I can’t believe this place is closed. They had the best Caesar salad ever. And their bread was amazing and so was the gelato. #Heartbreaking

Tagliatella is officially closed for good and this is sad. This place has delicious house made pasta. Mix up your pasta and sauce combo every time you go for a new experience every time. I love their stuffed pastas. Their sangria is delicious and the pitcher of it is very reasonably priced for the amount you get! I would recommend only buying the sangria in pitcher quantity. I rate 5 stars because the whole experience is great. There’s also outdoor seating for warmer nights. Some say not all of their sauces are 5 star but I like it and you have to give it a try!

«Leave the gun. Take the cannoli…» «Wait…leave the cannoli too» La Tagliatella is a sad place. They have a beautiful space in Clarendon, decent décor, but the food is so far from where it needs to be. Had an order of mussels and a pizza. Mussels weren’t fresh and several lay unopened in my bowl. The sauce must have been made with Dijon mustard; a poor combination. The pizza faired no better. This place needs to get its act in gear fast, otherwise it will follow the path of all the restaurants in this location before it.

Happy hour Mon — FRI4pm — 8pm, SAT&SUN11am — 4pm. Excellent food, service, and environment. Decent music that is NOT too loud but good for background so you can actually hold a conversation. Normal prices are reasonable when not during happy hour. Beer is good, 3 types of beer(one local) on tap plus a good selection of wine and other drinks. Juice for kids is orange, cranberry, and pineapple. The food is excellent and our son ate one pizza and half of another(a first for him and testament to the quality). Service was quick and very friendly. Seating in restaurant area and bar area. Location is near Trader Joe’s and Clarendon metro stop. Very convenient with garage and street parking near by. I will definitely come back. I would give more stars if I could.

Not good not bad. Mediocre at best. Left this place feeling bleh. Both the service and the food weren’t impressive. The food wasn’t very flavorful and tasted bland. We got a pepperoni and sausage pizza and a tagliatelle pasta with bolognese sauce, nothing special. The one redeeming quality was the bruschetta appetizer

I really want this place to be good if not decent… It’s just terrible. –Shrimp in pasta were still frozen –Staff was nice… but incompetent(not fair to take the review down for a bad waitress… just bonus) –Pasta quality is on par with frozen section at Harris Teeter –The two different sauces we tried just weren’t very good(that’s being nice) –Maybe the bar is okay… But I wouldn’t recommend eating here

One word: terrible. More words: I’m not reviewing the service(which was pretty bad) because there’s so much to say about the food. The cooked dishes are mediocre. Poorly seasoned, at best. The caprese salad however was disheartening. If I pay $ 14 for a tomato with a bit of mozzarella and basil I expect it to taste better than water, better than the hydroponic Roma tomato you find at a crappy grocery store. The generic buffalo mozzarella you get at Giant is better, for sure. And then after 20 minutes of eating my depressing tomato the food poisoning showed it’s effects. The terrible tasting tomato was probably not even properly washed. I would have forgiven that if at least it tasted decently.

Average Italian restaurant. Quality of the food is far below what they charge. My grandparents on both sides were either born in Italy or their parents were born in Italy, so I have somewhat high standards.

Came in with friends for Brunch. I got there at 11:00 and they didn’t open the door until 11:10…well actually after I called and asked them to open the door(Burrr) it was cold out. I get in, my party apparently forgot to tell me it was a 11:30 reservation, the server was great about it though. My friend arrived, and he got us rolls. The rolls were like rocks, we thought maybe there were hard crusted rolls, but no. I took one and tried to pry it open. I called the waiter over and handed it to him, he rushed off and brought fresh ones. I was bothered by the fact that I’m sure we got some rolls that were tossed in last night and they tried to pass them off as fresh. My cappuccino came and it was probably 75% foam, not hot at all. I started getting antsy about how the kitchen might actually prepare the food. I ended up ordering steak and eggs. I was shocked when it came back, it was tasty, and it kinda redeemed the place because we had a rough start. The mimosa and bellini’s were 3 bucks, and they were stronger, and good. I’d come back again, but not first thing in the A. M

