I walked into Mexico Lindo on a beautiful spring night around 9:15. Kind of late, I know, but I had been watching a good movie and decided to stick with it until heading out for something to eat — getting something to eat around 9 on a Wednesday night shouldn’t be such a big problem. I was in the mood for some good Mexican and Mexico Lindo seemed as if it was the answer to my cravings. However, upon walking in, I found the restaurant to be completely empty of workers — half-eaten meals and half-sipped drinks from past diners left on several crumb-filled tables immediately catching my eye. In the corner, where the servers left their orders for the cook, were a few servers talking to the cook himself — it seemed as if they were winding things down and beginning to close. Was I too late? I checked the hours outside quickly and saw that on weeknights they were open until ten, and on top of that I saw two tables occupied, one by a single man and the other by a party of about four or five, of which the waitress promptly came out and began serving drinks to, all the while ignoring me – they must be open still, but maybe they were just busy, I reasoned. Meanwhile, I continued to stand at the front waiting and watching patiently for one of the servers to notice me and seat me, yet not one in the group in the corner did. I stood there waiting with understanding for ten minutes, which I though was pretty generous — all while continuing to see the table with the large group continue to get served by a waitress three more times — the single man appeared to simply be enjoying his meal already. After those ten minutes I figured that perhaps if I sat down with a menu they might come over and take my order, seeing that I am obviously so hungry I am willing to seat myself. No – after five more minutes of being ignored I just decided to get up and leave. The Texas Roadhouse just down the road happily accepted my business, though it wasn’t what I was originally in the mood for, and I got great service there as well, which I tipped generously for. Mexico Lindo’s loss. While Mexico Lindo’s menu looks good, I would recommend against patronizing them solely on their lack of customer service.

I’ve been here twice, tasty pico de gallo, guacamole, and food. But I am pretty much married to one dish, the spinach mushroom quesadilla. Buttery spinach, mushrooms, tomato, cheese, and topped off with guacamole. Oh so tasty. I haven’t really had anything else here, but the service is good and the spinach mushroom quesadilla is good, really good.
