So David was our server and was fantastic. We were greeted and checked in every few minutes. We had the mussels and the whole dang thang platter. Everything was popping hot and fresh. Also the manager on duty pointed out that when I checked in I would have a free order of beignets

Not a fan of this place so let’s get right to the point: Snow crab legs — You pick your seafood and then pick your flavors. I got all the flavors in my bag… all of the artificial flavors. And the flavor was still lacking. All you need is a little Old Bay, fresh melted butter and lemon juice. The crap they use is unnecessary. $ 22 for a lb of snow crab legs? Not worth it to me. Andouille Sausage — I’ve had better. Not sure if it was boiled and then microwaved but that is what it tasted like. Fried shrimp and French fries — the shrimp was the best part of the meal. The shrimp was plump and perfectly cooked. The fries were seasoned and crispy. The crawfish Mac and cheese — Our Mac and cheese was so watery the waitress took it in the back of the house and added more cheese to it, put it in the microwave to reheat it, and then brought it back out to us. I was disappointed because I read reviews raving about the Mac and cheese. I hated it. And the fact that they recooked a dish that was already eaten out of, versus just making a fresh one for us was bad health code conduct. The beignets — horrible. I had beignets in the NOLA and the beignets here tasted like fried bread covered with powdered sugar. It had no character to it. The dough was bland. I wouldn’t come back here. Outside of the fried shrimp and French fries everything sucked.

I went here with a Groupon. I got there early and they allowed me to sit at the bar, during non operating hours. I had the shrimp. Very good. Great happy hour. Must visit.

I had the Crawfish Etoufee and my fiancée had the crawfish Mac n Cheese. The meals were adequate but not a fair representation of true Cajun food. Perhaps the bags of crawfish would have been a better way to go. Our favorite item that we ordered was the sweet potato fries which were cooked to perfection! The staff was very friendly and helpful. JJ was our waiter and he made sure we were satisfied and brought us out some delicious Beignets for dessert as part of the Unilocal promotion.

We cannot figure out why this place is always packed. The food was not memorable and the menu was basic.

Great experience. Wrote a review at my check in so this will be short. Delicious grub and Monday to Thursday they have a deal worth getting me out of the house on a cold winters day. So many options and cannot wait to try their beignets. Coming out now so gotta go!

Getting a Table Definitely make a reservation or call ahead and put your name on the wait list because this place gets busy! Bibs, Gloves, & Buckets(At the Table) Drinks The Hurricane, unlike most alcoholic drinks, is very strong at first but leaves a sweet aftertaste. «Fried Fixins»(Appetizers) The gator bites are yummy at first but start to get a fishy taste after a while. The complimentary fries, included with each order of fried fixins, are well seasoned, have the right amount of crunch, and are even more delicious with the included dipping sauce. «Bayou N’ A Bag»(Entrée) The mussels were well-cooked but a little on the small side, so don’t order them if you want more bang for your buck. The lemon pepper sauce is mild at first, but its flavors definitely build up, so don’t get a higher heat level if you can’t handle spice. The«Oh Dang» seasoning(a combination of all the seasonings-original cajun, garlic-butter, & lemon pepper) is just as good. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of them «Sweet Endings»(Dessert) If you check in on Unilocal, you can get a free order of beignets-and a decent-sized one too. They may be fried but they’re not heavy at all, and the strawberry jam, which isn’t overly sweet, complements them perfectly. I could eat either of them all day. Leaving the Table You can go to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet and get more for the same price, but you don’t come to Chasin’ Tails for the quantity or price; you come for the quality and the unique experience.

As my previous review said this place is fantastic, but the reason for the new update, in a fast pace crazy town where people seem to expect your business, this place appreciates their clients, and the customer service is fantastic. I have ordered to go from here a ton, it is delicious easy to clean up and something my entire family enjoys, Last nights order wasn’t perfect when i got home, Not really sure if it was my mistake or their’s entirely, but either way, the Manager on the phone made it right with out thinking twice. Even when we went back to pick up the new order, the staff couldn’t have been nicer. From the ownership on down, this place is fantastically run, and the only thing better than the customer service is the food! Delicious!

