My favorite Chinese food restaurant! The orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken are both delicious!

Since I work in Arvin I frequent this establishment at least twice a month. I typically get the lunch special with fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork, and hot and sour chicken. The food is good. The service is great. It’s definitely a hole in the wall.

I was raised here in Arvin and seen many Chinese restaurants come and go. Canton Cafè has stood the test of time. I’m pretty much a regular, and never had something I didn’t like here; the beef & broccoli is the best that I’ve from any place. The chow mein is delicious as well. You owe it to yourself to try it, you won’t be disappointed.

There’s not a lot of choices that I have found in Arvin but this place is very delicious.

Canton is clearly not the best Chinese food out there, but it’s still tasty and reasonably priced. I work out in Arvin so this is an easy, affordable lunch spot for me. The only complaint I have is that they only take cash. That can be a little inconvenient at times.

Had cantons what can I say. The food all tastes the same. They make their sauces with cornmeal to thicken it. Boy does it make their food unappealing. All the food has a slight Grey color to it because of this. Which I would deal with if the food wasn’t so damn bland. It’s not Chinese food, it’s fried meats with a unappetizing sauce drizzled on top. Oh man this place just doesn’t satisfy any of my senses. Final nail on the coffin is the extremely rude guy at the counter. I’m giving you business try to be more nice. The problem I’ve realized with Arvin is that there’s no good food here which let’s these business owners do whatever they please, and get away with it. Cantons is a no go. Unilocal should have a no star rating we can choose. This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star

I grew up in Arvin, and the one thing I always looked forward was eating food from Canton Café. It’s a small town, and they probably have the best food and such a reasonable price too. I’ve lived in Bakersfield and Los Angeles, and tried numerous Chinese places. However I always compare it to Canton Café, and it never compares to it. All the bad reviews in here, dont listen to them. Their lunch special is awesome, it’s starts at 4.95. For dinner, I always get the Canton Special. Their chow mein and fried rice w pork is to die for!

I have had my fair share of really good authentic Chinese food(I live in San Francisco, take a day to eat anywhere out there and you’ll learn what real good food is). This place wasn’t the worst, but it most certainly wasn’t the best. My family and I ordered a number of things: beef and broccoli, chow mein, orange chicken and egg rolls. The ‘typical’ stuff. I found the sauce that was thickly slathered over the beef and broccoli to be a bit too artificial tasting, as if it was just this gelatinous«chicken flavored» goo. Which was a pity because the broccoli was wonderfully tender and the beef delicious and succulent. The chow mein was nothing more than store bought ramen noodles, boiled until tender then doused with more of that sauce. They were the most disappointing. The egg-rolls tasted like they were the frozen store bought kind, heated up the microwave and served up. and the sweet and sour sauce was basically water, corn starch, pink food coloring and sugar. The very same disgustingly sweet sauce was dumped on the orange chicken. The only heroes of the whole dinner was the chicken and mushroom meal. This place has potential to be great, the vegetables and the meats all taste fresh and delicious(after you scrape that nasty goo sauce off of them) It’s edible but not really a place I could ever recommend to anyone. I haven’t tried the only other Chinese restaurant but I can say that this place is most definitely not the best.

I bet you are as surprised as I am that you can actually get good Chinese food in Arvin(not just edible, but really good), but for years the Canton Café has been one of our favorites. There is no ambience, whatsoever, but the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the quantities ample. We usually get takeout so it’s not much of an issue. I’d much prefer a restaurant concentrate on the food than on the décor anyway. And the owners/employees are all smiles and friendly as can be. My favorite is the Egg Foo Young. The patties are substantial and drenched in sauce. My brother’s favorite is the Kung Pao Chicken. They make it special for him — all meat and sauce and no veggies. They make a special veggie dish for my stepfather that is not on the menu but is oh-so-good! A definite must try if you’re in the Arvin area. You won’t regret it. PS cash only

This is a good all-around Chinese restaurant. Definitely the best one in town.
