I am very disappointed with secretary staff in this office. After reading such great reviews about Dr. Lawson, I wanted to set up a new patient visit since I am new to the area. Last Monday, I called to set up the appointment. I had already checked with my insurance company and Dr. Lawson was in my network. Upon calling, I was told by a secretary(whose name I did not get) that she would call me back because she had to double check to see if my insurance was accepted. I already knew that it was but I gave her my name and phone number expecting a call back. Two days later, I called and left a voicemail because I still had no answer. It has now been a week and still no call. I am no longer interested in Dr. Lawson’s services. Having worked for a hospital held with high standards, I suggest this office gets some new staff.

The thought of finding a new Primary Care Physician had me a bit stressed, but within a few minutes of meeting Dr. Lawson I knew I was in good hands. She was gentle, thorough, caring and an absolute professional. As good as it gets.

I really just cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lawson. She is wonderful, fun, and realistic in advice she recommends. She takes her time to address any concerns you might have, and as another reviewer mentioned, she focuses on what is important. Her office is great, and her receptionist, Shannon, is also a rock star. Convenient location even if you don’t live in Arlington(which I do not), parking is easy, and rest assured you will be thrilled to find such a wonderful doctor.

Just moved to DC and was trying to find a new family doctor. I had to wait over 5 weeks to get my first appointment with Dr. Lawson. After the first appointment with her, I was so happy to wait for it and also understood why it would take so long to see her. Just like other reviews, Dr. Lawson takes her time with every patient. She is very detail oriented, caring and professional. Amazing doctor!!!

Dr. Lawson has been my Dr. for years and I would never see anyone else. I have never had a Dr care so much for her patients and take the time to get to know you and really listen to your problems and is a take action person. I love her office, the atmosphere and have never had a bad experience.

Dr. Karen Lawson is friendly and welcoming, and the receptionist, Laura is hysterical. Dr. Lawson is my PCP. Dr. Lawson was great about answering questions and very attentive. Another reviewer mentioned that she only focuses on what is important, and I definitely agree. The location is convenient and there is a free parking lot. I feel very comfortable with her and I’m happy to finally have a PCP in the area.

There is definitely something sketchy and illegal going on here– not necessarily with the doctor, but with the receptionist. It took me about 5 times calling during normal business hours to get someone on the phone to make my first appointment for 3 weeks later, and upon making it she took my credit card information over the phone to «hold my appointment». I assumed that she would just use that credit card when I came in to pay my co-pay and whatnot. I unfortunately had to cancel the appointment later on, so I called 5 days before the appointment to cancel and had to leave a message. The night before my appointment was scheduled, I received an e-mail from a non-business e-mail address confirming my appointment for the following day, so I tried calling again to confirm cancellation, and again no answer. I didn’t go to it, and about 10 minutes after my appointment time, I had a $ 75 charge on my card from Dr. Lawson’s office. I was never told of any policies or charges that I would incur if I had to cancel, so I called to ask about them and I left a message– I also responded to the e-mail I had received explaining that I had tried to cancel and I’d like the charge refunded to me. I never received an answer. After a few days of calling, I finally got a hold of the receptionist and told her what had happened, and she panicked and told me I was absolutely right and should never give my credit card information to anyone over the phone, and that she would talk to the doctor to help me get my money back. She called me back about 10 minutes later to tell me she was going to «eat the charge herself and not even tell the doctor because she didn’t want to get her involved». She was going to refund me the money and put the charge on HER credit card. This was a Thursday, and she promised me my money by the following Monday. Needless to say, I haven’t received my money yet. It has been over 2 weeks since I was promised it back, and I have called multiple times and left multiple voice mails, but have never received a response. I don’t know how the doctor is because I have never been to this office, but it’s safe to say that I never will try to make an appointment there again.

I cannot say enough about this doctor. Prior to seeing Dr. Lawson for the first time in October of 2010, I had been a long-time patient of female internists at General Internal Medicine. I was satisfied, but then again I didn’t know what I was missing. When my doctor stopped having Arlington hours I decided to investigate new doctors. I came across Dr. Lawson’s name on the internet and made an appointment based on the positive reviews. The experience was so different from what I had become accustomed that I actually needed time to wrap my brain around it. There is no nurse,(I had my lab work done around the corner at Quest Diagnostics, no problem), the suite is more spa than hospital, there is a bonus emphasis on skin care which she also does there, –and don’t be surprised if she’s in faded blue jeans. Dr. Lawson cuts out everything that is(ridiculously) unnecessary and focuses entirely on what matters. We started with a weigh-in, blood pressure and pulse taken by her in her office. We had a long conversation: I have never felt more comfortable, un-pressured and affirmed. I got the prescriptions and tests that I couldn’t get at General Internal,(she’s very near them by the way, so, –in the area of the Arlington Library main branch). We followed-up in January, 2011, and I can honestly say that I feel terrific, and happy, –happy knowing that I have a sure partner in my quest for optimum health(and beauty) for the rest of my life. Highly Recommend.

I’ve been to see Dr. Lawson a few times; I wanted to establish a rapport before reviewing. As my 5 starts suggest, I love her. I love the office itself, which is decorated in a funky, grown up girly way. I love her receptionist Laura, who is hysterically funny. I love Dr. Lawson herself, because she is a no nonsense, give it to you straight kind of lady. She’s both my general practioner and my gyno, which is excellent because she knows how each history affects the other. Dr. Lawson took a lot of time with me on my first visit to identify all of my past issues and those I was presently dealing with. I never felt rushed, and I was instantly comfortable talking to her, which is not an easy thing to find when you’ve seen the same family doctor since birth. My annual exam a few months later was relaxed and as comfortable as that can be – she even offered me a chocolate after, which cracked me up. I needed to see her last week when I was overcome with seasonal flu, and she worked me in the same day. As long as I live here, she’ll definitely be my doctor!

I have been to see Dr. Lawson several times. She is always courteous, helpful, and professional. I even recommended her to a friend. When I went back after my friend had been there Dr. Lawson mentioned having seen my friend and thanked me for the referral. She does not make me wait long, she takes her time talking to me and getting to know me. I do not feel rushed at all in her office unlike so many other doctors. She also seems to care about my well being. The receptionist is fun and funny as well as friendly. They are willing to provide me the services I need and I appreciate them greatly for it.

I love Dr. Lawson. She has been my primary care physician since I moved to DC eight years ago. Her office is so thoughtfully put together, and she has such a sweet way of interacting with patients. I feel more like she’s family than a doctor. She’s had a number of front desk people through the years but they’ve all been competent and always call me back when I need something. I know Dr. Lawson doesn’t take too many new patients so if you can get in with her, do it!

Dr. Lawson is the absolute best doctor I have ever been to. She is personable, caring and always wants to go above and beyond to help you. She remembers you and closely follows up. Her assistant, Kelly, is really nice and is always very responsive, which is much appreciated. The office is more like a day spa than a doctor’s office. It’s not sterile like a lot of doctor’s offices– it’s low key, mellow and relaxing. I recently moved to California and am incredibly sad becaues it is really hard to find a good doctor and she cannot be replaced! I don’t know if Dr. Lawson is taking new patients, but I highly recommend her to anyone.
