This is my go-to place for Chinese bread. I love the pork bbq bread and other meat breads because those are filling, perfect for class break. I have tried the flavored green tea also and it’s good, but a bit pricey in my opinion. The service is usually good and friendly, except when they have family members hanging out in the store. They were just chatting at the register and not helping at all.

I was on a hunt to find some good egg custards in Texas without having to go to a dim sum. Came across this bakery and decided to give it a try. It’s a really small bakery. I got egg custards, pork bun, light pound cake bread, matcha smoothie and a taro smoothie. The egg custard was soooo good. I would definitely come back for the egg custards. The taro and matcha smoothies were also good as well. The staff here were very friendly great job star kiwi now I’m hooked on your egg custards.

Their egg custard was very good! Not too sweet and large in size. Too bad they’re 25 miles from me or I would go there more often.

I was so excited to stumble upon Star Kiwi’s Unilocal page– delicious and beautiful Chinese/Taiwanese bread? I’m a sucker for pretty packaging and display cases with bright lights ^^” So the Pengoon and I ventured out to try these pastries… And they were okay~ your standard Asian bread: pineapple buns, coconut buns, red bean buns, cute cakes, and the more traditional wife cakes /white gourd cakes, but nothing that screamed unique~ oh, well, I guess there was also pâté chaude, an oily meat paste entombed in another oily, lard-based shell, a Vietnamese favorite that I tried for the first time and wasn’t a super fan. The workers were nice, and there were couches and a table where you could enjoy your pastries~. Overall, the breads taste pretty good, but I’ve been spoiled by legendary(IMO!) bakeries in Houston(shoutout to Six Ping and Kamalan)! People who live closer should give this bakery a try, but Arlington is a bit of a drive for me, so I will quell my cravings with breads from 99 Ranch market!

A hidden gem in this center. A beautifully designed bakery. They have very cheap prices and wonderfully delicious sweets and savory Chinese style breads. My girlfriend lives the egg tarts and i enjoy the shredded pork bread

BBQ pork bun is very delicious. The filling has tons of meat & the bread is soft & a bit sweet. Also, the bun is refrigerated well. It stays soft until next day. The coconut bun is good too. We will visit there again.

The chocolate mousse cake was the best according to me. And it was delicious! But the rest were just… meh! Especially the strawberry mousse cake. It was like eating nothing. It tasted like nothing followed by a sharp chemical after-taste. The durian cake was okay. It had the weird smell unique of Durian(which I’m cool with) and fibers! So I know they added fresh fruit and not flavoring to the cake, which is a plus. The Tiramisu cake was good too. Spongy and slightly sweet. I really don’t know why I didn’t love this place. I would eat their chocolate mousse cake any day and wouldn’t mind the tiramisu if offered. But I can’t make myself drive for 14 mins to just eat their cakes(and I’m known for driving for hours to get a bite of anything yummy). It might be because my tastebuds are not accustomed to Chinese bakeries. I prefer German bakeries more(grew up close to em). So its just a matter of personal preference. If you like lightly sweet desserts, this might be a place for you. Give them a try!

Wow! Finally a bakery near by that I can stop by anytime to pick up some sweets! I was very excited after noticing their commercial on TV, I had to give it a try. Today was the day I was near by and pay the bakery a visit. As I was walking in I notice that the place looks empty. I headed towards the pastries/bakeries station I notice their selection was very minimal. They actually had one of my favorite which is the pork bun, which consist of dry pork onto of a bun. I also purchase some cream puff that was on the counter. When I got into my car I ate the cream puff when the filling inside was very watery. The mini coconut macaroons could have been baked a little bit longer because it tasted a little raw. I am willing to give them another try since they’ve been open for only 2 months. I’m just disappointed because their selection is some minimal and i was really to try as many items as possible.

I’ve been looking for a good nearby Chinese bakery for awhile now, and I think I found it in Star Kiwi! I usually make the trek to Mozart or H-mart for my fixing of pastries, but I’ll probably go to Star Kiwi now when I don’t want to drive. It’s a small bakery in the Asian shopping center, located right next to First Chinese BBQ. You go in, take a tray, and get the pastries you want. Simple as that. I got the Pineapple Bun, Coconut Tart, and Coconut Bread. They all look delicious, and the prices are reasonable. I only tried the Pineapple Bun so far, but it’s soft and not too sweet, which I love! I will definitely try their cakes on my next visit because they look like heaven. Come by here and try out some of their desserts after you shop at New Market or eat next door!

Skip the breads. You’ve had better. The bbq pork bun is good. But the pineapple bun and the shredded pork bun need some work. Go for the cakes. The mango mousse cake was intensely flavorful. I heard the durian one is great. That’s next for me. Upon further investigation into the bakery, it appears that star kiwi is owned by a large food corporation based in Hong Kong and they own a huge share of the dessert business in those regions. It doesn’t appear that they have a USA division or English website or even stores in California(most Asian companies will go there first) so I’m a little skeptical on why they chose to open a store in Arlington. But the store logo outside of the store, on all their shelves, cakes, wrappers etc seem to claim that they are the same company that’s in Hong Kong. If that’s true, then I am very glad that they chose this location and we are in close proximity to some authentic delicious Asian cakes. Star kiwi’s claim to fame is their«thousand layer» cakes, aka Gâteau Mille Crêpes in French, which are made of thin crepes. Sounds delicious right? I don’t see these offered in the store today but I plan on asking the owner next time.

Self serve pastry shop. The selection is very limited. I ordered the durian cake. It was actually very good, the frosting was excellent, not to sweet and not to overbearing. The mango cheesecake was not very good. It didn’t have much mango taste and it was to tart. The price was a little bit more expensive then other bakeries. I would probably only be back for the durian cake. You can find a better selection at hmart or at the bakery in 99ranch. The prices over there are much better and you get bigger portions.

I have been here 5 times since its grand opening 3 weeks ago and i love it. The place is so much cleaner than any chinese bakery around town, and the pastries are so good, I keep coming back for more. My favorite is the BBQ pork bun, unlike many i had before, the minute you bite into that pork bun, everything sort of explode in your mouth. My experience with pork bun was the porkish smell when people seasoning the meat, this one from Star Kiwi does not have that, and that’s a plus. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who love a simple pastry for breakfast. They also have cakes, will try later.

Self-serve Asian bakery, with pastries that aren’t too sweet. Once you come in, there’s an inviting shelving system there for you to grab a tray and tongs, then grab some treats. Over at the counter, there cakes: full-sized ones(I asked about a Hello Kitty one, and was told it’s $ 35, though I don’t know how it tastes since I didn’t buy one). There are also single slices of mousse cake and cake rolls too. Don’t forget to bring CASH! This place is cash only, but the pastries are cheap. Now for the sweets — I’ve had the sponge cake/Bánh bông lan, which is wrapped in paper & looks a little like a tall muffin if you’ve never had it here. It was indeed light, soft & spongy, not too sweet. Good, simple pastry done right. The chocolate mousse cake is also light & airy, and not too sweet. Just a tiny bit of cake in the layers, and tasty. I’ll be back to try more!

Freshly made baked sweets, but not too sweet. Egg custard, meat filled, cake etc. Cash only.
