This place has been shut down — mid-stream. It looks as if someone came in and just told everyone to drop everything and leave.

Not the greatest Thai food. I find many of the entrees to be a bit disappointing. For example, the drunken noodle leaves a lot to be desired, and the pad thai is fairly bland. The Prik King with beef has a sauce that is absolutely delicious, and I think Thai Terrace has the best wonton soup in the area… very tasty broth. I wouldn’t go there for sit down, but if you are hungry after a long day of work and don’t feel like taking the time to cook, it is definitely worth ordering takeout(assuming you live in the Ballston neighborhood).

Dumplings were very delicious. Tom yum tasted well too Restaurant generally stays empty evenings and weekends so it’s nice and quiet. The server working was very nice and she kept my cupith filled at all times. Which is a great plus for this location I don’t think the prices were bad either. I tries an app a soup and a main course for you guys and they were all good I recommend this Thai location for a nice quiet Sunday lunch. Tara temple on the other hand for a nice way to impress a date or friend.

My boyfriend used to live in Ballston so we often went to Thai Terrace, and I’m a big fan! We had one of our first dates there(awww) and though the inside is nothing to write home about, it’s quaint, quiet and a great place to sit and talk for a few hours. Service staff was friendly and checked in on us enough, but not so much we wanted to get out of there just to get them out of our hair. The food itself is great — I think I almost always got the beef pad thai, which was delicious. We tried other various menu items which were also good, but once I find something I like, I don’t usually branch out. The appetizers were good, too. We also used to get delivery quite frequently and their service was excellent — usually delivered 10 – 15 mins earlier than they would predict on the phone, and food was always hot. Definitely recommend trying this place!

*DOWNGRADE* I laid down the challenge: What does the chef recommend? Steamed Dumplings Emerald Curry w/Chicken Singha Beer The steamed dumplings were good. The sauce was a tad bit salty, but overall a pleasant start. The first bite of the curry was very good. The second bite was where I encountered a rusty staple. Crunchy! Did you see the word«rusty»? I asked for another meal. again, the chef’s choice. The waitress brought out a new plate, and transferred my curry covered flatware to the new plate. No, the next dish was not made with green curry, it was a garlic chicken dish. Good news, a waiter took away the plate and used utensils. The next dish came and looked good. Too bad I didn’t have a plate. When the plate arrived, I had to sit, wait, and finally flag down a waiter to ask for flatware. Ugh! You have a staple(RUSTY) in your last dish and you follow up with this?!? Seriously? Dude, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot — OVER! This was pre-cut, pre-cooked, pieces of unseasoned chicken that was covered in a garlic sauce and warmed. There was no flavor convergence. Paper would of had more flavor than this«chicken». 80% of the meal was left untouched. The final insult was the handling of the bill. I was not charged with the curry — Good. They gave me a free beer — Still good. Everything else was charged. The bill came to just over $ 22. Fine. I paid with two twenty dollar bills. The change: $ 17 and change. BUTWAIT, why did I get two 5s and seven 1s??? Oh no! I asked for a ten and was told that the restaurant did have anything larger than a five dollar bill. Was I supposed to believe that the staff and restaurant could not find a $ 10 bill, even as they deliver food, run a bar, and serve other people staple free food? 5% tip. $ 1.10. Yes, I explained it to the main waiter. Yes, it is more insulting than no tip at all. Hopefully they will learn. I won’t find out though, because I won’t be going back.

I don’t know how this place has any bad reviews. Everything I get from here has always been good! I get carry out from Thai Terrace all the time. I’d eat here more often if they put their chairs back outside. What a shame that they got stolen long ago! Anyway, this place is definitely a treat! My favorite dishes: royal panang curry, cashew chicken(YUM!!), ginger chicken and curry puffs. Update – they just brought the outside chairs back!

