Unkommon is a local boutique shoe shop in Artesia. It’s not very unkommon for me to go on sneaker binges at local unkommon shops where people don’t shop. I usually don’t like to tell anyone about my favorite shops cause I don’t want the word to get out then I can’t find my size. However, I can’t keep it a secret anymore like TMZ and I have the urge to let everyone know. I go through my phases when it comes to sneakers. I went through the Classics stage, skaters kick stage, Jordans stage and now I’m back at the Classics stage. Now, this is where Unkommon comes into the picture like an unexpected pregnancy. Unkommon provides me with the items I need during this phase of my shoe collection. There was so many pairs I wanted and it didn’t help when they were relatively cheap. Now, my sneaker collection is at 70+ from 60+. Well, that’s what usually happens when you have«F*CKYOUMONEY», son. Unkommn has a great selection of Classic Converse and Reeboks in colorways you don’t see in the major retail stores. Major bonus for someone who doesn’t like wearing sneakers everyone else is sporting. I usually get buyer’s remorse when I go on my binges unlike most women with their purses. However, it didn’t happen with Unkommon. I usually pick up around 5 to 10 new sneakers every binge and those sneakers usually last me for some time. It’s a horrible habit but sometimes you got to ball out and make it rain pennies, nickels and dimes. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking out Unkommon for Unkommon colorways and Classics. I’m a classic man. You can be me when you look this clean. I’m a classic man. Calling on me like a young OG. I’m a classic man. Your needs get met by the street, elegant old fashioned man. Yeah baby I’m a classic man. Lastly, I’m definitely coming back and hopefully they’ll have my size after the word gets out about them. I got 99 problems but my kicks ain’t one, son. However, 99 problems is still a hell of a lot of problems.

Located in a place that’s unkommon, but that’s the beauty of a shop like this. The selection of shoes are good and I can’t give enough thanks for the kind recommendations the guys at the shop gave me. If you’re in the area, drop by and talk shoes with them. Definitely a good talk and good shop.

There is more than meets the eye to this unkommon shop. It’s located in an unassuming strip mall that can easily be missed(I missed it a couple times myself). Parking is in the back so you can access the lot either from Pioneer Blvd. or from behind, off Corby Ave. I really appreciate their minimalist interior design as I feel that their inventory should be the forefront of the shop. Their shoe selection is pretty diverse. They currently carry everything from Vans, Converse, Clarks, Thorogood, Wolverine and Timberland. There’s also a decent selection of Jansport Heritage Series backpacks and bags. They will soon carry TOMS and expand on their Nike shoe game so stay tuned you Nike shoe fiends! The extremely friendly employee also mentioned adding apparel and Herschel accessories very soon. They have pretty extensive Timberland options here. I, myself, was FINALLY able to get my hands on the classic wheat boot. They only had one pair of my size in stock, which just so happened to be the display, but the employee happily yanked it and boxed it up for me without hesitation. Their customer service is on point! I foresee many more trips to this shop especially when their inventory grows. Follow them on IG [UNKOMMONSHOP] for the latest on what they have in store!

There’s actually something unkommon about this shoe store. But, I’m not going to tell you. What I will say is that the place is particular yet original and for a shoe addict like me, that works just fine. Just like the select footwear that’s sold inside, the store is clean and hip. Not a very large store, but there’s enough to keep you interested. Sometimes, the bigger the selection, the more confusion and time you’re going to spend so I like to see just the right amount of sneakers to get my juices flowing. If you’re a shoe aficionado, check this place out. Good selection of boots too. You might be surprised to see what’s in store. CHUCKTAYLORALL-STARS Introduced in 1917, it’s the most successful selling basketball shoe in history. Known for it’s signature raison star logo, all the basic colors are sold here. Having a unisex design, the Converse sneaker still remains fashionable and people like me who prefer chucks are devoted fans of the shoe. If you don’t own one of the 800 million pairs that been sold to date, then there’s something definitely wrong here. However, today’s purchase was the Chiili Pepper/Black VANS. A dark bright red color, outlined with black shoelaces. I’m positive that a few compliments will follow. Adding them to my collection was the highlight of my weekend. Just ask Jesus. He’s the sales clerk that works here. A cool guy who happened to notice my sly grin as I left the venue. So what’s so unkommon about this shoe store? Go do yourself a favor and find out.
