Food and service here USED to be good, but it has gone so downhill to the point that longtime regulars steer clear from this location. So far as the food is concerned, I don’t know if they changed cooks or what, but the food is now heavily salty to the point that it’s even difficult to digest without chugging water after every bite. This goes for all dishes, from kabobs to stews. As for employees/management, there is this very strange employee named«Daryoush», who oddly enough is the manager. He is extremely rude to customers and insults them with bizarre comments. His behavior is downright inappropriate and inexcusable. Unfortunately I have seen him exhibit this type of behavior on more than one occasion. Surprised that such a person has employment in a managerial position. Guess Moby Dick got desperate and can’t find suitable managers.

I’d always steered away from Moby Dick to an experience with one in Boston that seems to be unrelated to the chain here. But I was craving kabob, and this was the closest place to me. I’m clearly not expecting gourmet Persian cuisine, so what you get is good for a take-out place. I ordered chicken kabob with rice, salad, pita, and an herb mixture. The pita was extremely lackluster and I wouldn’t waste my calories again. Kabob and rice were tasty enough, and the chicken was not dry, which is appreciated. Salad was super fresh, as was the herb mixture. I’d not rush here, but I wouldn’t veto it either.

Mobys are a great choice if you value high quality food at the right price. If you want to eat healthy go for the chicken kebab salad. If you order a kebob dish with rice, ask them to not add butter to shave off the calories. Those on strict diets will have a difficult time a staying away from the fresh baked bread which is delicious! Note food may be on the salty side so you may want to ask the cashier.

Good clean restaurant on Highland St with Washington Blvd address in Clarendon area. I dropped in for tea & cake. Moby Dick version is Persian dark Tea & Rolett their version of thin sponge cake. Being a Desi I asked for milk or cream to add to my tea. No milk or cream here. I was disappointed to hear that. I minus 2 star & granted them 3 stars only because the host/cashier man friendliness & politeness. Found out only chicken & lamb is halal to eat but beef is still western style kill. While I was there I saw many orders from EAT24. Busy place. Non-stop phone calls. I hope they get good living wage for the help here.

Online menu offered a salmon kebab. When it came it was not salmon, maybe swordfish. It was awful. I sent a note in through the restaurant’s website but never received a response. I won’t order from here again.

Everything we ordered tasted really good. They gave a good sized portion for everything and it all came out pretty quickly.

Hmm — I’ve been to Moby Dicks in DC on a weekly basis so I expected the same quality but unfortunately it was not :(. The Yogurt sauce was a lot more watery and overall the flavor was ok. I would recommend the Moby Dick near Dupont as opposed to this one.

Great place for a mid-week take home dinner. We usually go for Combo 2 which is excellent. My kids love it as well. I’ve been recently getting spicy chicken with spicy green sauce, my favorite thus far. Place is clean, staff is friendly, although we usually pick up of have the food delivered.

Took 15 minutes to get my food when there were no waiting customers. Taste of veggie kabob was bland although the selection of veggies was good. White sauce was okay. Every other kabob place I have been to you also get a side of spinach or chick peas but not here. Only bread, rice and veggies. Didn’t like it.

Not great but good kabobs. Meat wasn’t dry but could be seasoned better. To go wait time was at 15 minutes. It’s a bit pricey for the amount you get but also keep in mind it is a chain. I’d say throw in 2 – 3 pieces of each meat and it would be worth it. Would I go back? Yes. Would I try other options… also yes.

My first time coming here will definitely be my last. The food was okay tasting, but way over priced for what you get. All the fountain drinks were watered down, like the Pepsi had no fizz and was also overpriced. So basically don’t go there unless you have to.

I’ve only heard by mouth that this place was good but maybe it’s the location. I ordered a gyro sandwich for delivery and it came with the meat dry and on thick soggy pita :( I’ve taken gyros togo before and have not had a problem with the pita getting soggy.

Started off w a garden salad which didn’t look that great to begin with then I noticed all the wilted n brown spotted lettuce so I didn’t eat that We ordered the filet kabob n the ground beef kabob Both were overcooked and tough I drowned the meat in the cucumber salad dressing to get pat the dryness The grilled tomatoes were really good along w the pita bread Total waste of 40+ dollars

The problem is with this place is that it’s a rip off. The food isn’t bad but it’s pretty much just rice and a couple meat pieces. I can make the same thing in my kitchen without paying 15 $. I like the guys who work here though. Wish I could write a favorable review but the value just isn’t good enough for what you pay.

This place is totally gross. You should see how undercook and pink the meat was. By the time they delivered my food and came back to pick it up, all the other places that delivered were closed. I’m glad they gave me a refund.

Our go-to for a quick kabob over rice or salad. Usually call ahead and my meal is ready in 10 mins. Perfectly cooked and seasoned, and portions are generous! The butter/saffron infused rice is great on a day when you deserve some carbs. Otherwise the salad comes with black olives, feta, and pepperchinis. Bread is usually warm and pairs deliciously with the yogurt sauce. Ask for the«green sauce» if you are feeling spicy — it will add some punch to your meal!

Moby Dick is exactly what you would expect. Pretty good food, prepared relatively quickly. The only thing preventing Moby Dick from a 4th star is the price. If you get any of the combos which are the size of a regular meal expect to spend upwards of $ 15. Moby Dick is a good place for locals to pickup solid, Americanized mid-eastern food.

Good food for a chain. Can place a take out order and pick it up ten minutes later. Food is good and filling.

We are always in here!(This one is right smack in the middle of Clarendon and we LOVE it!!!) There are so few places where the food is delicious AND nutritious as in Moby Dick’s House of Kabob. Nothing cuter than watching little ones eat heartily and voraciously, everyone is happy at MDHoK. The chicken, naan, beef, Moby Melt, gigantic salads, etc are cooked perfectly and portioned just right. If you want to indulge they offer desserts but basically the entrees are the center of this universe. Come in and chat up Darius, Ayde and company about the platters, Persian food and beverages and become a regular, it’s not hard. They will make you feel right at home and sooooo full of good food!

I have to reupdate my review, based on the food we recently ordered in from Moby Dick. I’ve been to several other Moby Dick locations before and have even ordered delivery from the other locations, but the food from the Moby Dick at the Clarendon location is not as great when delivered. A few weeks ago, my bf and I wanted to eat some Persian food in honor of the Persian New Year and decided to order in from Moby Dick. The food took a long time to be delivered(over an hour), and in the end, it was really, really dry. While the portions were generous, as always, the bread was sadly DRY. So dry that it tasted like rubber and I could barely chew or gulp it down. The kabob was a little bit better, but still not as fresh as I would have liked it. Last year, we both visited the restaurant in Clarendon and I enjoyed it, but the delivery was just an entirely different experience. I wouldn’t write this location off entirely based on this experience, but I think I would rather eat at the restaurant and not do delivery in the future.
