Decided to try this based on reviews and the fact that I was really craving Spanakopita so husband and I gave it a go. It’s located in a newer shopping complex. The interior is what you’d expect from an Italian eatery. Dimly lit which was nice and the selection of music was decent. Our server was new but really sweet. She couldn’t really tell us anything in terms of menu but it was her second week so we understood. Appetizer was of course the spanakopita… what a let down! The temp was barely warm. The phyllo was soggy and the flavor just wasn’t there. I literally think they were store bought. Husband had pollo Alfredo and I had the chicken nomista which were decent. At $ 50, Carrabbas would have been a better choice. You win some and you lose some.

People, atmosphere, wine list, menu… all excellent! All of my WNC friends should have this on their«Eat Here» list.

The food was ok. The service sucked and it was ridiculously over priced. Olive Garden was a better experience with better prices.

We made our reservations about 250 miles away and read up on the menu items on the way. Nothing disappointed our anticipation. Our party of three had Caesar salad and an onion garlic cream soup. Both were excellent. The warm bread and olive oil herbs were lovely. The salad was FRESH, and the soup was very flavorful. We ordered three different entrees. The four cheese lasagna was tasty and comforting to the weary traveler. The pollo Alfredo was the least of our favorites, but still good. The mushroom truffle ravioli was the star of the show. That dish is worth return visits. We were also surprised and impressed with the reservation verification via text. Excellent, friendly service. Well managed establishment.

This is the second birthday in as many months we have celebrated at Pomodoros South. All of the dishes we have ordered have been tasty and beautifully presented. Warm bread right out of the oven is served — got to love that! I recommend the pork chop with the wonderful coffee rub. And please save room for the backlava crème brûlée. One of the best desserts in Asheville.

We stopped for lunch on a Monday. Ordered the salad and pizza for two. Instead of a two-topping pizza, we opted for the Greek pizza(a $ 4 up-charge but it was worth it). Good service. Good food. Comfortable dining room with lots of booths. Nice, clean bathrooms.

A group I lead travels to Arden twice a year, and has visited the south location each time for the past four years. Our most recent trip was February 20, 2016, and the experience left me wanting never to go back. Our party of 11 made reservations and arrived promptly(a few minutes before). We were seated and drink orders were taken. Once the various drinks arrived, it was as though the world forgot about us. I watched for nearly an hour as tables came in after we were seated, ordered, and were served. I brought this to the attention of our overworked waitress, who could only apologize and blame the kitchen, saying«It’s crazy back there.» It was as though our table had been pushed to the very back of the line. «We have a really large party on the other side of the restaurant,» she said. I wasn’t saying our table was more important than anyone else’s, but neither was I ready to accept that we were less so. Our food showed up over an hour later — all of it nearly at once: appetizers that were hastily put together, salads, and entrees. I had ordered several plates of bruschetta for the table, but what arrived was basically caprese on cold french bread(quite literally mozzarella and fresh tomato with basil and balsamic). Calamari was a pile of over-breaded, greasy rings. The mussles were ok, but the pasta dishes were only ordinary — mine was Athena, one of their standards, and it lacked seasoning and focus — a few bits of seafood over linguine in a watery white wine/butter sauce that left me wishing for something else. The evening took far longer than it should have, and all of us were so disgusted by the time our food arrived that it was difficult to enjoy the meal. The manager was brought over to speak to me, but she only repeated the apologies of the waitress, and blamed the kitchen. What I found so astonishing is that she seemed not to understand what had gone wrong, as though she hadn’t communicated with anyone in kitchen all night. If the manager doesn’t know what’s going on, who does? Her promises were an example as to just how cheap talk can be: She said she would speak to the chef. She said she would call the owners to see if some consideration could be made for us. I don’t know whether she did either of these things, because I never saw nor heard from her again. I did notice her have a pleasant chat with some folk at the bar when we left after paying our(full-price) bills. This was, for us, an evening of unfulfilled promises, beginning with the menu, continuing with the service, and ending with a manager who appeared not to have customer satisfaction as a priority. It is very unlikely that we shall ever visit this restaurant again.

