Our food was awesome, we had the Ahi Tuna app, Bison sirloin & Ribeye Oscar(on special that day, not on regular menu) for dinner. Food melted in our mouths. Plus, the app bread with chimichurri? To die for!

My husband and I ate our first meal at The Chop House because we wanted to see the live band playing there. We weren’t expecting to actually enjoy the food. But, whoa, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the food was excellent! We’ve been back on numerous occasions and never been disappointed!

We are staying at the Four Points hotel where this restaurant is located. After a long day of traveling we checked in and were famished. We decided to just eat at the Chop House because it was empty and obviously close. Upon looking at the menu, we thought it was more expensive than we planned but a good steak sounded appetizing so we decided to kick off vacation right! We both ordered a sirloin, I got a Caesar salad and my husband got the smashed potatoes. The steaks were over seasoned and the lettuce in my salad was browning. The smashed potatoes and the pretzel bread that came before dinner were good though. Our server was very friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for anything. Of course, we were the only table in the restaurant. Overall, high prices for mediocre food. Not recommended.

Friends chose the Chop House for 11 of to gather and eat. Upon arrival at 6:30 on a Tuesday night there were approximately 2 – 3 tables with maybe 8 – 12 people. Having made reservations we were immediately seated. There were two servers who quickly distributed menu’s to everyone and took drink orders. It took a while but not long enough to be noticeable before they took order for our appetizers and entrees. The drinks came promptly and bread followed. The appetizers, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and tuna. The tomatoes were awesome, they were hot and cooked to perfection. The tuna came with fruit salsa on a chip. The combination of taste was fantastic. I choose to only include a small portion of the chip in each bite. I did not see the need for such large chips. I did not taste the shrimp but my son seemed to enjoy it. I had the 9 ounce filet cooked medium rare with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was coked perfectly and was tasty and very tender but seemed a tad bit smaller than it should have. It looked line on the plate all by itself. The potatoes were were well flavored and stayed soft until I was done. My wife had the lettuce wedge which she said was very good. She also enjoyed her buffalo steak. It was cooked exactly as ordered and had great flavor. Out of our group of eleven, everyone ended up pleased with the food. The drinks were just so so and seemed to be over priced. Our bill without alcohol averaged $ 45.00 per person. I would go back I just would not have any mixed drinks.

This place had a lot of potential Nice hotel and bar. Having said that. The service was really aweful. We waited for almost 30 minutes just to get drinks. Only four tables with people so the place was dead. Food was cold an aweful. Took forever to get that too This place needs to go out of business. So many good places to eat here. so sad

One of the worst meals ever. How does this place stay open? Not sure how they got the food so bland. Maybe it was frozen too long. We were a four top. Had the filet, ribeye, bison ribeye, and some chicken dish. Nothing had taste. We could not believe all four meals were so flavorless. Sent the steaks back for«added flavors» or whatever they called their toppings. The bison was probably just a dry, thin beef ribeye. Hard to tell since it truly had no taste. Felt bad for the waiter. He seemed a bit embarrassed. Staff was good.

Start with listing non-existing specials, bring undercooked greasy calamari(@14 $!!). I still haven’t finished and I am skepticism about what is to come. We are the only people eating at 7pm on a Friday night and no one is coming. There was talk of some buffet, maybe that took all the time away from our food’s cooking. Pictures included. Service-great! Poor lady apologized profusely I kind of felt sorry for her.

Not what you think as a Chop House. The server was rude complained about her day, did not know or want to say what dressing for salad. Forgot at one item for 3 of the 4 dishes. The calamari was cold server did not care. Would go to a bar first. Good luck.

Maybe if the staff was better I would rate it higher. My ribeye was tasty, but not medium rare like I ordered. I truly believe that the waiter was also the chef. He disappeared for long periods of time and dinner took forever, considering there were on 7 other people eating in Chops, service should have been much better.

Excellent food, ambience and options. A kids menu with huge portions and adult meals that satisfy all pallets. Good stuff.

