Recommended for great cocktails and non-mainstreamed beers. My husband and I tried the Mules: cherry, Moscow, and island. All were delicious and were made by an incredibly great bartender, Joe. They do have happy hour specials, but the cocktails can start to add up. We had the Irish nachos and they were good. They were a kin to potato skins. Joe did say they used to order from Twisted Root, but now they have their own cook. They are also hoping to expand their menu soon. It is tucked behind Twisted Root, so park in back for easier access.

Really recommend this place if you are looking for a well made cocktail or specialty beer. I like the décor and atmosphere. Sometimes they have live music

Really the only reason this place gets one star is the bartender was helpful in finding us a place to eat. The online page said they serve food until 230am when we got there at 1130 pm they took our order. After ten minutes the staff told me the kitchen was closed. Very dissatisfied. Get your info right we are from out of town and chose this place because of the reviews. I doubt I’ll be back.

$ 21.58(pre-tip) for a draft beer(during happy hour) and a crappy salad. I’m still confused.. . The beer(stout from Colorado) was great, just over-priced. The salad(the food is from Twisted Root next-door) was horrible. The first time they brought me the salad, it was completely messed up. The second time, it was the correct salad, but it was just plain bad. It was supposed to be a cobb salad with grilled turkey. What I got for $ 11.99: a nasty turkey sausage patty on top of greens, served in a paper bowel with plastic utensils. It was seriously that bad. Dog food. The place is cool, especially for Arlington, but I won’t be back here unless they make the beer prices more reasonable and do some quality control on the food coming from Twisted Root. Right now, you’re looking at $ 20 for a beer and a burger(which I should have gotten).

Admittingly I am missing traditional pubs that we were able to enjoy while living in London and North Texas is not exactly know for those types of establishments HOWEVER we went here a few weeks ago for a night out and were pleasantly surprised. There were a lot of holiday activities going on so that made the bar a bit congested and more chaotic than usual but all in all the décor was right on, the bar tenders were friendly, and I think it’s a great spot to grab a seat at the bar or by the fire(in winter of course. WHY else would you need a fire in the inferno that we live in?), and enjoy a good drink with good company.

Great pub! Took the bartenders a bit to warm up to us, but once they did, we had a great time! Excellent beer selection, and you can carry in food from next door… I’m told the cocktails were on point, as well.

The Arlington version of Cheers. Friendly, efficient bartenders and a relaxed, slightly upscale interior. We always sit at the bar. Great selection of rotating drafts from craft breweries near and far. Good bottle selection, too. They also have a great menu of seasonal cocktails crafted in-house. This place is definitely a mark above all other Arlington pubs! You can even have food delivered to you from the Twisted Root next door. Cheers!

Sweet bar! Upstairs is the place to be. No waitress but it didn’t matter. Not to busy for a Friday night but that’s how I like it. Great beers on tap. It’s looks a lot like bars I went to in Boston. I dig it.

Clearly, I am a fan. Best pub in Arlington. Great selection of both draft and bottle/can craft and import beer. Full bar too. Friendly staff. Knowledgeable bartenders. You can also sit outside if you wish or head up to the loft. They recently(June 2015) redid their beer menu which was a welcome freshening for regulars. And you can sit at the bar and order food from Twisted Root located next door and they deliver it right to you.

I guess Hooligan’s has grown up. No more cinder block shack with cheap pitchers and a men’s room plastered with… home photos? It’s still Hooligan’s, though. Don’t let the woodwork and beer menu confuse you. Somewhere around 9:45 — 10:00, it will start looking and sounding more like the old bar. About the time you lose your hearing from 90s hip-hop, you’ll remember. The new Hooligan’s is a full bar of dark wood and class. It’s sitting somewhere between an old Bennigan’s and an upscale steak joint. It’s a really nice looking place. Bar seating is comfortable and tables against the opposite wall is nice. The space in between is a bit cramped, but works alright. Upstairs in the back is a smaller area with some game machines and several more tables. Beer selection is actually very good. Not a whole ton of taps or anything, but a consistently good selection with a few interesting things rotating in and out. Hard liquor has a good selection of whiskey and mixed drinks are usually made pretty well. Prices are usually pretty good. Sometimes on the high side, but usually fair. Food comes from next door at Twisted Root. They usually bring it over to you. I think that’s a pretty great setup for all involved and it’s cool to see businesses collaborate. The outside area is great. The spot between the furniture store, the old Freebirds, Hooligan’s, and Twisted Root is nicely shaded and often has a little breeze. Picnic tables and a few smaller tables run up and down the area. A nice little bit of wall art in the middle. The Hooligan’s side dips into the building for a really cool little covered patio with a stone fireplace. Two fair sized benches with a sweet coffee table stuck in there. Complete the awesome patio with a picture of the old Hooligan’s right above the mantle.

3.5 stars Usually, it’s an enjoyable atmosphere – quieter downstairs and more active upstairs. Comfortable and clean. Decent craft beer slection. Some bartenders are highly knowledgeable. In the past, they all were. But, the staff and crowd seems to be changing. Fewer knowledgeable/friendly servers and a much older crowd. The music can be really bad some nights, too. BUT, more importantly, what kind of craft beer pub doesn’t offer samples?! I’ve never experienced that! They used to do that, but no longer. Samples are part of the craft brewing experience. And, I’m talking about ONE sample – not seventeen. With the older crowd, bad music, and unwillingness to embrace the craft beer community, this place is going to end up being a Boomer dive bar that specializes in serving Bud Light.

