If you want chicken fried steak for breakfast this is the place !!! Real hand battered steak not something frozen out of a box. Killer hash browns cooked to perfection every time I’ve been in. Very consistent. Service is lightning fast !!! Great value. It’s a family owned and operated independent diner and has tons of regulars. Susan waited on me and she is very sweet and efficient. This place rocks !!! Check it out !!!

This is a hidden gem. A place you’d probably pass by and not think twice. This isn’t a flashy place but it’s definitely worth the stop. Don’t wait to be seated, walk in and find a spot, they see you and will be at your table before you know it. They ensure you coffee is filled at all times. The menu isn’t complicating and it’s very inexpensive. The service is friendly and warm, very nice staff. The food is made fresh to order and was out pretty quickly. I got the ½ special and it was more than enough food– they even offer turkey bacon! I suggest stopping here as I will be back for sure!

Older place with older clientele but it was very clean and the waitress was great. My son got a breakfast and I got the chicken fried chicken lunch special. The food was very good, and we couldn’t eat it all! This was our first visit and we definitely be going back to the Skillet and Grill!

This restaurant is the one to put on your regular list. The only downside is they are not open for dinner! My husband and I come as often as our schedules allow. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. They give so much food for the price we almost always take doggie bags. I have had breakfast and lunch specials and soon plan to add the burgers or steak to my list. I just can never seem to get past their wonderful breakfasts. Every employee acts like they want to be there and that your satisfaction is their goal. You will be given enough coffee to keep yourself awake for a week. Go. Enjoy.

This place has such great reviews that I just had to see for myself. One late morning my husband & I showed up starving. The building is old with such character I wish the walls could talk. I almost asked the waitress but decided not, after all my obsession with old buildings isn’t something everyone shares. I could tell… actually feel from the vibe that this place was full of regulars. The employees were so genuine and caring. I felt like we we’re out of town somewhere instead of 5 minutes from our house. The food was absolutely delicious!!! My waffle was PERFECT! Everything was scrumptious! I can’t wait to come back again! This place is worth the drive if you are coming a distance so come see for yourself like I did.

Don’t come here for décor. Come here for warm, filling, comfort food at breakfast and great waitresses. My coffee cup never went empty for more than a minute. As soon as our waitress realized I drink my coffee with a good bit of cream, she brought a heaping saucer of creamers to me. My pancake was fluffy and good. The skillet special omelette was awesome. The biscuit and gravy was amazing. I needed a nap afterwards but this place is just very comforting. The skillet is what an amazing little diner should be: Kitschy décor, great staff, friendly waitresses that are always on the ball, and ample comfort food. Would I go back? yes. yes i will.

Excellent down home cooking. SUPER friendly service. Prices are very reasonable but that is compared to CA prices I’ll say again– great service

For the price it’s danktastic. Service is great as well as the size of the menu. I had the skillet combo. Atmosphere is so friendly. The price for two people was $ 20 with everything very nice.

I was optimistic about skillet grill. The staff is very friendly and place has a nice ‘community gathering’ feel. The eggs and hash browns my companion ordered looked ok(hash browns we a little under cooked). However, I made the mistake of ordering the open-faced roast beef and gravy with mashed potatoes. The roast beef served was sandwich slices(?!) suspended in a very salty, thick congealed(obviously canned) gravy. Honestly, if this is how they serve an open faced roast beef sandwich, it would be better to just take that off the menu. It was bizarre and not good at all. I wanted to appreciate the good vibes and inexpensive prices but, for me the food quality needs to hit a minimum standard and with what I ordered, that, unfortunately, was not the case.

This is my Go-To breakfast place. Don’t be surprised if the waitstaff calls you by name and remembers your order the next time you visit. Not to mention very reasonably priced food. Can’t go wrong with the Skillet n Grill combo.

Food was really good. There was a line out the door so I figured it must be good when a man leaving said don’t give up it’s so with it. The prices were great and the service was wonderful. Doesn’t look like much but it’s wonderful!!!

I loved the women who worked here, they were so nice and friendly and kept my water and coffee filled, which is always my biggest pet peeve at a restaurant. Huge portions for really good price. I got a veggie omelet, two biscuits, and a pancake for around $ 7. Biscuits were pretty good, enjoyed the veggie omelet and all the salsas/hot sauces they offered. Pancakes were not great, a little rubbery and not very fluffy. The restaurant itself could use some tidying up.

It’s standard café food and it’s pretty good. However, it is a very family run place. That means they could have their kids running around. Once a waitress left her phone by us which kept ringing with some booty music. She silenced it once but didn’t bother to turn the ringer off. So of course it kept happening.

