I found this place with the help of Unilocal and very last minute while in South NJ having a beach day. This place is on my top 5 best pork I’ve ever had and that’s coming from a Puerto Rican that loves my pork. Super nice staff that can cook some good ass Cuban food.

We ordered the family size chicken which came with rice and bean and coleslaw. The service was good– very friendly and warm. The portion was good for 2 adults and 2 kids. The food was a good value for 4. In terms of quality it was ok. If you are here for a short time, eat on the boardwalk and enjoy the view. If you se looking for decent cheap food– grab it here and go to the beach.

Went here while we were in town for a wedding. The croquettes were better than 90% that I find in florida. The serving sizes were obnoxious, in a good way. I suggest splitting a plate. Everything was delicious here. But make sure to get the croquettes.

Good, inexpensive eats not far from the Asbury Park boardwalk. Ordered a roasted pork special(pernil, rice and beans), papas rellenas sandwich, two chicken empanadas, a side of papas rellenas, tostones, and two large sodas, which came to just under $ 21! I am stuffed. The pork special, which was about $ 6, was amazing. The pork was tender and delicious. I will go back just for this. The tostones were great. Each one was topped with a bit of chopped garlic. The chicken empanadas were also good. I will skip the papas rellenas next time, just out of personal preference. The staff was super friendly and they even brought the food out to our table outside. I can’t wait to go back again.

One of our favorites, my husband and I. When we visit Asbury Park it’s such a delight to eat here. Of course I’m going to be basic and say one of our favorites are the Cuban sandwich, and fried tostonas. The pulled pork is so delicious, and slow cooked. The staff is nice, although they don’t speak good English so it was hard to figure out exactly some of the things we wanted to try.

Definitely a great meal and we will be back. The pork and chicken breast was so tasty. The sweet plantains were the best I’ve had in a long time. Delicious sides and all this food for a great price. We took the flan to go which was amazing!!! We will return for the tres leches soon! Amazing flavors, great service, perfect price.

I would be a house if I lived anywhere nearby this place with it’s delicious Cuban food and $ 5.95 lunch specials(which also includes a drink)! I came in because I was working nearby and wanted a lunch that was fast and cheap, and boy did this place deliver! It is located off of a supermarket parking lot and you can hear the Latin music blasting as soon as you pull in. The space inside is really small with only one table and some standing room. There are tables on the outside under a tent which would be great for hotter weather, but in the winter is completely out of the question. The cook was very friendly and came out to tell me all about the menu because he saw I was having a hard time choosing what to order. The daily menu changes often and today included a beautiful whole fried fish, roasted pork, stewed meat and roasted chicken. You can always tell a good Cuban restaurant by their preparation of their pernil(roasted pork) and this one was amazing! It was tender and pulled apart easily, with lots of great garlic flavor. I went with the white rice and black beans which were good, but lacked a little salt for my taste. One portion was good enough for two people, as the to go container was really packed! The only thing that I really didn’t enjoy were the meat empanadas. I got two and one was only half cooked and the meat in both was barely seasoned, so I would stick to actual entrees. Also, it doesn’t look like a place that takes credit, but they do! So needless to say, I look forward to coming back when I come to asbury during the summer months!

One of my new favorite lunch spots in Asbury Park. The staff is friendly, it’s reasonably priced and extremely authentic. Lunch specials are huge and include rice, beans, a soda, and a choice of a meat for around $ 8. Unheard of for Asbury. The pernil(roasted pork) is amazing! The fricase de pollo(chicken with a sauce and potatoes) is also delicious. Don’t forget to try the empanadas and maduros(sweet plantains). Also, this place is starting to become noticed, so get there early to avoid the line. The inside is very small, but they offer outside seating as well. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!

Yup! Just as described… delicious and incredibly reasonably priced Cuban food! If you live at the shore, don’t want to spend a lot for a meal, need a break from Italian and Pub food and like Cuban… go for it! Yum!!!

Great Food, Great People, and Excellent Prices. I have eaten at the Cuban Café at least 30 times and it hits every time. Unreal lunch/dinner specials and if you want to venture off stuff a Cuban Sandwich down your gullet.

I never take the time to write a review, but the experience was so bad that I just couldn’t let it go. If I could give this place zero or negative stars I would. Strike 1: Call in an order for delivery with a total of $ 18.50. As soon as I tell the guy on the phone that is all that I wanted he said he would not deliver unless it was $ 20. Fine, so I decide to drive down to this place. Strike 2: They take my order for a Cuban sandwich and sides. The guy in the kitchen starts cutting the bread without any gloves on. No big deal I can handle it. After he places the bread in the grill to toast it he then puts the gloves on. Fine no big deal. The second strike comes when 5 minutes later he comes and tells me that they are out of pork. Strike 3: I pick another substitute meat and I think that the worst is over. The«cook» goes to the back and grabs a dirty rag to clean the counter and moves the trash can several times while wearing the plastic gloves. I think, fine he will probably change the gloves out before he handles the ingredients for my sandwich. Boy was I wrong. He just reached in for the ingredients with those dirty gloves and began to stack them on the bread. The sandwich and the sides went straight to the garbage and I will never go back to that place again.

