Mijo’s used to be one of my favorite places but now I avoid it! The food’s always been good, but the service has started to be a little lacking. The last few times we’ve gone, we’ve had to remind servers to get our drinks(if we ordered beer, etc) because they’d forgotten. And it wasn’t because the place was busy or anything. Hope their service gets better soon!

I’m sad to report the Mijo’s location in southwest Arlington has closed. They have other locations — and said they pulled out of the Arlington location over much higher rent. They said they were shopping other available spaces in the area and hoped to have a new home in the same part of town soon. I’ll update more when I know more. Meantime, they’ll be missed and we will visit the Pantego location.

I used to love this place but since they moved the quality of the food and salsa bar have diminished. Sadly, we gave it several chances and won’t go back.

Disappointing Mexican food. Rave reviews from friends set up a disappointing visit. Food was ok but overpriced. Bar scene was a bit strange due to the layout. Not really a restaurant but not a bar either. Eating area was messy and smelled strange. Salsa bar was the best part.

I’m not sure exactly what it is but I sense something is negitive going on with this place. We visit this place once a month for drinks and it just seems like our experience declines every time we visit. For some reason this place is going through a lot of bartenders and the outside of the building is embarrassing. They have a pretty nice weed garden going at the front entrance. I hope this place figures things out cause we used to enjoy visiting here. But something is missing now

Place is not clean, fancy salsa bar was old salsa and empty. The people at the bar are loud and the conversation isn’t good for kids. People are drunk. The floor is dirty. Food was NOT40.00 Worth.

This was my families first time here. We went because we had a groupon and like to try new places. First we were not greeted at all when we entered. We noticed that you order at the front counter but the menus are hiding on a side wall. They brought are food and it looked OK. I ordered salmon tacos which needed more seasoning. my husband ordered steak fajitas and he said they were good. But here comes the bad part They were moving tables and chairs around. Ran two ladies from where they were setting. We would not have minded but they were sliding them back and forth across the floor, not picking them up. So it was really loud and annoying while you are trying to eat. Not once did they check to see if we needed anything. Then in order to leave we had to move chairs out of our way. So overall food is OK only if you have a group on is it worth it. Customer service is awful!!!

Wasn’t great, wasn’t awful. Just kind of average. The bar area was really loud while we were there which was a big turn off for me. I won’t be making any more stops here.

I’d been there before and loved it! Monday lunch was disappointing to say the least. It was during lunch rush, and there were a few guests eating, but it wasn’t crowded. The restaurant was dirty! I hesitated staying, but we did. There were several dirty empty tables, the floor was sticky, the help seemed uninterested in helping us at all. The food was mediocre at best. I will not recommend Mijos at all. Disappointed :(

Well… let me just say I rarely(extremely rarely) send food back, but I did today. I ordered some beef nacho plate for lunch, and what arrived was a tepid pile of tortilla chips with a sparse amount of taco meat sloshed on top, and the whole mess was sitting on watery queso. Gosh. I’ve pretty much given up eating goopy slush, except maybe after a bender, so I took it back. The nice way they handled the problem pulled this review up from one star to 3. They replaced it with an acceptable taco plate and did it in a very polite manner. Possum Spouse had shredded beef enchiladas that were tasty but not all that spectacular. The refried black beans and the rice were fine. We knew beforehand that we’d have to pay for the chips, which is silly in Texas, but whatever. They were crispy. The salsas did not light my fire. So: Overall grade = C Would I return? Would I recommend this joint to someone else? = Not likely Am I going to badmouth them to one and all? Nope. Some people love the place, and perhaps on a different day we might have had a 4 star experience.

A lot of people have mixed feelings on this place, and I was very skeptical at first myself. But it is is two minute drive from my house, so I had to try. I have been back many times since. This is not traditional Tex-Mex, they do a bit of Asian fusion and experiment with coastal Mexican as well. First off, the hot sauce is really fantastic. Obviously home-made, and while not incredible spicy, it is very flavorful and there is a variety to choose from. For the entrée, I get Jose’s Plate, which has a spinach enchilada, cheese enchilada dressed in red and green(New Mexico style), and a chicken enchilada. It comes with the slaw, which is pretty good, but I prefer their black refried beans and the rice is well done. My husband loves the brisket tacos, which I’ve had as well, and they are really quite excellent. This place is cheap, convenient, and just a little different. They’re not stingy with the alcohol either, which is always a plus.

excellent«coastal mexican», I guess I will call it. My wife and I split a wonderful chicken soup, chips with Poblano salsa, chicken and blanco cheese nachos, as well as a Danial’s platre(highly receommended) — fish taco, chicken, black bean+rice tostada, nopalito chutney, and lime and cilantro– fused slaw *** I am planning another visit already

Been to Mijo’s before and the food was usually okay. This time we ordered the steak fajitas and seafood paella. The fajitas is decent, the grilled vegetable was flavorful. What really motivates me to write this review is the paella, or should I say the alleged paella. First of all, it was not served in a paella pans(which makes me think it was not cooked to order in a paella pan like it should, maybe they just microwave it?). When it was served I had to verify with the server if that was indeed the paella I ordered. Second, the«paella» was so wet it was more like rice in bouillabaisse than anything else. The flavor was okay but I was expecting paella. What a huge disappointment. By the way, I also got mouthful of broken mussel shells. Yikes.