We came here for New Year’s Eve without a reservation. We were fully prepared to wait awhile for a table or bar seats, but their hostess found us a table right then and there. Our waitress was very quick to bring us water, take drink orders, and give us the specials. She seemed a bit flustered(no doubt because it was SO busy), but she remained chipper w/us even after we saw another table snap at her. We quickly decided on entrees and our NYE dinner was on its way! My husband, being the cheese fan that he is, decided on the Quattro Formaggi. He very much enjoyed that the blend of cheeses as well as the handmade pasta(pasta is *always* better when its handmade, IMO). I decided on the Casalinga Mezza Luna. And it was really good. Savory and sweet and just creamy enough. Overall our experience was great and a lot of it had to do w/the attentiveness of our server. She always approached our table w/a smile. I would definitely eat here again.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed my experience here, which is why I’m rounding up, but the food didn’t really blow me away. The restaurant has a lively ambiance and was definitely on the louder side as far as upscale restaurants go. There was ample booth format seating, which I like, and added to warm environment. Our waiter was awesome and took the time to patiently help my friend order from the extensive selection of pasta and sauce combinations available. La tagliatella lets you custom choose pasta(with illustrations) and sauce(with descriptions) combination. My friend chose the light cream truffle sauce with fried egg on top of a stuffed mozzarella pasta, which turned out to be delicious, albeit fairly heavy as Italian food often is. I ordered the affumicato, a salad with lump crab stuffed salmon and shrimp. At $ 17 a plate, the dish only came with two rolls of smoked salmon wrapped around crab, a lot less than I had expected. The salad also was served with caramelized tomato, which literally was a whole tomato covered with caramelized sugar. Very interesting. The honey and pistachio vinagrette was a unique flavor I had never tried, and paired well with the salad. Overall, fairly tasty, albeit a little strange. All in all, in addition to splitting a bottle of half priced wine among four friends, I paid about $ 23 plus tip for the meal. I enjoyed my night here, but probably would rather try some place new.

The interior décor features a rustic Tuscan color palette and warm lighting. This facilitates a traditional yet comfortable dining experience. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the mood for pizza at the bar or a hand-crafted pasta dish, La Tagliatella won’t disappoint. I think the hero is the high quality ingredients they use here. For example, the 00 Ganite flour is used for the pizza dough, copious artisan cheese options(i.e. Bufala mozzarella, goat cheese, gorgonzola, grana padano, gruyère, Taleggio, etc.), extra virgin olive oil, speck, and truffles. You can’t find this stuff at Pizza Hut! Generous food portions are featured during lunch and dinner. On my most recent visit, we ordered their Caesar salad without anchovies, lobster bisque, handcrafted taglierine with pesto & shrimp, and tagliatelle carbonara. Everything was flavorful but I wanted more sauce on the carbonara dish. I’m looking forward to trying their Mare Monte risotto and something from their extensive wine list when I return.
+Tip: La Tagliatella doesn’t offer marinara sauce.

What a great place for happy hour! The happy hour specials were great — both in terms of price and taste! The happy hour is a healthy length of time — think 5−8PM Monday to Friday, and 11AM-4PM on Saturdays and Sundays. To give you an idea of the happy hour prices — $ 3 beers, $ 3 bellinis, $ 4 sangrias, and $ 5 cocktail of the day. And the happy hour food menu features $ 5 thin-crust pizzas. No, I’m not talking about baby tapa-sized pizzas, but full-size pizzas(about 12 inches across). So yes, we did feel like idiots when we ordered 5 happy hour pizzas for 2 people. On the dinner menu, one of the pizzas we ordered for $ 5 cost $ 16 — now that’s a good value. The ingredients are high quality too — most of their cheeses are shipped from Italy. My favorite was the eggplant pizza with(buffalo?) cheese and honey drizzled across the top. Yum! The only catch is that you need to sit at the bar to get these happy hour specials, but they have tables just like in the restaurant section, so it’s not much of an issue at all.

