I’d like to start off by saying that I probably wouldn’t enter this place if I was just driving by as it looks a bit sketchy on the outside, it didn’t even look like it was an operating restaurant! However, after coming here, I will most definitely be back. We ordered the clam in black bean sauce, beef on sizzling plate, orange beef and salt and pepper squid. The clam was delicious, it came with a ton of clams that were a good size! I’m usually iffy about ordering clam since they tend to shrink a lot and there’s barely any left, but this one was quite satisfying. The beef on sizzling plate was very good, really flavorful and tender. It kinda reminded me of bo luc lac. The orange beef was good but it didn’t really taste like«orange __» it was more like sesame beef without the sesame seeds but it tasted good. The salt and pepper squid wasn’t great though. It wasn’t that crispy and a bit bland. I’d come back for all the other 3 dishes though! Overall, a great experience, they were nice enough to provide us with pickled veggies as well and rice was free. Delicious food, generous portions and good price. :) Much better than 1st chinese bbq!

My to go spot once in a while if I’m craving for Chinese foods! We usually ordered the same things every time we went here. Mi xao gion(crispy noodle), shrimp balls, orange beef, fried tofu in hot plate, canh chua. All is good and consistent. Service is better than other Chinese restaurant in the area,

The nostalgia is strong here, as is the MSG(I have no real proof of that other than a queasy feeling). I was just here earlier this week and I’m sad to see how poor the quality of the food has become and subsequently how abandoned it is. In its heyday, Bat Dat hosted weddings almost every weekend and had families spilling out the doors while waiting on a table to open up. But that was over a decade ago and time has not been kind to this place. Orange beef is still crispy and scrumptious but after leaving, I realized they forgot the pickled veggies on all four orders. When my cousin scooped up 6 clams from another entrée, 5 were empty. We assumed they’d all be at the bottom but there were only a couple. Salt and pepper pork was better than the s & p squid. All the noodle dishes were just ok. I just remember them being so much better, but I have to give it props for staying alive. If you need to host a large party without reservations, the space and service here will be virtually all yours!

This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall; bad atmosphere… And delicious food. What can I say? Despite the interior I find myself loving this place. You get a lot of GOOD food for the price. The crispy noodles with sauce on top and char Siu are good. We also ordered the water spinach(off the menu) and it was great! The crispy tofu with shrimp on sizzling platter is good, but a little gingery for my taste. The best dish is the Mongolian beef on sizzling platter. Only dish that is lacking is the dry as dust Kung pao chicken. I’ve ordered it twice because I thought at first it was a mistake but after ordering it a second time, I know they make it dry on purpose. It is beyond tender and delicious! Additionally the food comes out piping hot! Will come back many times!

I don’t know why some people swear by this place. Maybe because it’s what they ate first and the childhood memories are just too much, but in my opinion there’s nothing mind blowing about Ocean Chinese Seafood Restaurant. It’s good yes, but it’s not mind-blowing.

I’ve been coming here for the past 20 years, yes, that’s a 2 to the 0! This started out as a go-to place to take the parents out for dinner when they’re in town to a weekly ritual(at one point) among us siblings. The interior is out-dated and quite run down now. Luckily my parents don’t mind this! The food is what brings you back. It’s stays the same and I should know. Did I mention I’ve been coming here for the past 20 years? ;-) Favorite dishesssss include orange beef, combination fire pot, beef chow fun(no gravy), happy family, shrimp balls, fish clay pot, salt and pepper squid, and oyster sizzling plate. I’m probably leaving a few others out. The food is authentic and delicious. You leave with your tummies full and your soul warm.

