Okay… granted, I JUST discovered this place and have not purchased meat from here… YET. This place JUST opened up yesterday and I can not even begin to describe how excited I am to have a meat market less than a mile away from me. There were whole lambs in a display case… this is the real deal. All meat is Halal and the owner is clearly passionate about what he does. If you live in the Cordova/Arlington/Lakeland area, you know what a treasure this is going to be. Here is the quote from the card the gentleman gave me: «We sell lamb, goat, beef and chicken»(We raise our animals on our farm in Whiteville, TN.) «We slaughter, clean, cut and deliver all Halal meat.» I honestly didn’t know what Halal was until today… the way he explained it to me is that instead of shooting an animal, they cut the throat and allow the blood to drain… resulting in a better product. Whatever the case, this shop’s product looked wonderful. I am dining at a steakhouse tonight, otherwise I would have purchased something… look for an update very, very soon. I am elated to have this business in our neighborhood! **update** I did a little research on Halal and discovered it’s not only a matter of how the animal is butchered, it’s also a matter of how they are raised… in a good environment without stress. In the words of Stephen O., «Halal is to Muslims what Kosher is to Judiasm.» Total coolness. I am making my honey fried chicken tonight. I see in my future tomorrow a trip to Zam Zam!
