This place has changed name to Beatriz Barbershop or something like that. The guys here are very skilled. I usually get a haircut with Erick or Gabriel — both are great. It’s a lot harder to get an appointment with Gabriel. I think prices are a bit high in comparison to other places in the area. It’s 17 bucks for a regular haircut and of course you have to tip your barber. I give it 4 stars coz of the price. Ive been to comparable places and prices are about 13 bucks or so.

Place is always packed! Definitely make an appointment before coming. My boys always come to Gabriel(we travel to see him, he’s that good). If he’s not available, Mr. Syed is pretty good too. Gabriel is typically punctual, it’s rare for him to run late. You do have to book at least 2 weeks ahead for a desired spot on Fridays or Saturdays.

This is the closest barbershop on the Pike. Pretty much everybody here has an above average cutting skills, to include the women. What I don’t like are the prices, and the fact you have to make an appointment to get cut. They do allow walk-ins, but stand by for a long wait to get into chair. Price wise decent. If you are expecting face & haircut, get ready to shell out $ 34.

Advertise they take appointments. However, they don’t keep them. I had an appointment scheduled and walked in on time. The barber requested(Julian) had just sat a customer five minutes before my appointment time. Not good for business practices and I’m taking my business somewhere else. Wouldn’t recommend this barbershop.

Yes, this is a large modern but simple barber shop. Haircuts are $ 16.00 and I was very pleased with the service. The barber shaved around my ears and next with a straight razor and took great care throughout. No rushing here, just good haircuts. The only problem is it is difficult to find parking in the area.

the best military barbershop in the whole world and you know, i have been around the world. they always make me look good for the last 18 years. i ahve been a customer since they were in the riggidy raggedy Adams Mall! Wow, that was long ago and manage to make me look professional. Only a few remained from the old barbershop and they became the big ‘honcho’ and very professional barbers! the new guys are as good themselves and have their own following(people-customers). They even have little shop and water. clean. and very friendly staff. well, you’ll see me there every other week get my beauty fiX!!!

I was on vacation in DC and had Izalco recommended to me for my first flattop. I wasn’t disappointed. Gabriel was extremely competent, although a little hesitant to go as short as I wanted at first. I guess it’s not every day someone walks in with a business cut and asks for a horseshoe flattop! I was very happy with the result. Lather shaved back and sides and super short on top, although i had to ask him to take the landing strip shorter a couple of times. The landing strip was a bit wider than I actually wanted(having my hair cut facing away from the mirror, I hadn’t noticed this until too late), but to his credit Gabriel himself explained that he would cut it slightly differently the next time, higher on the sides and with a thinner strip in the middle, explaining that it takes a while to perfect a cut with new customers. The shop was clean and friendly, with three or four other decent looking cuts taking place at the same time. I’d definitely recommend it.

I recommend any of the men barbers here, none of the women. Not a sexist thing, but the men do a lot of men’s haircuts, especially military type cuts and they understand the language: high and tight, low and tight, medium fade, etc. The women don’t seem to understand. Gabriel, first chair on the left is great, as is the guy next to him. The older male owner of the shop is outstanding also. When the young girl receptionist asks if you want a haircut(not sure why you’d be there if you didn’t) tell her yes and you’d like to wait for one of the men. DONOTGO to the WOMEN, unless you ARE a WOMAN. These guys are still the best at military cuts I’ve found, even better than Sneeds/8th& I. Sneeds is too hit or miss, sometimes good, sometimes awful. I recommend the men here.

Note: The shop is no longer located in(the rather shoddy-looking) Adams Square Mall. They’ve moved just a block or two down Columbia Pike. This is an awesome shop if you are into shorter hairstyles — they do military-style hight and tights, tapers, flattops, buzzcuts, etc. but they do longer styles as well. A large part of their clientele consists of people in the military. There are eight or so barbers(although not all are there at the same time, depending on the day), and a small adjacent salon for women in the same space. All the barbers do excellent work. One word of caution, however: if you, like me, do not speak Spanish, you’ll probably want to bring a picture of the hairstyle you want. English is a second language for most(all?) of the barbers, and although these guys are pretty good about getting through the language barrier, it’s better safe than sorry. All haircuts come with an outline/neck shave with a straight razor and hot lather(or a shave of the sides/back of the head if you are getting an extremely short cut, such as a high and tight). They do excellent fadework. If you’ve ever gone to a Hair Cuttery or Supercuts for a faded haircut, and recieved what I like to call«the rainbow effect»(choppy look where the lines of gradation from short to long are visible), you know the value of someone who is an adept fader. This isn’t the trendiest of barbershops. For that, you should probably go to one of the many excellent salons in the metro area(or Floyd’s Barbershop in College Park, Md.). These guys charge only $ 11 per cut(or $ 8 with a military I.D.)(astronomically lower than the $ 50+ you might pay for a good cut at a larger salon), although the quality of work is leagues better than those at your everyday big-chain shop. The atmosphere is pretty traditional, although if you don’t know Spanish, you won’t be able to partake in the light-spirited banter the barbers and Spanish-speaking clientele engage in. Recommended for anyone looking for an excellent short cut, for a great price.