What a mediocre lunch. The service was ok, but the food was okay at best, and there was a bug in my water glass. My friend and I shared the«queen of the sea» appetizer of soft shell crab and calamari; the crab was extremely fishy tasting, and the calamari was rubbery. Very sad. I ordered the tofu with basil, which was merely okay. It’s one of my favorite thai dishes, however, so I was very disappointed in its taste. My friend ordered the pad broccoli, which he was not at all thrilled with. The thai iced tea was decent. I won’t be going back there. Not when 1 Gen is closer to my office, and so much better.

I get take-out from here all the time because it’s right down the street from me but the food is just mediocre. I get the fried rice and drunken noodles a lot. Both the rice and noodles are often clumpy and the flavor is below the bar when it comes to Thai food. I’ve tried the curries as well and those are usually better. The service is at par and the ambiance is decent. Two-stars for the unexciting food.

Nothing like Thai food just some steps away from your place. Went here for lunch on a Monday afternoon and it wasn’t busy at all. Sweet! Love the ambiance in the place: there is a hinting modern-like theme. Even the plates play along, haha. Had Kanon Jeeb for an appetizer, came out very quick. Dumplings sprinkled with toasted garlic bits sitting atop Thai soy sauce. Tasty and delish. Had the Duck Supreme served with steamed rice. Basil on top was an awesome touch to the chef sauce. Yum. Overall, great food, but might need slightly bigger portions for the price. Great service. Will be back for more Thai grub!

I took my sister to dinner last week and tried this place out for the first time since it’s right up the street from me. I’m a big Thai food fan, so I’m always skeptical at first but their food was delicious, the service was good, and the décor was nice. At the end of our meal the server gave us two coupons for a free entrée(march madness deal) if we came back within 7 days, which I did :) Both of my dishes, shrimp ka prow and peppery garlic shrimp were very tasty. Check them out!

This thai place is pretty solid. I got the drunken noodles which was tasty. I’ve been for lunch which has a pretty nice ambiance as it’s not too loud or busy. My friends and I have gotten it as take-out and it’s just as good!

I got the chicken panang and while it was good, it was a little different from what I’m used to. First, the sauce tasted creamy(like it had actual cream in it) rather than coconut-y. Second, it doesn’t come with any veggies – so order a side of steamed broccoli or something to add a little color and nutritional value! All in all, I really enjoyed my meal and for about $ 11 I total I thought the prices were fair. The ambiance is OK – nothing special in terms of décor. There is plenty of space though which is nice because the tables aren’t on top of one another. One sort of weird thing is that they don’t have a private bathroom – it’s a shared bathroom that the building maintains. I would definitely come back here and try a different dish.

I live nearby and have been to this restuarant at least 8 times. And every time I have been here I have left satisfied. I have never seen it overly crowded and we are always seated and served right away. I always get the same thing — either peppery garlic chicken or a dish that has chicken in ginger sauce. I have tried several of their soups and all were great. The food is great, but I do have to say, more expensive than I would expect. It is no Kanyala Thai, which also has great food but is a little easier on the wallet! Still this is a great place with fast service and good food. I definitely recommend it.

Overpriced food that doesn’t live up to its billing — I’ve tried this place three times, three different dishes, so it’s not just a one-off mistake. Never going back here again if I can help it. The Pad Thai(my go-to dish — OK, fine, I’m a white girl) is glompy and unappetizing; the Panang Curry is dull; and the Tom-Yum soup is uninspiring(I THINK it made me sick, but I can’t be sure, so I’m not going to risk it again). This place is a poor value compared to other Thai restaurants in the area(I can’t help but notice that it’s always empty when I come in to pick up my takeout) and the food doesn’t help its cause. I learned after a few visits that I was better off visiting its competitors — I get my Pad Thai from the place in the mall now, and make the rest of my Thai dishes at home. No interest in going back to this place.

I gave Thai Terrace one star because I don’t think I can give them Zero! I work down the hall from this restaurant and we use the same bathroom. I don’t know how many times I have seen one of the female cooks from this place: 1. not flush the toilet &2. NEVERWASHHERHANDS!!! I don’t know if she washes back at the restaurant, but who knows what she touches there before she gets to a sink! I also think their food is not the greatest and pretty overpriced for the portions.