Went here based on Unilocal recommendations. Glad we did. Brunch served till 4pm on Sunday. Unique eggs Benedict. Excellent hollandaise sauce. Attention to detail; lovely presentation. I am looking forward to going back for dinner the next time I am in town.

This is a wonderful restaurant! The staff were very friendly and courteous, the atmosphere was classy yet mellow and casual. We split the lasagna with bolognese and it was delicious, fresh and the portion was generous enough for two. The bread with herb and oil was fresh warm and delightful. Our meal with two teas was just under $ 25.

Thought I had to have wine-garlic sauce with steamed mussels but this restaurant proved me wrong. The lemon-feta-cream sauce was great. Something new

We have long loved(even the 30 mile drive) to go here for«Special Times». It is a lovely, low noise ambiance with great food choices. Food is well prepared and not«over spiced» as so many restaurants do. The Pasta Athena is a fantastic dish for a seafood lover. Wait staff is prompt and friendly. One of our favorite places!

Very nice staff. Friendly, manager checked in on us. Could be a classy place but they keep it casual. Nice simple ambiance. Food was good not gourmet foodie but delicious. Great wine list. Great find. Not super busy. Likely local joint. Older clientele. Not super hip but who cares. Sometimes you need a simple good meal. Didn’t do Greek, kept with Italian. Family owned. Tiramisu recipe family owned secret. Good! Want to give thumbs up to server Tom and another staff — female waitress who was busy but acknowledged our entrance. Used open table too. Dinner was expensive but … $ 150

Excellent! We were traveling through and happened upon This hidden treasure! Service was great, prices reasonable, even with a bottle of wine. The food was excellent, as well. My husband had Grouper over rissoto. The sauce was rich with flavor and delicious. I had Salata Gambero, also wonderful.

One of our favorites in Asheville. We had dinner there last night and was taken care of by our wonderful bartender Cora. She was awesome. She read our minds and we never waited on anything and the food was great as usual. We had friends stop by to have a drink with us after dinner so we went outside to the patio to enjoy the evening. Time got away from us and we sat there for one hour past closing and they just patiently waited without any pressure to leave. Their tip will be extra large next time to thank them for their patience with us. Highly recommended.

We gave this a try over the weekend. Wow! Everything we ordered was incredible, from the Ouzo to the baklava ice cream, the eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti bolognese, a wonderful ESB local brew. Incredible service, wonderful food, lovely atmosphere.

The service was great. Unfortunately there was not a lot to serve. We ordered the PEI mussels and they were out. We ordered the calamari and they were out of the sauce. I ordered a local beer from the menu and they were out. The calamari was over cooked and I didn’t understand the burned lemon slices included. The cheese lasagna«not bad» but the cheese topping was burned. The veal Marsala was okay but the sauce was too acidic and the side of asparagus arrived ten minutes after the entrée and was cold. I guess this could be the reason the place was not crowded and we didn’t need a reservation.

One of the best Italian places you’ll find in Western NC, no joke … AND it’s not in Asheville. Pomodoros opened a location in Skyland, an upscale suburb of Asheville and far away from, «malfunction junction.» Make sure you take a look at the specials because they usually offer new and unpublished creations. If the specials are too much for your blood, I also have some menu suggestions. I recommend the Arnaki Sta Karvouna, Solomos Mi Lemoni, or my personal favorite is the CapeSante Gorgonzola. Tonight, 3/27, I had the Mahi-Mahi special … Ambrosia! I believe the fish had an herbed Panko crust on it and was served on top of lemon and goat cheese Resoto and was flanked by Italian Parsley and Grape tomatoes. Pomodoros is not a white table cloth restaurant but who needs the, «foof,» when you put out superb food. The food is a bit pricey but ALWAYS great quality, hot and cooked perfectly. I noticed outside seating, and 3 indoor seating areas, two left and right separated by the bar area in the middle. The beer and wine selection is very nice and of good quality. The décor inside is very pleasant with an intimate and sophisticated feel … quite and well laid out. The service is prompt, wait staff is knowledgeable and great with suggestions without being pushy.