I love Chasin’ Tails. It’s got a fun vibe. And whenever I have a craving for messy, briny, spicy, garlicky shrimp, Chasin’ Tails is an excellent option! The menu options are fantastic and the staff are friendly and fun. Get the beignets! They’re giant, pillowy, and delicious. This is a fantastic place to kick it on a low key weeknight or weekend with some friends. Toss back a few beers and enjoy the food. I personally would avoid the mixed drinks. They’re reasonably priced and my friend liked them, but it’s definitely the unpretentious very sugary mixer variety.

Originally standing at 3 stars– my recent experience here has nudged it over into the 4 star territory. The main reason why I gave it a 3 star last time was due to the price. The food is priced fairly but some seafood, for example mussels are heavier then others due to the shell. So you get less food then what you are truly paying for. From that first experience my party learned from our mistakes and ordered smarter this time. We started off with the whole dang thang(fried catfish, gator, shrimp, calamari and fries) and the crawfish mac and cheese. We have had both these dishes in the past and the awesomeness has not diminished. The whole dang thang basket comes with a generous portion of seafood and the crawfish mac and cheese is just so unbelievably cheesy. Then we got into the main eats, 2 lbs of shrimp and 2 lbs of crawfish in the hot Oh dang sauce. Keep in mind, the crawfish at this time of the year are not fresh so they were frozen. The seafood comes out piping hot in plastic bags so give it some time to cool down to avoid burning your fingers with that delicious sauce. I would highly recommend opting for the crawfish and shrimp as that offers the best bang for your buck if you intend on getting full. We ended our meal with the beignets dipped in strawberry jam, which are free if you check in with Unilocal! The beignets are really good. I have had Café Du Monde in New Orleans and I feel like these are pretty much on the same caliber. Overall everyone in my group left full and satisfied. I would highly recommend this place to all my other fellow crustacean lovers. I look forward to visiting the new Chasin Tails to try out the charbroiled oysters which are only available at that location.

I love the seasoning here, and their adorable innovative restaurant. They won me over with the toe opener at the bathroom door I really enjoyed both shrimp and crawfish. I’ve heard previous complaints about the sauce being too greasy, but for someone who is sensitive to overly greasy food I didn’t notice. It’s also very clean here imo. Make sure to check in to get their free dessert!

A lot of people tell me they can’t be bothered to eat shellfish because they don’t like working for their food. Chasin’ Tails is gonna put you to #werk, but that extra effort will pay off. The food gets about 3.5÷5 stars from me primarily because the freshness of the seafood varies, but of the 3 – 4 times I’ve frequented Chasin’ Tails, the service has been pretty kick ass, which is compelling me to bump it up a notch to a 4. My brother, boyfriend, and I love coming here to get super intimate with our crustacean friends. You must, MUST order one of their seafood boils even if you’re not a huge fan of seafood. Half the fun you have at Chasin’ Tails comes from eating with your hands! I mean, how often do you get to do that?! My brother, boyfriend, and I usually stick with the shrimp and crawfish. The mussels were a little bit of a letdown since you get so few per pound… same goes for the snow crab legs. As I’ve mentioned before, the freshness of the crawfish varies. It all depends on your luck and whether or not the crawfish are in season. Chasin’ Tails gives you a couple of sauce options for their seafood boils, but I normally just go with the«Oh Dang!» sauce(hot) for everything because it burns soooo good. Your stomach might hurt(a lot) the next morning, but it’s worth it; I risk it every time. The Whole Dang Thang(a big ass basket of calamari, catfish, gator, and shrimp on a bed of fries) can feed about 3 people. It’s perfect for sharing! I have also tried the Crawfish Mac & Cheese and Crawfish Étouffée; both are quite delicious and have left me feeling satisfied every time. I can’t forget about their beignets(comes with strawberry jam), which you can get for FREE with a Unilocal check-in! I highly recommend Chasin’ Tails if you’re looking for a really fun and delicious meal. It’s a great place to let loose and have some fun while nomming. — Limited garage parking — Street parking exists, but is annoying — You can find sinks at the back of the restaurant — Moist towelettes. You’ll need them for the ride home because your hands will still smell saucy.

Delicious! Would have been 5 stars, except the kitchen was having major issues the day we went(multiple things we ordered were missing, same with the table behind us). The staff was very nice about it, though, once we brought it up. We got the fried green tomatoes and the mixed seafood«Bayou Catch» bag with the«Oh Dang» sauce — it was great! The sauce was spicy, but not too spicy, and super garlicky, which I love(my fingers smelled like garlic for like a day afterwards, haha — this is a MESSY meal! But fun). Of course, for dessert we had beignets — yum!