9:22 pm. 12/31/2015. NY eve 2015 and this was the last stop after calling all around Arlington trying to get delivery. I’m so thankful I found it. The food porn looked so good I decided I had to go get it. And physically, in person. Thankfully, I got a hold of a cousin willing to drive me out there. Score! I ordered based on foodporn. Unilocaler Amanda S. posted a photo of lobster with ginger and scallions. The photo she posted was for the incorrect Chinese restaurant.(I think) Based on her photo, I had to have that lobster! Walking into Ocean’s Chinese, I knew I’d made the right decision. The lobster entrée was on every table. There were many Asian groups sharing plates of food. Every entrée I’d ordered is what every table top contained. Another tasty looking dish was the sizzling plate of Mongolian beef with pork and onions. Definitely next time. My order consisted of: Lobster with ginger and scallions. Orange chicken. Fried noodles with chicken and vegetables.(I don’t know which entrée this was. They ran out of flat noodle and said they would improvise.) Shrimp fried rice Potstickers and a few egg rolls. I requested they make a few of these spicy. The lobster is market price and that night it was $ 40 something before taxes. Grossly overpriced if you ask me. The lobster was a juvenile size. I’ve never seen a tail that small served in this style before.(I’m sure prices were up because of the holiday)(I ordered the same entrée in Chinatown Chicago a few weeks back and it was around $ 20/lobster) It’s almost pointless(to order small tails) unless you like throwing whole pieces of lobster in your mouth and eat like a shark crunching down on everything. Still, the idea of it was properly executed and the entrée was tasty. The small quantity of «sauce» composed of ginger and scallions made a nice compliment to dip the lobster meat into. Although some parts were overcooked. The restaurant is a dump. It’s dismal and could use some tender love and care. A fresh application of paint and Mr Clean products would do it some good as well. The venue isn’t appealing but if having the chance to see it busied with customers. I’m sure the sight would cause any foodie some curiosity. As my NYE meal, it was a great choice and I’m thankful that«it» didn’t work out with the other take outs I’d called earlier that day. Everything I ordered was yummy and tasty. The leftovers only made it to the following lunch hour and it was gone. =(When back in the area, I’d definitely consider trying more of their items.

The place is a bit divey and run-down, but the food is so good. I had the curry noodles which were amazing. The service was to-the-point, but attentive. Not rude, but not friendly either. I asked for a coffee with milk and she brought me back a Vietnamese coffee. I was so shocked because it wasn’t on the menu, but it was the best Vietnamese coffee I’ve had in a while. I’d definitely order carry-out though.

I’m giving this place 4 stars in comparison to the competition to actual Chinese food in the area. The meats here are good quality. I got the Sizzling Chicken, that’s like Chinese fajitas and come out on a firing hot skillet. It is delicious and only $ 8. Large pieces of white meat chicken, just the breasts and a tangy hunan style sauce with onions and peppers. You can tell this is where the Chinese residents go to get their food. They have the round tables with the traditional Chinese setup for sharing. The food here is authentic, not Americanized Chinese basics. They do have those for lunch though for only $ 5.50! That’s so ridiculously cheap for what you get! I cannot express enough my enjoyment of the food, but the building itself is really run down and needs remodeling. No ambiance here! If Chinese food places would just paint it red, put some lanterns up, and an aquarium that would be all that’s needed. These places try to be American in the décor and it’s not what people want when heading East for Chinese. I want to feel like I’m in China when I go eat the food, even if it’s in a little shack. I will continue to do pick-up here because the surroundings take away from the dining experience. For delivery Royal Panda is the best food, and I would say this place is 2nd on my list. It’s #1 in Arlington in terms of variety for authentic specifically Chinese. You can expect a huge menu of dishes for great prices with HUGE portions. A couple can split and eat here for $ 4 a piece. That’s what I’m talking about :)!!!

I had lunch here today with my daughter and niece. Is was empty when we got there so I had my doubts. If you order a soda they give you a can and a glass of ice. No big deal. I ordered the sizzling Mongolian beef and pork. «I posted a video» It was delicious! The sauce was great, the beef and pork were tender and flavorful and when you mix it with some steamed rice. I’m drooling already! My daughter and niece both ordered the chicken lo mein. It was a lot of noodles and chicken and vegetables. Both plates were empty when it was all said and done. My daughter likes a little bit of teriyaki sauce on steamed rice but they don’t have teriyaki sauce here so the waiter brought her the sauce they make beef and broccoli with. That was really good also. Now I’m not saying your going to have the same experience as we did but I will definitely be back to this restaurant when I’m in the Dfw area.

Low prices, huge portions of food, and fast polite service. I would recommend a to go order as the place is faded, cracked, and crumbling with age. My spicy vegetable fried rice was rather bland, so I can only assume spicy dishes aren’t their forte. However, it was very filling.

