Their com chay thit nuong is the bomb! I’m still thinking abt it days later! It isn’t a fancy restaurant or anything, but the food is decent. I kinda feel like i’m in Vietnam sitting in there though. LOL

Was told dinner there would cover the $ 5 door charge for dance club after 10PM. Went there for the worst dinner in a Vietnamese dinner todate this year. BBQ Korean spareribs with grilled shrimp(YES1LOUSYMEDIUMSIZESHRIMP) with steamed rice. The ribs were the worst and toughest I tasted in DFW(lived here 26 years)! Imadequatelly marinated, no flavor and low grade meat ribs which translates into tough chewy ribs. Our friends who had noodle dishes and crispy rice dishes that were equally unsatisfied and regret going.. To add insult to injuiries, we were told our dinners did not include the $ 5 cover charge to get in after 10PM. This is contradictory to an earlier telephone coversation spoken Vietnamese to Vietnamese. Evidently when our friends showed up and spoke no Vietnamese… they decided to pad the bill by add $ 5.00 more per person. NOTIPSWERELEFT!

*Mobile Review* With Elite Unilocaler: TIffany D. TIP #1: This place turns into a club at night Décor: 3.5÷5 –You’ll notice the large stage and lighting in the ceiling –A few TVs set up around Service: 3⁄5 –Service was about average. Food Presentation: 4⁄5 Taste: 4⁄5 –Viet Coffee here wasn’t as bitter and I enjoyed it alot –Portions were family-friendly I would come back here again only if it was convenient. I’d rather go to Phở Palace.

I’ve been here a few times and just have to take a star back. I’ve tried a couple more dishes and I felt that 4 stars was a little too generous because not everything was awesome. Their bun bo hue was a little too greasy and a little bland. Where’s the spice? I barely broke a sweat eating this. Their stir-fry noodles are pretty greasy as well but tasty. Just cut the grease with something. It’s not something I would eat alone(the plate is HUGE!) I ordered their Thai basil escargot dish. It came with 12 big and plump snails drenched in sauce. The sauce was missing something– flavor? The escargot meat was a little too chewy for my liking too. Honestly, I’ve eaten better escargot from a food vendor in Hong Kong. I’ll be back though. their menu is vast so I’m bound to find something I like: P P. S. They serve a WEAK pot of hot tea. Ask for it a little stronger and it might come out normal. :)

Ive been here twice for phở and I will prolly be back. This inside is large and nice looking. Not what I was expecting from the outside. Service was about typical but the second time I went my water was pretty much empty… Typical. The phở has a strong spice flavor that Im not sure just what it is. Maybe cinnamon or the star anise? Not sure. Its just stronger than I like and stronger than any I’ve had in Arlington. They are having a $ 3.99 dine in special which you just cant beat. That really kicks arse! $ 8.62 for two bowls plus tax? Wow.

There are many Viet and Chinese establishments in east Arlington, and competition is undeniable fierce. Kim Hong is in the same strip mall as Thanh-Thanh, Le’s Fire Pot, and Phở 95. The exterior of Kim Hong is a little deceptive. Okay… shady. The interior is filled with heavy wood tables and chairs, several flat screen monitors with Viet TV, and a stage and sound system for live music. We ordered Goi Cuon — fresh spring rolls with peanut hoisin sauce, Banh Hoi Thit Nuong — grilled pork with tiny rice noodles, Suon Heo Rim — pork riblets, and Hu Tieu — a pork and noodle soup. The goi cuon were average. I’ve had much better. The thit nuong was really goood and tasty. The wife finished all her riblets and didn’t share even one. The hu tieu was full of delicious yellow noodles and on the bottom of the bowl was a layer of clear, gelatinous rice noodles. Pork meatballs, thick sliced pork with fat, barbecued pork, and prawns filled the bowl with meaty goodness. But the broth was too bland, and it took alot of nuoc cham and hoisin sauce to get the soup happnin’. The service was super nice. In fact, after we ordered the waiter returned and apologized for a dragon ceremony that was about to start. Soon, a large group of youths arrived with drums and costumes and performed a ritual outside and inside the restaurant to celebrate the Luner New Year. Dancing dragons, fan-waving pot-bellied characters, drums. No complaints from me.