I don’t live in Virginia anymore, but when I do, this place is a MUSTVISIT! Service and food have been consistently great. As a creature of habit, I always get the shrimp with garlic butter and mild and it’s never steered me wrong. I also highly recommend the sweet potato fries.

Come here for the seafood. That’s what they do best here! The crawfish were very fresh and flavorful! Not over-cooked or anything like that. I also enjoyed the Gator Bites and the fries that come with them. The gumbo was a little disappointing… it had a good heat and a good amount of flavor, but it was just missing something. It was also white and clear — shouldn’t there be some red in there somewhere? The okra in the gumbo was not cooked right, it was SUPERDUPER slimy. I know okra is a little bit slimy but there were slime strings hanging off my husband’s spoon. The Beignets served with strawberry jam were good. Eat ‘em while they’re warm! Chasin’ Tails. Social shellfish-chow. Got it. I can’t comment on the wait. Came here for Sunday dinner and it was pretty darn empty. But it was also when Hurricane Joaquin was off the coast and people were probably all terrified.

Probably one of my favorite places to eat at. If you’re a seafood fiend like me and haven’t been here, please remedy that. I’ve been here twice and can recommend the following: 1. Don’t stress about the sauce options. Always order the«Oh Dang» option, which is a combination of all of them. You will not regret it. In fact, you will want to smear it on everything, even your shoe. In terms of spice level, I’d recommend«Hot» or «Nawlins Hot» — go big or go home. If you want to control the spice, order the sauce on the side with your plain steamed seafood. Note: I discovered a double«Nawlins Hot» level made with ghost pepper — I dare you. 2. You can easily over-order, but are seafood leftovers really terrible? For two people, I’d recommend a whole lobster, a pound of headed shrimp, and a pound of snow crab legs. I like getting the whole lobster tossed in the«Nawlins Hot», the headed shrimp in the«Hot», and snow crab legs plain. 2. Skip the fruity drinks. Order a tall(34 oz) beer to go with your seafood — it all goes down so good. 3. Check in on Unilocal for a free order of beignets. The beignets come with a berry sauce, but they also offer a chocolate sauce, so ask for that, too! 4. Take a picture of your food and post it on Instagram, making sure to tag Chasin’ Tails, to enter into their contest. I won a $ 10 gift card recently. #treatyoself

Need to update my review after visiting again! I made a reservation this time around on a Sunday(it was still pretty empty when I walked in though). My husband and I got greeted and seated by friendly staff member. Our waitress was a girl named Duyen and she was completely awesome! We ordered three different bags of seafood: mussels, shrimp, and king crab legs. We got our order within 10 minutes! We were completely surprised on how fast the service was. Our waitress always took her time to check up on us to see how we were doing. Amazing second experience and will be returning very soon! :)

I’d like everyone to disregard my last review. I was messaged by the owner of Chasin Tails and found out the the waitress was new, had a talk with her and told me that it was unacceptable for customer service to be the way it was that day. SO we went ahead and gave this place another try. We were greeted very nicely(even last time was great) by kind energetic female hosts. We sat down at our seat of our choice and got beverages immediately. We also ordered right away because we knew what we wanted to have. We ordered oysters(PHENOMENAL, better than any restaurant on the Georgetown harbor), fried calamari(they have this unique saracha sauce mixed with may, UNREAL), chicken tenders and fries and shrimp in «OHDANG» sauce. Food came really fast, i request the shrimp heads to be off because that freaks me out and they were kind enough to do that for me. Water kept flowing, our waiter, John, was really great. He checked on us a good amount of time and made sure everything was good– even convinced me to try the fried cheesecake… WTF! I’ve never had anything like that in my life… unreal, the taste was superb, fried perfectly, and had a great dash of brown sugar to make everything come together well. The owner of the store came to our table and spoke with us, apologized and was so sincere and sweet, Thanks Ashley! CANTWAIT to go back and for the new location in Centreville, VA to open. From what I hear they have other restaurants opening in the future– will definitely be trying them out!

Came in to redeem an expired groupon and also take up the business owner’s offer to dine in again– so glad I did! Ordered the usual– bayou catch, Cajun fries and Gulf Breeze. My boyfriend and I left happy and with full stomachs! Dennis the bartender was amazing– drinks were on point! Also props to him for being the only bartender and was always on top of things!