3.5 stars The food is very, very good. I’ve had the calamari(comes with a soft shell crab!), pad thai, dumplings, fried rice, and mango sticky rice. All were excellent. The ambiance is fine, nice for an Asian restaurant. However, the portions are quite small. For the prices they charge most other restaurants would serve twice the amount of food. An entrée will not be filling to even a medium eater. So. .. for us this has become a restaurant for a special occasion, not a go-to every weekend, which is unfortunate because we live very close by.

Maybe I would eat here again if there were no other restaurants open within a mile of my house. As it stands, I live a 2-minute walk from this place and I’m not going back. I love thai food, but there’s enough thai food in Arlington to justify me never going back here. I went once in September 2007 and again in January 2009, and the food was bad both times. Summer rolls had far too much basil(and I like thai basil), and the dipping sauce was sickly sweet. Tom kha gai(chicken coconut-milk soup) was one-note: Sweet. We tried some kind of pepper chicken, and it was so salty that we couldn’t eat it. The pad thai was okay, but it’s hard to completely screw up pad thai. Ditto with the thai iced coffee. The décor is nice, and the service is okay. It’s just the food that makes this so very one-star. Did I mention that it’s the same or pricier than other thai restaurants nearby? WHYCOMEHERE?

Quiet ambiance, great service, reasonable prices and tasty food. My friends parents took my roomies and I out to dinner here the other day because we had passed it numerous times on our way to the mall and, being big fans of Thai food, we wanted to try it out. The service was friendly and relatively quick. They were there to fill your water glass right before it was empty and everyone’s meals came out at the same time. For appetizers we ordered dumplings and a fried soft shell crab and calamari dish. The portions were small, but after all, Americans are too used to larger than life serving sizes, so as a taste, they were really good. For my meal I ordered my favorite, Pad Thai with shrimp. Once again, the portion wasn’t overwhelming and it was delicious. I sampled other people’s meals as well and each dish was yummy. My friend’s dad then surprised us all ordering dessert without telling us. One was a plate of fried bananas with a scoop of ice cream and chocolate syrup… AMAZING. I only wish that there were more than two tinsy pieces of banana. The second was green tea ice cream and a coffee flavored ice cream in a floury dough, also enjoyable and unique. I would recommend this place to someone and tell them it was very tasty. I probably wouldn’t rave about it, but I would definitely go back here again.

I’m not sure why this place didn’t get good reviews in the past. but maybe the chef, owner or manager has changed when(or right before) I visited there? I have been pretty happy with Thai Terrace every time I dined there. First of all, the webpage is for other restaurant! For menu, just see the menu page. TT has very good modern deco inside, friendly service(male servers seem to be much nicer though.) and good variety of dishes on the menu. I’ve tried quite a lot of dishes and all of them were good. I often go for spicy ones and if not spicy(says on the menu), I can ask them to make it spicy and they can always do that. I also ask more veg and they put extra veg without any charge. Most dishes on hot-sizzling plate are very good. One of my favorite is chicken/shrimp on sizzling plate. Portion is very good too, compared to most other restaurants like bangkok 54. Then, of course great price! Considering quantity and quality of food, TT is the bargain of the day-place! TT has HH between 4 – 7 weekdays for $ 4 drink specials and some appetizer specials. Lychee martini is good.

The menu features a mix of traditional and modern Thai dishes. The deep-fried shrimp-stuffed pastry is very good. There are several tasty salads to choose from, including a marinated beef, onion and scallions in a spicy lime dressing. I highly recommend the deep dish ginger(chicken or beef tossed with fresh ginger and mushrooms in a bean sauce.) There are also several grilled entrees, including New York strip steak with ginger sauce, and several delicious curries. Vegetarians will not be disappointed as they have many good dishes. Long story short: Creative Thai food in a comfortable atmosphere with some limited outdoor seating. A very good lunch choice, with multiple lunch specials. Also, moderately well stocked bar provides for most basic drink needs.