#90 I came here for the holiday Unilocal Elite Event. La Tagliatella was extemely nice and so accommodating… I can see myself coming here for a good happy hour. They make great drink and their bar menu looked delish! They provided some great treats for the event specializing in their brunch menu. French toast with maple syrup and real fruit. Several pastas where surprisingly their gnocci stole my heart. And their omelettes served were delicious! Great location and a great venue. Stop by for a good happy hour or a nice dinner with a loved one!

My friend and I passed La Tagliatella a few months ago and decided we would check it out for her upcoming birthday. I had heard this was a pretty popular spot for dinner and there is typically a long wait, so we made reservations in advance to ensure we didn’t have to wait. Upon arrival we were promptly seated. La Tagliatella offers a different perspective to Italian fine dining then what I am used to. They offer traditional Italian dishes but they also have a more distinctive Pasta menu that allows the guest to build there own pasta to his or her specifications. It allows you to pick your noodle, then you pick your sauce, then you pick your proteins. There are roughly 10 – 20 different combinations one can get. I have been to restaurants that work like this before but never an Italian one. What an awesome concept for Italian food! This really gives the guest the opportunity to have there plate of pasta exactly how they want it! I was DELIGHTED to see that La Tagliatella offers homemade pasta! They offer a number of different tagliatelle and spaghetti noodles, as well as a selection of dry pastas. Not many Italian places in the DC/VA area make their pasta homemade and believe me, homemade pasta makes a HUGE difference in the quality, the taste and authenticity of the dish. I was also presently surprised with the wide variety of different sauces offered. The sauces are based in 4 categories; Tomato, Light Crème, Crème and Olive Oil. Each category has 4 or 5 different sauces under it. I ordered the Tagliatelle with Carbonarra, and my friend ordered the Tagliarine with Calabrese style. My dish was excellent, creamy thick and full of pancetta. It was delicious and very filling. My friends dish however stole my heart. The Calabrese style with tomatoes, balsamic onions, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts and basil was quite possibly the best Italian dish I have ever had. On the side my friend and I shared the goat cheese and caramelized tomato salad. The salad was huge, enough to feed 2 or 3 people easily. The star of this salad is by far the caramelized tomato. Who knew you could even caramelize a tomato?. It sorta tasted like a piece of candy! It was sweet and went perfectly with the pine nuts in the salad. The black olives work perfectly in this salad because without them the salad would be too sweet. For dressing we chose the balsamic glaze which was clearly very high quality. it was thick, tangy and sweet, that’s EXACTLY how all Balsamic should be. To round it out we ordered a Torta Rocher(hazel nut mouse with chocolate sauce) for dessert. It too was excellent. It was very satisfying without being too heavy, or too overdone. Finally an upscale, fabulous and authentic Italian restaurant worthy of being in Italy right here in our area! I will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend this place more. Buon Appetito!!!

A group of us met here yesterday for brunch. We were able to sample the pizza di frutta — honestly, I would have never thought to order this but it is actually quite delish! I would definitely order it again but as a snack or dessert(kinda prefer a nice chunk of protein for breakfast). The smoked salmon fritatta was also very good with a mimosa. For the first time I tried a bellini… I think that now I will have these with brunch. The staff provided great customer service — thanks Devon & Ashley(& Stacey)! Definitely now on my Clarendon favorites list.

I came here last night with my boyfriend. I had never heard of this place, till I found out on Unilocal they are having a $ 1.00 pizza deal this week between 4−7pm. You can only order one small pizza per 4 people. This week you can sit anywhere in the restaurant and get the pizza deal — so it wasn’t just limited to the bar/patio. Anyways, we ordered the following: $ 1 Quattro Formaggi: This seemed to be like a regular tomato pizza with a blue cheese type flavor of extra cheeses. It was good, but you have to really love that blue cheese flavor to enjoy this pizza. Regular Tagliatella Pizza: I highly recommend this pizza. It had tomato sauce, mozzarella, frieg eggplant, parmesan, honey and balsamic. It was pretty sweet but it had a unique flavor. The crust on both pizzas, it really thin, almost like a cracker. They’re very thin crust type pizzas — FYI. The ambience on this restaurant is really nice and sophisticated. It seems like they put a lot of thought into decorating the place and I really liked it. Our server seemed a little annoyed that we were getting the $ 1.00 pizza deal and weren’t ordering much food. However, we were there all of half an hour and we gave like a $ 5.00 tip. So I don’t know how you can be annoyed to have to bring us two pizzas, when we were only there 30 minutes and we gave you $ 5.00. He also spiilled oil on the floor when he picked up the bread basket. sort of sloppy. He was friendly overall, but its not like we were keeping him from sooo many other tables(it wasn’t particularly crowded). I would say all in all — I would come back. The only thing is this place is a little bit expensive. Their pasta dishes are pricey. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed to enjoy their food though.