I have been here a few times and I have never had bad service, everyone is very friendly and they take care of you! The food is great also! The prices are very reasonable! If you order bacon, they give you a big portion! Who can argue with that or not like this place!!! :)

Love this place. It’s my main stay. The food is always good, the prices are hard to beat, and the serving sizes are extremely generous. They will make almost anything custom for you if they have the ingredients, or happily modify anything on the menu to order. They serve lunch and breakfast at any time so burgers for breakfast, or breakfast for lunch are all good. Also love that my cup never gets empty. Family owned. Very small diner feel. Ask for Susan or Tori.

Greasy spoon with great service. The prices are excellent and the food is average to above-average. Nice little diner feel. It is exactly what it’s supposed to be and does a good job of it. It’s in that strange little part of Division where the west and south is used cars and shady garages, the north in Interlochen, and the east is nothing. Brings in an interesting crowd. I usually go for an sausage and cheese omelette, hash browns, and a coffee. The hash browns are done pretty well. They serve lunch as well, but as with most places, I end up settling in on one or two menu items and rarely straying. Wait staff is fun and they understand my need to consume all of their coffee. This is also a great place to eat while you’re waiting on your car to be fixed at T&T just up Bowen.

Skillet & Grill precisely symbolizes Arlington: working class, humble, and simple. The prices are low, and you can fill up on a variety of greasy spoon grub. No, this is not a deep South cheddar grits and country ham kind of joint. Nor is it a country Texas chicken fried steak and biscuit sort of establishment. The offerings here revolve around the Waffle House-style fare, ranging from eggs and hash browns to well… eggs and bacon. It sticks to the basics, and I think it is better for that. You get in, get out, with great service, to boot. The grub sits heavy, to your benefit. I went with a few morning staples to make sure I got the most important meal of the day in my gut before sitting on my tail all day, not really digesting the aforementioned items. The damage? $ 5.23. A drop in the bucket compared to what it will do to my gut. The biscuit was very mediocre. It provided more of a dinner roll tug rather than the typical biscuit crumble and flakiness. Even if it was fall-apart crumbly, it still would have been more appetizing as a biscuit. The gravies were OK; the normal was creamy, but the sausage one could have had a better ratio of sausage to the milk, flour, and butter concoction. Hash browns are a measuring stick for a diner. You cannot really rely on eggs because no matter how overcooked they are, they will still taste like normal eggs, unless burnt. Furthermore, if you undercook eggs on the griddle(assuming they are not tainted), then all the better! I love runny eggs. Now… let us consider how they fared as a «skillet and grill» eatery. The potato sticks were soft, but very bland. There was minimal crustage, which is actually one of my favorite aspects about breakfast off of a(probably) unsanitary cooktop. I like my hash BROWN and my taters SALTY. Oh, well. I will probably go back, mostly because it is probably the closest place to get eggs, hasbrowns, and chicken fried steak. Will I probably find something better on the menu? Likely. Thus, I will return to the good ol’ Skillet & Grill. After all, Arlington is home.

$ 18.74 for two Parking: private lot The glass door upon entering: has a car for sale photocopy? Furniture: cheap old fashioned«PLASTIC» booths Tv: didn’t see one Wifi: No! They should at least offer this since the food is horrible! Water: not too bad, but we drink filtered water Service: decent and friendly, but at the end of the meal a young man in long khaki shorts and black jersey and baseball cap was toting a coffee pot and I «assumed» he was a part of the establishment since he had the coffee pot other wise I would not have seen the connection of him to the restaurant. They need to quickly get him an acceptable«uniform» to tote that coffee pot. I think his family is the owner. Food: Bacon: They need to invest in a decent quality bacon. The bacon– approx 4 strips of salty, crispy, stale, acidic kind of flavor. I use an iron skillet at home for almost everything. I don’t know what they use? They should get an Oscar Mayer hickory smoke type bacon. This would be a memorable flavor. Egg: I had them put(2) tablespoons of milk, onion, jalapenos, and cheese. They should’ve grilled the onions to a golden brown prior to adding them to the eggs. They just sliced a raw white onion into the eggs? The jalapenos were from a can. They should’ve used fresh jalapenos. I did not eat the egg mixture. As a matter of fact I boxed the entire meal and brought it home, then trashed it! Hash browns: heavy lingering cheap greasy flavor. The potatoes were not crispy. They were white and warm Waffle: large and I am heating it in the oven w/butter and Log Cabin syrup on it to see if it has any value. It doesn’t! It just has a flour taste. They need to use a buttermilk recipe for the waffle and perhaps offer fresh blueberries for the waffle. Condiments: They use Hunt’s ketchup not Heinz. The«margarine» is sitting in sealed containers on the table. They should use butter. This would greatly add to the flavor of the food. My recommendation: This owner should figure out if he wants to sell cars or food. He should«shut it down» and re-open w/a fresh look and good quality recipes. He is trying to offer ribeye steak, omelet, waffles, etc. He should shrink this menu to where he can exercise«quality» control. Get a water service w/filtered water. He should break his neck to offer some fresh fruit to add to waffles or offer on the side. I would rather be offered(5) excellently prepared dishes than(6) pages of inedible food.
