I have been telling my friends how much I like this place. I have eaten here dozens of times this past year. Probably almost once a week. For what you pay vs what you get this places always excels. #

Decent place with Asian fusion. Good sushi and Chinese food. The Thai wasn’t the best — specially the padthai.

Inexpensive, quality food, friendly staff and easy access, what more can I ask for? The crab Rangoon and green curry medium spice was spot on. I did take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. It’s dangerous that this place is a short 3 minute drive from my place. This is a happy girl for sure!

My wife and I just stopped in for dinner, and we were very happy we did. They have a very impressive menu(Thai, Chinese and Japanese) and the food was delicious! This is a Counter Service Resteraunt which we prefer. You can eat in, or have it take out. The food tasted fresh and it was delivered in a timely manner! The prices are very fair for the amount of food you recieve. A deffinate must try for anyone who enjoys oriental cuisine!

Best Chinese & Japanese take-out I’ve had in Asheville! They have a great dining experience too. What I love most about Ganko is the friendly staff, FAST service and extensive menu. Definitely try the veggie fried rice! Would recommend to a friend and will return.

Why is this place so good??? Service has been great each time I’ve visited. One time I just got a side of mixed veggies. It was delicious. Crazy cuz I don’t really like veggies much. Another time I got teriyaki chicken with veggies and it was super yummy.

For being hidden in a strip mall on the east side it would be easy to look past Ganko, but the place is actually really good for a good price. There is a large selection rolls to choose from and, as you would expect, the sushi is made right there. As a result of the large menu there are some really interesting rolls out there to try and I was both surprised at how good they were; the fish was nice and fresh. Great place to get sushi on the go, but not exactly the best full dining experience.

I work in the immediate area around Ganko, and boy do I feel fortunate for that. They moved across the plaza almost a year ago and it’s all been up from there. Besides the personal convenience, my favorite thing about this place is the lunch specials. You can’t ask for a more generous portion for $ 5.95+tax and tip. There are about 12 – 14 different Chinese or Japanese options on the lunch menu(my fave is a lunch date with General Tso). A lunch here easily can become dinner leftovers, if that’s your thing. If you’re looking for a quick lunch, I recommend take-out over dining in. The staff here are multipurpose with the same folks going through the kitchen, working the front register, making sushi, and waiting on tables. This means that you could get caught in a void and end up spending a little more time than you’d like waiting to settle up. I don’t normally call my orders in ahead of time(but it is accepted to do so), and even then I still barely wait more than 7 minutes to get my food. Everyone I’ve interacted with here has been very friendly and accommodating, even during rushes. Lunch is obviously the strong point here, so it’s easy to forget that they are open for dinner service as well. It’s no gourmet cuisine, but they’ve found their niche and work it to near perfection. The sushi here is quite respectable. You’d have to go out a little further down 70, or into downtown to get to the next nearest sushi place. Most of their special offerings run around $ 9 a roll for 8 or so pieces. The sushi menu is laid out with photos of the special rolls so you have a pretty good idea of what you’re going to get. I really dig the presentation factor of the special rolls. They are usually a good combination and balance of red, green, black, and white that give me a little pause before digging in. My personal favorite is the rainbow roll, but for an interesting experience I recommend the dragonberry roll. Obviously you won’t feel as stuffed as you would after a lunch special, but I haven’t ever left feeling like I was shorted. Overall, this place just meets all my requirements of an excellent lunch spot — good food, better prices, and friendly and speedy service.

Traveling through and wanted something close by the hotel. Found this place and what a find. They definitely put the express in their name. Everything came out quickly but still made with care even though we walked in 45 min before they closed. Staff were great and the place is small but well maintained. The Crab Rangoon are simply little pockets of goodness(if you don’t like sweet Rangoon you may want to skip it.) And a chef sushi plate for just under $ 9 was enough for me(a small specialty roll, two pieces of salmon sushi, tuna Maki roll, two pieces of salmon sashimi, and a small lettuce salad… yeah all for less than $ 9!) I walked out satisfied and not overly stuffed. I will definitely stop here again the next time I come through town.

This is my go to take out restaurant. Always fast, very reasonable prices, and 100% of the time my order is correct and exactly what I expected. The staff has always been friendly and do a great job. My favorites include veggie lo mein, shrimp tempura roll, orange chicken with steamed rice, and the berry roll. My boyfriend loves the yaki beef & Thai curry. We can’t resist their crab ragoons — literally the best I’ve ever had.

