Stop in! Staff is super friendly, and it’s located right in pentagon row so there’s tons of close parking. They sometimes have specials going on as well so call or stop in and ask what they have going on. Everything inside is always clean and they sell a full selection of lotions. Check it out!

I came here the other day because it seemed to be raining for a full month in VA! I was greeted by a nice young man, very helpful and made me feel confident about the package I was choosing. Some places just try to sell you to the wolves. You need that in people — you don’t want to be dealing with a robot.
The place was very clean with a plethora of towels and spray in the room in case you wanted to wipe the bed down before you tan in it. What more can you ask for in a place — good attitudes, clean place, and working machines.

The best and super convent.
I wouldn’t tan anywhere else.
In the absolute spirit that you get what you pay for — this place is worth it. Everything is so clean, the bulbs are always refreshed, and the folks are super nice (and knowledgable). If they thing you might «over expose» they’ll politely let you know, but ultimately the choice is yours.

Nice place, bought a voucher from them today and today was first time I choose them and I really like it… skin looks good after tanning!

I’ve been here a few times and have nothing but positive things to say about this place. The first time I went, Lynn helped me pick the right package for my needs. She was very helpful and discussed the options that I had before making a recommendation for me. I haven’t had many interactions with other staff, but Lynn is great! The tanning rooms and beds are spotless. Parking is shared with the other stores, so I have never had an issue with finding a space.
Overall, the place is clean, customer service is banging, and the tanning results always exceed what I expect. I’ll be coming back here for as long as I am in the DC-​NOVA area.

Very knowledgable and professional. They all seem to know there products and all the different beds. They seem to have the best recommendations for what you need. So glad I started my package here.

The normal lady who I think owns it was not there. She is always sweet and calls everyone hon, but the two ladies running it on 10−10−13 were so unbelievably rude! This will be my last time here. And tomorrow is my wedding! Thanks for being so wretched!!! You should get off your phone and actually consider customers!

I have been a Solar Planet customer for years. I HIGHLY recommend SP over other tanning salons for a few reasons … the biggest being their packages. You buy points that are good for a year (and plenty of ways for get them renewed) and you aren’t stuck paying a ton each month when you may not even want/​need to tan that month. It is economical!
The beds are fantastic, the place is clean.
Now the best part… the staff. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE there is knowledgeable and not pushy. They clearly have good management because they care and are empowered to help out clients in the best way for them.
Sad to see a few locations in NOVA have closed. But still the best game in town.

So, I’m in Arlington for a month for work and found this place by accident; it is near the hotel where I’m staying. I decided, I’m bored, why not get a tan while I’m here? The chick behind the desk, I think her name is Lynn, was sooo helpful in trying to figure out what package I should buy while I’m here. She wasn’t pushy like most tan spots, trying to sell super expensive lotions, etc., which only made me want to buy a package; I’ve since bought a mini lotion as well. Anyway, both of the chicks behind the desk, both have dark hair, I’m not sure of their names, are sooo super sweet, friendly, and helpful. They greet you when you walk in and say goodbye when you leave. They make you feel like family. I love this place. I took off one star because I’m from New York City and I’m used to the best of the best tanning beds. While their beds are above average, plentiful, and always clean, I’m used to advanced beds. There is only one «level» of beds at this Solar Planet, although, I will say that it makes it super easy when you’re buying a package. Anyway, if I lived in the area I would definitely tan here on a regular basis. Go there, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks Ladies!

The Solar Plant staff are friendly and competent. The beds are clean and the well maintained. I give them three stars due to the high prices. I realize that I am now living in a big metropolitan area, but $ 60 for 18 minutes of tanning? I am just dumbfounded by that price. But, nonetheless I am a happy enough customer to come back for more.

I just got back from purchasing a package and tanning at this location. Margaret helped me and was SO incredibly wonderful! She explained what all the knobs on the beds work (usually i play with them until i get the desired result, so this was much better) — helped debunk a few tanning myths and was just all around REALLY helpful!
I will absolutely be coming back (especially because i bought a great package, and there’s PARKING!!! [bring quarters])

This place is just great. All of the girls who work here are incredibly sweet, very knowledgeable about the products, and very helpful. Yes, they do push their products, but all employees at tanning salons do.
When I first started coming here, I was disappointed they didn’t have a stand-​up bed, but I quickly found that the beds they offer are far better than any stand-​up bed I’ve used. The girls always make sure to inform customers when the bulbs have just been changed, which I’ve never experienced at other salons. I’ve burned really badly at other salons when I wasn’t informed that the bulbs had just been changed. It’s great they keep track of this and adjust tanning times for customers.
There is barely ever a line here (I used to tan at Palm Beach Tanning in Alexandria and found myself waiting 30 – 45 minutes to tan every day). There’s usually never a wait for a bed here.
Yes, the parking can be a pain depending upon the time of day. The parking lot tends to be packed during lunch time and in the evenings. If you can tan at another time, I’d recommend doing that. But the parking is free for the first hour, so that’s a plus. And honestly, even when the parking lot is packed, generally if you drive around for a couple minutes, you’ll find someone leaving a spot.
My only issue with this place is the prices. I moved to DC from northeast Ohio, where the cost of living is lower and the tanning industry is HUGE. Since the cost of living is more expensive here and the tanning industry isn’t nearly as big here as it is in Ohio (thus less competition), I’m paying a lot more to tan than I ever imagined that I would. But overall it’s worth it. This is about the fourth tanning salon I have tried in the DC area, and it is by far the best.

I’m a huge Solar Planet fan. I used to frequent this location often however because it’s sooo popular and parking flat out sucks, I find myself going to the location in Virginia Square/​Ballston area.
What’s great about this location vs other is they have a little more selection of beds to chose from. I love to mix and match my tanning! :-) Friendly staff although at times they can be a bit pushy on the lotion sales. Honestly all you need is a good moisturizer and a bronzer. Just keep your skin moisturized at all times as moisturized skin tans better.
