Distinct hipster vibe here. We stopped in on a Monday night for Siamese Jazz Club, a jazz/r&b group with a drummer, keyboardist, singer, and sometimes-percussionist. Drummer was incredible. Drinks were good, and pretty reasonably priced. Some wine specials and decent local beers on tap. Ample seating and fun atmosphere. We didn’t try the food but they had a limited bar menu with some tasty looking things.

Live music? Wine? Shit to look at? A back room where there’s more seating? Yes, yes, yes, and more yes’. This was a place that we stopped by on our way to more bars. This place was shown to us by a fellow friend and it as much appreciated. All I remember from this place was that it was definitely busy that Saturday night. I believe it was because of the live music that was jammin’ out all that good music. I didn’t really look at the prices as far as the wine menu goes, as I was just along for the ride. Inside, there’s a bar, and a small stage, and then further on back there’s a room where there’s more seating. There’s a couch along with several seats and all sorts of artwork and sculptures on the ceiling and along the walls. I thought it was very unique in the atmosphere that it created. Perfect for friends wanting to get together to share a bottle of wine together or a glass or two. We all had a bottle of wine together, enjoyed the music, and continued our trip to the next spot. But, definitely you should check this place out if you’re looking for wine.

Great place, great atmosphere, great music, and great dancing if you’re up for it. I went here on a Friday night while waiting for a table in another restaurant. The bar was full but a lot of people just go for a drink or 2 so bar stools open up frequently. We were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. We ordered drinks and some boiled peanuts. Everything was served quickly and the boiled peanuts were very tasty. My favorite part was the dancing. There is a small dance floor in the middle of the bar and couples of every level are welcomed. It was an unexpected but super fun perk. I would recommend this bar to any of my friends.

Small and crowded and a heck of a lot of fun. The music was good and not too loud for the small very casual space. If you can’t get in, please, please do not go to Olive or Twist, it’s kinda sleazy feeling.

Cheese platter off the chain. Got the Pinot noir, tasty. The best part was the live jazz band. Not too loud not too quiet. Packed but worth it.

I stopped in here while waiting for a table. It was a Friday night and very crowded and difficult to get up to the bar to order. We grabbed a couple of barstools at an open window seat and got to watch the bustle of the street go by. The wine list is good and we had some amazing rosemary toasted almonds! It looked like they were setting up for live music which could’ve made conversation impossible, but overall a small, nice place to grab a drink.

Nice bar with a very good lineup for live music! Good ambience for the most part. Only one thing was a little strange, an exchange of a glass of wine for not liking it, you still get a full charge for it with a very straight forward face«no escape«type. That’s just too bad! Lighten up ladies bartenders that work there!:)

Dropped around the corner to wait for our Bouchon table. While the crowd is a bit older, it’s a great spot for people watching. We grabbed a seat at the window counter overlooking the sidewalk and ordered a couple of unoaked chardonnays — generous pours, perfectly chilled accompanied by a dish of smoked almonds dusted with rosemary — super savory. The downside is it was elbow to elbow(but to be expected on a Friday night) and swampy hot(no air). The live jazz was great and the glass of wine so large we barely finished before our table was ready.

What a cute little wine bar. I stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for dinner reservations. We got lucky and were able to get two seats looking out the window. The wine selection is great and they have plenty of beers on tap too. I love the décor; wooden tables, dim lights, stools and a beautifully painted wall. I enjoyed the live music. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was friendly. Can’t wait to return and tell my wine-o friends about this place!

I adore this place I should probably give it 4 stars because you can rarely find a seat, but I love it too much to take a star away for this. Yes it’s crowded, but I love the space. Wooden tables and stools, dim lights, great window seats. The servers are a hit or miss. I love their $ 5 specials(look at the board direct opposite the window seats– it’s hidden) not only because it saves $$ but because it’s a great way to try some new wines.

Could have gone here every night of my vacation if I’d had time. A hip, cool place! Happy vibes here. The idea is simple. Wine. Great live music. We Stood out on the sidewalk some nights when it was too crowded to get in, and Had just as much fun. 5 Walnut captures the essence of Asheville.

Nice wine and beer selection. Close quarters with limited seating makes it cozy for some or claustrophobic for others. Local bands like Empire Strikes Brass really bring the little space to life.

Stopped by here on a Friday night at about 8. Easily got a seat. This place is a little loud because it seems to be that perfect meeting place. Folks are really enjoying it here. We did too! Great wine! The live music really makes this quaint little spot so nice. We are back on a Saturday night because we loved it so much!

Four stars for the vibe. It was cozy, had«ambiance» and had live music that was actually decent which I feel is hard to come by in a bar these days. We ordered the Standard for a snack and it had cheese, salami, bread and pickles. It was perfect for a bar snack. I ordered the Sauv. Blanc and it was delicious. The prices were reasonable for a wine bar. If you go, get there early if you want a table or a spot at the bar. We lucked out with someone leaving but others were waiting for a spot for a while. I would definitely go back here!

Okay first of all I can’t say enough good things about this small hang out. The band last night, Pleasure Chest, was absolutely fantastic and we could not leave until they were finished playing. Absolutely wonderful entertainment, and a great Malbec wine ‘Bonfonti’. Worth coming early because it packs out quick.

I had a great time here. I was invited to an event/dinner down the road, but I’m not much on small talk, so I sneaked away and worked my way into the Walnut Wine Bar. Great live music and I sampled some super Chiantis while chatting with the lovely bartender and listening to the dilemmas of the young man on the bar stool next to me. All was good. Good time and nice people and super vino.

Fun energy bubbly atmosphere. 5.00 glass of wine. 5 Walnut Wine Bar features live music every night. The diversity of the crowd and music was outstanding. One night it was the Dead Elvis Junk Band, another night, reggae featuring drums and guitar. Both nights, the music was above standard. Crowd watching was as entertaining as the music. Cruising 40 somethings one night, featuring booze filled awkward fumblings was like a weird high school time warp. Captivating yet cloying like old perfume. Another night, a drunken cowboy and several tipsy women seriously enjoyed the Dead Elvis Junk Band. They were excellent. One fella sporting a white fedora, and an prominent schnoz had possession of a sweet tenor and some fiery fingers on his stringed instrument. Another fella who looked was hipster country put earthen ware pot playing into a new perspective. This place was full of warm good fun. The wide open windows welcome you, stand outside and listen or come on in and join in… or watch. I guarantee, better than Nexflix any night of the week.

Quite possibly the cutest wine bar I’ve been to in a while. Cute, quaint, sweet. Let me list out some pros, as I didn’t find too many cons… –Deep and complex wine list and draft list(tons of local options on the beer front) –Great specials and pricing($ 5 glass of wine options, affordable per glass pricing) –Nice array of snackity snacks(ranging from local baked goods to an *awesome* pickle bowl!) –Local music! –Open and airy setup, especially with the big front(open-able) windows –Friendly and knowledgeable staff who are super willing to let you taste before you buy I’d totally go back just for the pickle bowl and the piano man!