Found this place on Unilocal and it definitely did not disappoint! I had the daily special of Lechon Asado(roast pork) with black rice, beans and fried sweet plantains while M had the same thing but wih yellow rice. Very delicious and huge portions! The black rice was seasoned with black beans and pork chunks and could have been a meal in itself. The staff was very friendly and kept checking up on us. The inside is a bit small with only about 12 seats. There is some outdoor seating with Cuban music playing. Do not expect fine dining here This is more like a neighborhood eatery. Imagine some Cuban grandma deciding to put up a restaurant in her own kitchen /dining room. We’ll definitely be back. Would like to try the Cuban sandwich and the oxtail. Definitely value for money in terms of taste and quantity.

So you know when you’re in Belmar and you want a bite to eat and you don’t want to pay $ 14 for a burger that tastes like it was washed up in Hurricane Sandy? Yeah? Me too! Off to Unilocal to search for something I’d actually like to eat(I mean, I like pizza and all that stuff, but it’s insult to injury to a foodie when it sucks and a slice costs half a coal pie in philly), and saw cuban food with 1 $ and 4.5*? Well then, yabba dabba doooooo! Put my feet through the car floor and got over to cuban café. It’s in a former Checkers fast food building, which I thought was pretty quirky. They used the drive through speakers to play Cuban music — ahaha! ingenious! The food is so cheap and so good. We got the braised/pulled pork(ropa vieja?), chicken, and pastelitos. There’s a store next door that sells booze, so I picked up a six pack of some messikan brews(it was either modelo or coors/bud/etc — no beer selection like philly!) The folks that run it are really nice, very accommodating –brought out a plate of limes for the brewskis. Oh I forgot, my inner(and outer, who am I kidding) fat kid kicked in and said get a cuban sandwich! Ate half there, half at home. It was great. 40 – 45 bucks and we got enough food for 4. Till next summer!

Not a bad little spot in Asbury! This little shop reminds me of an old Stewart’s inside. Checkered floor, mostly bar stools. There is one table with 8 chairs for a group. The menu is expansive, and I felt a little overwhelmed trying to narrow it down. They do offer a $ 6 lunch special which many people chose to enjoy. It was busy and almost every stool had someone eating delicious looking food. The woman at the counter seemed overwhelmed so I waited patiently for her to notice me standing there. I orders the Cuban sandwich which was a full sized sub pressed with all the fixing. It was enormous, and for $ 10 comparable to most hot subs you’d find at a deli. It did not come with any sides, like I could eat anything else anyway. There was outside seating, but the weather compelled me to eat in my car. When I paid by credit card then machine froze up and she had to swipe my card 3 times. I don’t feel like they were trying anything, it just always makes me nervous when mobile card devices do that, next time for convenience sake I will bring cash. Fun fact they also sell Cortez cigars for those who enjoy a little smoke. Good food, solid selection, enjoy a little Havana by the sea.

Second time here for a Cubano and they are quite authentic and delicious. They did a nice job converting the old Sonic burger joint into the Cuban Café. Plenty seating outside with cool Cuban music playing but limited seating inside. Their menu has grown quite a bit over the past year, which is good news. With it’s art deco design you would think you are in Cuba when dining here. Each day they have a nice lunch special of the day for $ 5.95 — a sweet deal. Worth the trip to Asbury so go check it out when you get a yen for authentic Cuban food in a real cool setting.

I was in the neighborhood today on my way to the boardwalk and was craving coffee when I spotted this cute little Cuban café. It was like being in Little Havana in Miami. I had the most delicious coladita with a warm ham croquette. They had so many Cuban specials. I wanted try everything. But, since we were on are way to the boardwalk, I kept it light. However, I will absolutely be coming back to have pernil with maduros and black beans. Yummy!

Spot on meal! Wow best Cuban food in the area and that’s coming from someone who used to live in Cuban filled Hudson county. Prices are very reasonable and summer hours extend until 10:00pm. Cute picnic tables and Cuban music create a nice ambience

Words can only approach or point to the experience of eating at this authentic Cuban eatery. It is out-of-this world! We have never been disappointed! Chicken, pork, Ox tails, beans and rice, cassava, salad and Cuban sandwich are but a few items on their extensive menu – all a must – with much more. Did I say the guys who run this place love what they’re doing? You will want to be a part of this Cuban family. They are the real deal! You will be back!
