This is such a great little dive on the corner, and I mean that with all due respect. We’ve been here many times in the past few years since we moved to NC. The food is always really, really good. I always order the lamb gyro, but others whom I’m with order other stuff, and I’ve never ever heard a complaint about the food. My son loves the mushroom Swiss burger, my hub likes any of the burgers, and I have to say I’ve only ordered gyros, but they are are amazing — fresh, fresh tomatoes, fresh tzatziki sauce, and the fries are so great. I hate seasoned fries, and these aren’t seasoned fries — they’re just crispy, amazing fries!

I love Nicks Grill because they have a varied selection, ranging from cheeseburgers, salads, subs to gyros. The outside seating area is legit, I would recommend this diner to anyone who wants a legit burger and a legit experience, come to Nicks Grill!, home of the NickBurger.

I’m still up in the air about this place. I will give it one more shot. I ordered 2 sandwiches to go, I was picking up lunch for my husband. I ordered him the jalapeño beer cheese burger which he said he enjoyed. And I got the Ruben. Since I got these things to I didn’t think much of it. But they packed my sandwich sideways in a box so when I got to my destination it was all mused up into a pile and did not look very good. Tasted alright but I really wish they would have laid it flat. We also got fries. Not the worst. Not the best. Just plain old fries. We will give it another shot when we can go and sit there to eat instead of getting it to go. Maybe that will make a difference

When driving by I used to think Nick’s Grill was like a Sonic where you can park and order from your car. The front looks it in passing, but it’s not. You do go inside to place your order. It reminds me of an old school diner inside, but the décor is nothing to rave about. They do, however, have a yummy-looking menu. It’s comprised mostly of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and gyros. We got there near closing time, unknowingly, so I quickly chose to try a rodeo burger topped with bbq sauce, onion rings, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. They toasted the sesame bun too, which was an awesome touch. The boy got a steak gyro. The gentleman counting money by the lady taking our order was very blunt, moody, and rude. He had obviously been there all day(too long) and was unamused by us coming in 30 minutes before closing. The lady that took our order was really nice though and we were not the last ones served that night. Our food was yummy, filling, and not greasy. Not too shabby little Greek/American«fast food» joint by the highway of I do say so myself. They have daily specials too, which I’ll have to check out next time around.

Nice outdoor patio space, fast service, affordable. They have good burgers, but unfortunately lack with vegetation menu items. For a burger joint, I would expect vegetarian burgers on the menu. I didn’t like that they had Christian music blasting either.

I first experienced Nick’s gyros at a downtown festival. The restaurant had been closed due to a fire. This could easily be a place featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The atmosphere is bleak but the food is cheap and way above average. The best gyros in town by a mile. Always busy and a must stop for lunch.

I love their food every time I go there but the service is kinda bad and the bathrooms are a bit unsanitary. Their food is great but they could use a little remodeling.

When I lived in Asheville, this place was my favorite. Nick’s Sandwiches and Subs. My uncle introduced me to this place. One fine afternoon we came here and I ordered a beef tip Gyro and we sat outdoors in the beautiful weather. What came next was bliss. I have never been one to love Gyro’s or greek food, but this was awesome. $ 5 bought me one of the best quick meals I’ve had in a while. Say you go to McDonalds and you spend $ 5 for a value meal. It’s loaded with grease, calories, carbs and a bloated feeling. $ 5 at Nicks will get you taste that fast food chain resturants will never give you. I’ve ordered: Burgers, Beef Tip Gyros, Lamb Gyros etc. All of which were spectacular. Definately worth the visit if you are in North Asheville off of Merrimon. I’m back in Boston now for a few years and let me tell you, I miss quality food like this. The closest I’ve gotten to good gyro’s were Doner Kebabs in Berlin, Germany.
