Oh, if the number of vendors in this parking lot tripled, I would give it 4 stars. I went to «Georgetown» Flea on the Court House stop this Sunday(today), when I had read there’d be the vintage wares, as opposed to the farmer’s market on Saturdays. Indeed, there were vendors peddling vintage and antique, but there were only 6 – 7 of them! The whole place had a slight air of desertion. Among the vendors, the stuff wasn’t bad. Prices varied considerably from rusty, $ 1 pins to $ 40, ornate necklaces. Some sold some old furniture/knicknacks, clothing and posters. Pretty much everyone sold some kind of old jewelry. Some vendors had great deals(everything $ 5!), others had rip-off deals(I asked a woman how much a non-functioning pocket watch was, and after some considerable pondering, she said, «I’ll let it go for $ 20.» Puh-leeze.) The best vendor, in my opinion, sold tables of vintage/secondhand purses, all 50%. I got two adorable purses, one red leather and one with a diamond-pattern fabric, all for $ 20. Not a bad deal, I’d say.

The Georgetown Flea Market recently returned to the newly renovated Hardy Middle School in Georgetown(181935th St.). On my first trip to the flea market last weekend I purchased two large framed posters from art exhibitions(one from the 1950s and one from the 1970s), a clutch, earrings, and a wallet! All for less than $ 70! Whereas this flea market certainly doesn’t offer the same extremely low prices of Value Village or Goodwill for example, the vendors have done most of the work for you in terms of weeding out completely hideous stuff. Also, if you’re interested in vintage couture this is definitely the place to hit up.

I was so excited when this Georgetown staple of a flea market(mostly filled with antiques) moved from its location on Wisconsin and 35th Streets in Gtown to Clarendon last year. The parking situation in Georgetown is ridiculous already on the weekends, and with a popular flea market to add to that? Chaos, people… chaos. This market is open Sundays year round,(unless weather prevents it) and there is ample free parking at 2100 Clarendon. And more space allows for more vendors, and ergo– more stuff sold means more stuff to choose from. So whether you are looking for a new place to eat off of(plenty of dining or kitchen tables here) or sit on(tons of chairs) or light to read by(funky old lamps with vintage shades).this is a great spot to look.

Formerly located at Wisconsin Avenue and S Street, NW in Georgetown, this open year-round(Sundays from 8AM to 4PM) Flea is now in Courthouse(Arlington). It’s grown(hence the location change), and is now even better for scouting out cool antiques, collectibles and newer items also. I have found numerous pieces here that may have needed stripping and refinishing or just a good cleaning and you won’t find them in Pottery Barn(no offense). This market has about 150 or so dealers and about 400 visitors on any given Sunday, but I haven’t had a star sighting since the location change.
