I reluctantly joined in a work-related group program at this gym back in April. I had heard about CrossFit type gyms and have a few friends who are militant CrossFit nutjobs and even though I knew I needed to do something to stop my lazy, fat butt from getting any fatter, I didn’t think I would enjoy a place like this. I’m not a novice to traditional gyms, and I really didn’t expect to like what I perceived to be a scatter-brained and inconsistent approach to working out. I was completely wrong. I have found the workout structures to be as enjoyable and rewarding as they are challenging and(sometimes) ridiculous. I enjoy the inclusion of movements and exercises I routinely avoided way back when I used to work out. I have found the trainers to be friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and not at all like the screaming freaks I expected to encounter when I joined. I have found the group mentality to be effective in helping to push through some more difficult workouts. Most importantly, I have seen results. I’ve dropped almost 20 pounds in four months. My fat pants don’t fit anymore, shirts that looked silly on me six months ago look more like they’re supposed to, and I can tell that my girl is no longer stretching the truth when she tells me I look good when we’re going out. I feel better than I have in years, especially when I don’t get exhausted doing things like changing the channel or wishing I had the energy to go to the fridge to get a beer. If you’re looking for a place to work out that is intense but fun, difficult but fair, and where the trainers won’t leave you wanting to kill people when the workout is over, this is the place for you. It works, indeed. Worth every penny and every drop of sweat.

I am so grateful that I learned about HEW and have been able to attend so many wonderful workouts here. The trainers could not be more encouraging or more nice… they really care about you. I love how every day is so different. You will never be bored or tired of the workouts!