Came here for an after-wedding celebratory dinner. Food was good, legit Chinese food. Service was also really nice. We didn’t have vinegar for our soup, so the waitress went in the back and brought us a whole new bottle. Waters never went empty. True, this place is a little run down, but aren’t the most authentic restaurants that way?

I would always remember coming here for special occasions back in the day where it wasn’t so dirty and actually clean! I’ve been going here since I was 7! And I still love the food ! The only bad thing is that they need to redo the place and add new furniture because the seats are rip and tape backed up. Sometimes the plates and bowl are dirty. But the food is just so amazingly delicious! We always get the family style plates like orange beef, crispy combo noodles, fried lobster, shrimp balls and hot and sour fish soup! All of which are so good! Service isn’t bad either! I will continue on going here because the food had always been A++ for me!

First time I’ve been there, and was really glad to have discovered it! My friends and I ordered a variety of different dishes, and really enjoyed having them served family style on the rotating center disk in the table. We enjoyed a variety including duck, pork, chicken, beef, rice, lo mien, dumplings… Huge portions, delicious sauces, and perfectly cooked food. We all enjoyed the experience, and as usual enjoyed each other’s company. We came away with a huge stack of take-out boxes because it just was too much food and I’m looking forward to having a variety of food for the next few days. Other reviews have remarked that the restaurant itself is kind of worn, and in some ways a bit shabby … I can’t deny that. They’ve been there for 30 years, and it looks like they haven’t redecorated for at least 20 of those. However, while the furnishings may have been old they were very clean and the service was cheerful, prompt, and the staff absolutely took care of us in a professional way. While there were plenty of empty tables, it is a huge space, and there were several large parties as well as a few couples enjoying dinner while we were there … as well as people dropping in for take out. Clearly it is a popular spot, and the food was definitely worth finding this place. It is so nice to actually experience and a Chinese restaurant that is not a buffet. The difference in how fresh the food tastes is incredible.

Been in 20 years go when I was a kid. Now I am a fat adult, still here; still good. Just like yesterday. This place is for food. If u want ambience, this place is not for you.

This place has been around for quite some time. They definitely need a renovation since the inside is a bit old and run down. It’s spacious but the dim lighting makes the plate seems dull. However, service is great. Every time I dine in, it’s always empty inside so never a problem to find seating. Most people prefer ordering to-go. Recommendations: Vietnamese style fish fire pot Seafood pan fried noodles(chow mein) Clams in black bean sauce Sizzling tofu

Really great restaurant that has been here since I was a kid. The food has consistently been good, and I always encourage people to come here when they’re in the mood for some authentic Chinese food. Environment: The location isn’t exactly the most glamorous, but it does have matching chairs and the typical fish tank and murals on the walls. It’s a bit run down looking, but don’t let that deceive you. The owners here are super friendly and are multilingual(I wouldn’t worry about language barriers), as I believe they can speak English, Chinese, and Vietnamese… possibly more. There’s also dish specials written on the board behind the cash register counter. Food: The food has always been consistent here. My family used to go more often when I was a kid, but we stopped as I grew older(and there were more Chinese restaurants popping up). I started coming back the last few years and it was always a pleasant experience to find that the food was just as good as when I was 7 or 8 years old. I usually order the combination fried rice. Portion size is very generous and they don’t skimp out on the«combination» part of the fried rice. My boyfriend always has us get orange chicken or the pepper beef. I love the pepper beef here because it’s not like other Chinese restaurants; it’s actually pieces of crunchy beef with a dry pepper rub(not the gross kind with corn starch and green bell peppers). I’ve never had an issue with anything ordered here because I’ve had nearly everything on the menu and liked them all. Highly recommend to those looking for authentic Chinese in Arlington. I also have to note that I love how you can call ahead of time and order for a pick up. They do a great job of making sure that your order gets out on time. I often choose to pick up, and I’m usually in the restaurant and out the door in less than 5 minutes.

Blast from the past. I remember coming here as a kid with family and friends. Today the flavors hasn’t changed and the food is still deserving of all 5 stars. The only caveat is that the restaurant hasn’t been updated for many years, the furniture is still the same after two decades or more but I’m fine with all of this. There is nothing formal about this place now as it once stood as the place to go back in its days. Expect a little inconvenience from old décor to old everything else. Overall I like the nostalgic feeling of being here again with family and the food is still the same as I first remember.