My favorite Arlington bar! I’m not into loud sports bars or clubs, I’m more into chill spots and pubs.(Rhyme!) Hooligans is a wonderful place. It’s dark Irish-pub feel makes you want to hunker down with a nice Guinness or whiskey sour and have an intellectual conversation with your best friend. Also, the atmosphere surrounding Hooligans has a very cool vibe. Downtown Arlington is booming! The downstairs/patio area is filled with plenty of seating, and the upstairs has a pool table and a spattering of dart boards! The drink prices are reasonable, and the juke-box is always playing good music. What I most enjoy about this bar, other than the ambiance, are the bartenders. They are all extremely friendly and personable. Every time I go, there is no doubt that I’ll have an enjoyable conversation with at least one of them. Wait! There’s more! Since the bar is located right behind Twisted Root, you can order their food from your comfortable seat at Hooligans and they will bring it right to you! Isn’t that amazing? Basically, I love Hooligans very much. It is my go-to bar.

Great little Irish pub. They don’t have a ton of drafts but the ones they do are very good choices. The bartenders were cool guys and one has an awesome stash! Fun place

Hanging out with friends and decided to try this place out… it’s a hidden gem!!! Not for those who are not beer connoisseurs or the bud light crowd. This place is really nice and if anyone is looking for me… start here!

Oh my glorious Hooligans! I was here for an elite event initially and have been back a few times since– consistent is the word of the day! I used to frequent Hooligans when it was on Cooper next to UTA– it was a dirty little place and I loved it so! Now that Hooligans is all grown up and they have traded in the«beer napkin ring» game(those old school Hooligans know what I’m talking about!) for a beautiful polished wood bar with a primo spot in downtown Arlington. We entered a little early but were still warmly greeted by the slew of dapper young men at the bar– shout out to the two bearded bartenders that let me touch their beards everytime I walked by! On Kendall suggestion I opted for the Berry Cider– it was crispy and tart with just the right amount of sweetness– so I stuck with it all night. Twisted Root burger and Freebirds is next door and they don’t mind you grabbing a burger or burrito and chilling on the common patio that unites the three. Now, you guys know how I feel about public bathrooms. I had to take a picture of the amazing sink in the women’s bathroom! I mean they went straight Little House on the Prairie in there, it was awesome! It was well stocked, no smells and clean– thank you, Hooligans!

I came here for a Unilocal event last night and had a blast! The bar is tucked behind Twisted root burger. It’s very manly inside! Lots of wood everywhere, pool table, darts, pub tables and bearded bartenders :) I like the pool table upstairs and extra seating. There’s a nice covered outdoor area as well as some scattered patio tables. Everyone working was very friendly. The bathroom are clean too! Only complaint is there’s no where to set your drink in the restroom. Ladies never leave drinks unattended while they go to the restroom! So have a friend hold your drink, or do everything one handed!

Great patio, amazing berry cider and Unilocalers! Attended a Unilocal Elite event last night and this place is so cute! They have an extensive draft beer list and quite a few specialty shots and cocktails. Great patio, for smoking, and the bar inside is upstairs and downstairs. At the bar, find John, and he will guide you to an appropriate beer choice if you need help. Complimentary munchies snacks at the bar, good service, warm and inviting surroundings make this a good place to chill with your friends!

Hooligans is a nice little bar. It’s kind of a hidden gem in Arlington. It’s kind of hard to find, it’s right behind the Twisted Root burger. The building and décor is very nice, the staff super friendly and they have really great beer on tap. The bartender was very knowledgeable and gave my husband and I great recommendations and gave us small samples before making a decision. They really have a nice variety of beers, it’s hard to pick what to drink. We tried: Paulaner Hefeweizen, Wyders Berry Cider, Revolver Blood & Honey and other local ones. All the beers were amazing and we had a lot of fun, great atmosphere. They have a pool table and Foosball upstairs. How cool is that? I will definitely go back.

It’s places like Hooligan’s Pub that are making downtown Arlington the unique, revitalized, and go-to area that it’s started to be recognized as over these last few years. This pub is a bit hidden behind Twisted Root, so park around back and then you’ll find the entrance. It really is a beautiful space, and when you go inside it’ll feel like you’re being let in on a secret. What’s so lovely about this pub is that it actually feels like the traditional«pub» you read about in books. Everything is made of beautiful wood; the bar, the floors, the walls, the tables and chairs and booths… Dark, iron-chained chandeliers hang from the ceiling, looking almost medieval, and there’s a front room with a large fireplace where you can smoke, if you need to. Otherwise, this pub is a non-smoking facility, so it smells like wood and not tobacco! So nice. Hooligan’s is still owned by the same couple who ran it at their previous location on Cooper street. However, this isn’t a college bar anymore with dollar beers. That time is done now! Instead, Hooligan’s has evolved into a more mature and sophisticated space and serves only craft beer and ciders. They’ve got a great rotating and seasonal menu of unique and local options. Hooligan’s identifies as an Irish pub, so you’ll still find Guinness and plenty of fine Irish whiskeys. You can also look forward to craft cocktails and signature shots. Try the Hooligan’s shot; it’s a green, strong classic brought over from their earliest days. You should definitely pop in here some night for some fine craft beer on draft — the prices are super reasonable and lower than I’ve seen at most other bars. Although Hooligan’s doesn’t have their own kitchen, they’ve partnered with Twisted Root next door so you can order anything off of their menu and have it brought over to you. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.