This place really deserves much more than 3 stars. My dad is hard to please but I think I could bring him here and actually get him to give me the much covetted nod of approval I so desperately crave when picking places to take him. If I disappoint, I never live it down. I’m a food-whore, but a sophisticated one. :P and this place offers all fresh and imported ingredients straight out of Italy for all their dishes and to top it off the food combinations are amazing, especially there pizza I got to make for an event that was held here. Food is phenomenal and I can’t wait to try more of what they have to offer because I have a funny feeling I may move my review to 5 starts after I do. The staff is welcoming and knowledgable, they invite you in with a smile and thus far the only service I have received has been the best of the best! The restaurant itself is well decorated in an almost gaudy gold and intricate theatre style but somehow makes the whole place warm and inviting. The décor says opera wear but the atmosphere screams down to earth and makes it easy to become one of the good ol boys. Loved it! Have to leave a little something extra too! The have a free bocci ball court outside that you only have to ask to use and the provide all you need. AND they just started a Sunday brunch in which I would really really like to try out as soon as I can find someone willing to go.

Yay for $ 1 pizza pies! La Tagliatella celebrated October and National Pizza Month with a bang! My bf and I stopped in last Monday to celebrate this month’s occasion and, more importantly, to try their pizzas. The offer was being given only at the bar or patio when we went last Monday(10÷21÷13). We opted to sit by the bar. We ordered the Salume pizza(cheese, chorizo, and a freshly cracked egg to top it off). It was quite delicious! It is pretty comparable to the true Italian pizzas, very very thin crust(I can vouch for that having gone all over Europe, including Italy, this past summer). We love Italian food, so if we are in the area again we may go back to try the rest of the food.

I’ve only been here for lunch, so I can’t comment on the dinner portions or prices just yet(though I plan to be able to do so very soon, hehe!) but I thought that the lunch menu at La Tagliatella was fantastic! The lunchtime menu is comprised primarily of personal-size pizzas, salads, sammies, and the like, and I thought the prices were very fair. I think the pizzas were $ 10? And the portion was perfection for lunch. The place was pretty much empty during late lunch hour on a Friday, go figure, so service was really on point. I shared a La Tagliatella pizza and a Proscuitto pizza with my dining companion, and both were outstanding. The La Tagliatella has these super thin slices of roasted eggplant and a balsamic drizzle AND honey on the pizza. Not what you’d normally think of when it comes to pizza, but seriously delish. I loved the Proscuitto one as well, because I love proscuitto on pizza in general, but the first was really the stand-out one. We also shared a goat cheese salad, which comes with caramelized tomatoes, something I’d never seen or tasted before. But they were delicious! They’re like… sugar coated roasted tomatoes. Which, I guess is what you’d probably think of when you hear«caramelized tomatoes», but still. The salad was enormous too, by the way, so if you order one for your entrée alone I don’t think you’d go home hungry. The restaurant is what I guess I’d consider upscale casual? The décor inside is very nice, and they garnish your club soda with a lime wedge so I feel it deserves something a little nicer than the yoga pants I’m usually wearing, haha. I think it fits in with the rest of its Clarendon brethren quite nicely! Like I said, I’d like to come back for dinner and see if everything still stands up as well as they do right now in my mind, but based on my lunch experience I have nothing but positive things to say! Welcome to the neighborhood, La Tagliatella!