Great steak. Wood fired over hickory and very flavorful. The roasted garlic smashed potatoes were fantastic. Passion mango cheesecake for dessert to round out our meal. It was sweet, tangy and delicious. Our server was very professional, attentive and efficient and very knowledgeable about the local draft beers. The manager was also very visible and checked on all the tables.

On our last night in Asheville for our babymoon and decided to splurge on a nice steak dinner. After waiting 30 minutes for our French onion soup starters, we got our soup and it was average. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with blue cheese and he got a lamb, we shared the spinach and bacon and onion side which I didn’t even want to try it looked so unappealing. Both our entrees were average, not as good as we anticipated for the price.

Chophouse is definitely underrated on here. We almost didn’t eat here but then decided to and it was the best decision we made of the night! The greatest treasure in this place is the bartender named Jimm(with two m’s). Not only did he make me some of the best drinks I’ve ever had, he has also been featured in numerous magazines and received awards for his own concoctions. I would say that he is an expert mixologist but by narrowing it only to mixologist, I would be selling him short. This guy had more knowledge than you can shake a stick at from liquor, beer wine, cheese, Asheville, Biltmore history, etc. you name it! Now onto the food — My husband had the bison ribeye and I had the regular ribeye. While both were very tasty I do have to say it is worth the extra $ 10 to order the bison. And of course, Jim was able to tell us all about the bison herd… where they are raised, what they eat, and about the private tour he is going on with the owner. Yes this guy almost doesn’t seem real does he? But he is! Also, we definitely recommend a French onion soup. Disregard that review that says it doesn’t have cheese– this thing was loaded with cheese broiled on top of it. It was very good. One last note, the ambience was very nice and candlelit. Go eat here!

One of the best steaks that I’ve ever had, and the sides were excellent. The atmosphere is a little down, but the food and service are excellent. The steaks and vegetables are cooked over a wood fire, and the flavors are amazing. I had low expectations, since this is a hotel restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would eat here again, even if I wasn’t staying at the hotel. It’s expensive, but not more so than the rest of the choices in the downtown area. If you want a nice steak dinner, give The Chop House a try.

Service started out great. Food and wine was tasting good. Then service started to disappear. Some of our entrees came out over done. A couple deserts were missing. Then the bill(which they told us ahead of time was easy to individually split) took an HOUR! even then it was divided wrong. Then multiple people were charged for the whole bill. A week later, we are still having to deal with this horrible restaurant.

We had a ribeye and lamb t-bone. Above average, nice interior, good service. Asheville is full of hippe food places, this is an actual steak place.

Nothing against the local reviewers. I have to mention the following: 1) Staff was friendly and very helpful. 2) I know the economy is slow in Asheville and the restaurant was mostly empty, but I will tell you the food was excellent. a) First, I enjoyed a local beer compliments of the Hotel. b) Second, We order a Penfolds Syrah, $ 36.00, in NY I pay double in a steak house if not triple. c) Third, the starters(seared tuna and carpaccio) were excellent. the carpaccio was different then i am use to but we are in the south and BBQ is your middle name. d) Where can one order a 6oz Filet Mignon for $ 22? The steak was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I can go on with more but in short I enjoyed The Chop House

Pricey. Slow to seat.(I waited 7 minutes and was one of only 5 people in the whole restaurant). I ordered the chicken with garlic and pineapple salsa, and a large baked potato. Wow. Talk about huge portions! It was easily enough for two people! The bill came to only $ 22 before tip and I had only water. They do make their coffee specifically for a person who orders it though, which is a bonus. In fact, I wish I’d have had some – it smelled delicious! If it weren’t so expensive for one person I’d probably eat there again on a business trip. They do use quite a bit of salt, but I like salt. Their food via room service isn’t up to par. I ordered chicken nuggets, which were good in and of itself, but they forgot the honey mustard. The fresh fruit tasted like the refrigerator. The apple pie was not warmed as I had asked it to be. They did deliver it fast. Since I don’t stay at hotels much, I am assuming most hotel food might be like this since I don’t know what to compare it to.