Really good, not Tex-Mex food. Ate there 6:30 on a sat and it was slammed. Took a little longer to get our food than we would have liked but not noticeable except we had somewhere else to be. Food was excellent. I’ve been to the park row location dozens of times so I’m really glad the Arlington location is as good as the original. We will return.

The food was pretty good, the margaritas were a little pricey but tasty. The special of the day was Carnitas and they were Excellent. A little small but wasn’t packed when we went. For being right down the road I will definitely be back to the place.

I’ve eaten at this location three times now, after years of enjoying their other location on Pioneer Pkwy. I don’t know what they’re doing differently at this one, but whatever it is, it’s bad. The good: Ummm… it’s close to my house, and they have several varieties of salsa. The bad: Even though they’ve been free with every order for years, they now charge extra for chips and salsa if you don’t order at least three entrees. Most recently my girlfriend and I shared the white cheese chicken nachos and some tamales. The nachos were okay, nothing to write home about really. The cheese was pretty bland. The real problem was the tamales. When they finally arrived at our table, 10 minutes after the nachos, they were dried out and hard as a rock, as though they’d been reheated several times. I’d blame it on being under a heat lamp all day if it weren’t for the fact that we ate there in the early afternoon. What it comes down to is this: if you’ve never eaten here, don’t go to this location. Go to the one on Pioneer. It’s consistently tastier and friendlier.

Despite being the same chain the food just isn’t the same. The fish tacos were very good but the Tacos Al Pastor were overcooked, crunchy and had no flavor unless you dressed your taco with salsa, onions and a dash of freshly squeezed lime. The rice was under cooked and the black beans, which are usually excellent at the Pioneer location, were too dry. Ordered queso for the kids and I’m not even sure what was wrong with it but the kids didn’t lap it up like usual. Not a lot of seating for a busy night and this location is probably best without children. Half the location is the bar so not a lot of options for families with small children on a weekend night. Next time, we’ll drive a little further up to the Pioneer location and LOVE the food!

I’ve been hearing about how good their fish tacos were so I was super excited to try them. We were in the Arlington area and decided to stop by. I ordered the fish tacos and the rest of my family ordered something else. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with my tacos. They were bland and were on the small side. The rice and beans were OK but not enough. I guess for the price I was expecting more food. I will say my hubby’s food was delicious. I think he ordered beef chimichanga and the meat was very tasty and well seasoned. So even though I didn’t enjoy my food very much I will be back and give this place another try based on my hubby’s food and plus the service there was good. Hopefully I will be impressed next time so I can give it a better rating. :)

Awesome Mexican Food… superior ingredients and quality. The part owner is often there and is very friendly… the food is a mixture of classic Mexican dishes and a «healthy California style» Mexican fusion. My wife is pure blood Mexican and she will tell you both how hard it is to find good authentic Mexican food here in the DFW area AND how great the food is at Mijo’s. Do yourself a favor and try it out… I doubt you will be disappointed. The salsa bar has not only 3 different types of Salsa, but also freshly chopped onions, cilantro and Jalapenos for adding a little special flavor to your salsa. The only reason I did not give this restaurant 5 stars is that the semi-brainless(or asleep?) staff behind the counter that take your order often tend to screw up my orders and are sometimes so focused on entering the food that they ignore you and tend to come off very rude. To me it seems like someone whose job is to do this should be able to react to conversation… but I get the feeling some of the staff are chosen for their looks rather than their intelligence, and are not the sharpest tools in the shed. Despite the semi-retarded order takers, the food is incredible. Also the part-owner is hardworking, dedicated, and friendly.

Service — Order at counter, they bring to your table Food — 2 Stars and 4 Stars Mural on side of Building — 4 Stars Sometimes, families have issues on which they cannot agree. For harmony’s sake, you have to learn to live with these little disagreements. Mijos Fresh Mex is one of the sources of controversy in our family. Our family has eaten at Mijos location on Park Row for years, mostly my wife and daughter, seldom me or my son. My wife and daughter loves their style of food. I don’t. This means I have had to go along unwillingly of several occasions and the best I’ve every had was barely passable.(no jokes, please) So when Mijos opened up this location in a failed restaurant location on the north side of I-20 across from Hooters, my wife was thrilled. I was less than enthusiastic. So there are two sides to this review. She went there with her gal pals and they all enjoyed their enchiladas. She says«give it 4 Stars». I went with my son and his girlfriend. She liked her food. I ordered chicken fajitas chalupas and my son ordered their mixed fajitas and we both hated our food. Us men say — 2 Stars. The beef fajitas were overcooked to a crisp. I mean beef jerky in texture and burned grit in flavor. The chicken fajita meat was totally bland and if this chicken had ever been marinated, Mijos cooked the juices entirely out of it. The flour tortillas had also been in their foil too long, they were dried out and inedible. By the way, they do have some great salsas. At least three different ones to try.(See, I’m being fair and even-handed here.) The women in our family liked the food, the men in our family did not. The battle of the sexes goes on.
