I was a little nervous about my visit to the allergist as my referring doctor told me that they don’t seem to take food allergies very seriously. The visit took quite a while(I was there for over 3 hours) but during that time there was very little wait time. When I walked in I filled out the new patient paperwork and within about 3 minutes of handing that in I was called back. Collete, the RN for Dr Elliston, met me at the door and was there for almost the whole process. She took my history, then left the room. Within ten minutes Dr Elliston was in the room apologizing for keeping me waiting. I hadn’t felt like I waited long at all. He asked me more questions about my history and why I was concerned with allergies. When he left the room Collette came right back in and did a breathing test and then gave me the wonderful paper scratchy top thing. I was stuck 96 times on the back and I have to admit that the 15 minutes of waiting was excruciating. They were able to clearly explain what I was reacting to(entirely too many items to name). Dr Elliston took the time to talk options with me and suggested allergy shots as I reacted to 75% of the allergens tested. We talked about my reactions to food and how to try and avoid certain things and which things were mild vs severe. I would recommend this doctor’s office to anyone getting a referral for an allergist.