My fiancé and I came here on vacation and we were very pleasantly surprised. Very clean and tidy restaurant, and very friendly staff. Plus our food was out SUPER fast. I think our entreé’s came out before our appetizers! And the quality of the food is very good. Very fresh ingredients, no overcooked veggies, and no greasy or oily food. Their prices are fantastic as well. We ordered two entreés, two appetizers, and a couple sushi plates, and I think we spent $ 65 with tip. We ended up going a second night on our vacation and met with the same great service. The manager was there that night too and he is a very friendly fellow. I hope this place sticks around, because it’s really hard to find a restaurant that serves practically every kind of Asian food at such high quality. I felt great after both the meals I ate there – not overly full and not like I’d eaten a ton of grease, which is how I feel after eating at most places like that. In any case, if you’re looking for a great meal at a great price, go to Ganko!

I had ultra high hopes for Ganko. I was under the impression that there was some sort of awesome sushi place in a Wal-Mart shopping complex that was a real hidden gem. Having read a multitude of reviews here on Unilocal and in the Mountain Xpress, when I found myself close by the Wal-Mart a few days ago I decided to leap into action and try this spot out. It’s very clean and tidy. A place like this would be very comfortable in close by a Southern Californian business park. It’s a great lay out for a lunch spot, but not an intimate dinner. The menu here is HUGE! If you’re not feeling sushi, then treat yourself to some Japanese entrees… Not feeling Japanese? No worries, they’ve got a Chinese section of the menu as well. Had Chinese last night? Never fear, there’s a whole Thai section as well. It’s a one stop shop for your Asian cuisine hopes and dreams. There are three different versions of the menu as well, the paper take out, the large plastic covered 3 fold style one, and then 3LCD monitors mounted above the cashier’s head. LCD monitors for menus are okay when you don’t have a slew of items. FURTHERMORE, the sushi monitor is on a loop that blazes 4 screens in four seconds. Bam, bam, bam. It’s nearly impossible to read or comprehend exactly what you’re looking at. I selected a chef combo sushi from the tri fold menu. I was pleased to find that your sushi is made fresh to order, right next to where you’re standing. In a few short moments my order was complete. As I was about to leave my wife called and asked me to bring her something as well, after reviewing the menu again I came to realize that there were more sushi combinations advertised on the LCD screen than in the menu. To make matters more confusing, the chef combinations in the tri fold menu were lettered, while the combinations on the monitor were numbered. Just to see what would happen I asked what came with Chef Special #12(the trifold menu only when up to H, which would be 8 if they were counting alphabetically). I had seen it flash on the screen about 20 times thus far and it looked like something my wife would love. I was impressed by the reply I got… «Hold on, we’ll have to check the screen». We all stood there, staring at the screen, myself and the sushi chefs. When it reappeared for an instant the chef said, that looks like a california roll, hold on, I’ll need to see it again. And we waited for the screens to rotate until it returned once again. He decided that there was some sashimi and nigiri on it as well. Wow. I don’t feel like the chef was new, he seemed to be training the person tha twas with him… I’m just baffled as to how you wouldn’t know the items on your own combination. Once the order was complete I ran the food over to my wife’s work and we dined together. The temperature of the rice was in my opinion, quite perfect, closer to body temperature than a refrigerator, however the texture was much gummier than I would hope for. The grade of the fish used for the sushi left much to be desired. Ganko isn’t expensive by any means, and it’s quite clear that you get what you pay for. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t remarkable either. I’m hoping to give Ganko another shot… maybe sushi isn’t where they excel. Maybe the real fireworks are somewhere in the Chinese section of the menu!

This place is so close to our place I can’t believe it has taken us months to eat here. Ditto to all the other reviews. Crab ragoons are sooo good! Friendly, helpful service, fast FRESH ingredients, great prices! We(bf and I) shared crab ragoons(full order) spring rolls and Thai chicken green curry. It was plenty of food and the total was less than $ 18. Family atmosphere, no fluff, just good food at a great price.

If you want well prepared Thai/Chinese/Japanese food with extremely friendly service and no pretension, eat here immediately. If you prefer a scene and overpriced mediocre food, stay downtown. They have all the standards. The food is well spiced and balanced and it is perfect for takeout if you’d rather stuff your face on your own couch like me.

I’ve been here three times and I have to say it’s the best sushi and take out in Asheville. This place is also very affordable and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful making the whole experience great. I will continue to return to this amazing restaurant, I can’t say enough good things about it. If you haven’t been you need to go!

Best asian take-out in Asheville. I am a big fan of their fresh seaweed salad and coconut green curry chicken. They also have goof crab rangoon and Spicy Thai Stir Fry. Service is excellent too!
