For a steak house this restaurant is decorated poorly. Parking is kind of difficult, and usually when I pass by this restaurant is packed. I ordered the chicken fried steak because the building claims it has the best chicken fried steak. I also noticed on the menu there was steak but I probably won’t ever order it. So back to the chicken fried steak, I ordered it with green beans and okra. I really appreciate that all of the fried sides were fried fresh to order and it wasn’t sitting under a heated lamp for half a day. The green beans were seasoned really nice. And I went back to look at the green beans people posted previously and their green beans looked strait from a can, mine had bacon and fat and seasonings! The chicken fried steak was a nice patty and was super crispy. The meat was slightly dry but you can cover that up with the gravy. I personally think the peppered gravy is better than the yellow gravy. All in all, not the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had but it was indeed delicious. The service was good and the food got out pretty fast. Oo and the sweet tea was good

Neat little place off of division! I had the Chicken fried steak, mash potatoes, and fries. The chicken fried steak comes with 2 for the dinner portion, each one was about the size of a burger patty. It was amazing I ate mine with the white gravy. The mash potatoes although a little plain was good with the yellow gravy and the fries were very crispy. The sweet tea here is great! I’m a big fan of very sweet tea and it reminds me of chicken expresses tea. I had the chocolate cake for dessert it was very rich and wasn’t that big but I feel like it was just enough.

This place was like an old diner. It really needs a good face lift. We ordered their chicken fried steak since that is what they are supposedly known for. We were not impressed. There was more breading then steak! We got the white gravy and it really had no flavor. We had to doctor it up with a bunch of salt and pepper. I think my grandparents would have liked this place because their vegetables were from a can. Too bad they did not have good product because I was really looking for a nice local joint. Unfortunately they did not meet the mark.

We went there yesterday and it was deserted. Arlington Steakhouse has changed and not in a positive way. The food was cold and the portions were tiny. The French fries were so greasy I couldn’t eat them. The chicken fried steak was tough and the breading came off. The ketchup was fermented. Even though the meal was comped I will never return. It’s so sad that a piece of Arlington history has been desecrated.

This place has that old feel that won’t appeal to everyone however if you can past the aesthetics, you are in for a treat! Especially if you order the chicken fried steak, the best in DFW in my opinion. The salad is always nice and cold and crisp. The rolls are so delicious that they can be eaten as a dinner roll or add honey to them to make it a dessert! I normally don’t waste time writing about vegetables but their green beans, which I am positive are stewed in a ham or something, are phenomenal!

We were here last night and loved the restaurant. Back again tonight with six people and they all loved the place. Had catfish last night, fantastic, tonight I had the ribeye steak and it was so good. Wish we lived closer– this wonderful place would be a weekly pleasure– if we didn’t live in California

So sad to have to downgrade my previous review. I was craving steak and stopped in here on Wednesday night… big big BIG mistake. I was greeted immediately, having arrived at 1920, knowing they closed at 2000. I got the menu, selected a booth and was greeted by my waiter, Taylor. Ordered an iced tea, then when he returned I ordered my meal… chopped steak, medium rare, no mushrooms, potato with butter and sour cream and a salad with 1000 dressing. I also advised him I needed a to-go order, so he suggested I keep the menu. Salad arrived… weird lettuce mix with iceberg and tickly lettuce, small cup of dressing, two grape tomatoes and four slices of cucumbers. Dressing wasn’t the same homemade taste from previous visits! Shortly after ordering, my dinner arrived… potato(small for steakhouse standards) without sour cream, steak with grilled onions and side of gravy and one very sad, small roll, all alone on a separate plate. Within less than ten minutes, he returned with my ticket. I reminded him of my to-go order and he then remembered! He took the order and as when he took mine, he was talking to me as he rushed away from the table. I reall wanted to sit and enjoy my dinner; however, he brought the rest of the order and the final bill($ 30 approximately) and I felt super rushed. By the time finished my salad, he had indicated to me(via the check and carry out order presentation) that it was time to go! Total time from when I parked my car until. Put the key in the ignition, 28 minutes. l…uhhhhh fast food much Arlington Steakhouse? So, my salad was mediocre, smaller than it used to be. My chopped steak(when I got it home and tried to eat it) was cooked to medium well before I nuked it. When I packed up my meal to go, the paltry bowl of brown gravy had a skin already formed though it had been on my table for less than five minutes. The potato was small and lacked sour cream, which I added at home. My to-go order was a three-piece fried catfish meal, with corn and fried okra. Was packed to go with foil; however didn’t have any dinner rolls included. I opted for banana pudding which was sub-par at best. Hubby chose the pecan pie, which was the single smallest piece of pie I have ever seen… the crust spanned a whopping two inches! Overall, the horribly rushed dine-in experience, combined with very mediocre food and sadly under portioned desserts makes this a MUSTMISS next time I think I want to go!

Too much charged for too little«steak» slow service cold food! We were told they were adding to menu, good luck. I will hold judgement for now.

I would NOT recommend this place. Food was bad. Blue cheese dressing was green an separated. Told the waitress and she said she doesn’t eat it and thought it should Lok like that. You could motar a house with the gravy. To top it off the employee’s were all yelling and screaming at each other. One wanted to take a smoke break and the lady said not till you clean all the tables. So he started slamming the dishes into a tub breaking them and making crashing sounds. No one corrected his behavior. I think they need a Robert Ervine Restaurant Impossible intervention. Never will go back.

Arlington Steak House — what can I say? «Well they try.» I’ve been eating here for close to 40 years(man I’m getting old). The place has been around forever but lately has change hands a couple of times. The place is your typical roadside dive. Their last remodel was probably in the mid 1960’s but that’s not really a bad thing. Lately they’ve slapped a new coat of paint on the place which helped cover the 50+ years of cigarette smoke. It used to be really bad but since they stopped the smoking it’s a much more desirable place to eat. The #1 thing about the place has always been the homemade rolls. They were WONDERFUL. You notice I say were. Over the last several years they have gone downhill and it’s the same with the new owners. I’m not sure what has changed but they have gone from the best thing ever to just ok. To tell you the truth, in close to 40 years, the only thing I’ve ever eaten here is the Chicken Fried Steak with yellow chicken gravy. It is still as good as ever and the mashed potatoes and green beans are oh so good. The iced tea is fantastic(you may have read before I’m an iced tea snob.) it is nice and strong with a little bite. Just the way I like it. The service is just fine, not great and not bad, just fine. Nice folks. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars are the rolls. Get them back to where they should be and I’ll bump to 5 stars and I will be a MUCHMUCH happier camper.

I came to this restaurant with a group of coworkers. We were in Texas on business and decided to try it out. The first thing that really stood out to me was how quaint the establishment was. I got to experience what southern hospitality truly is. The owners treat you like you are family. The staff is courteous and attentive. Everyone that works there is very proud and knowledgeable of the establishment. You’ll hear stories of the infamous diners that have been here. They also have a resident ghost named Sam who likes to cause some trouble. Even with SAMs shenanigans I have to say they have the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. If you are in the area stop by and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve eaten here once. It was edible. I didn’t dislike it. But here’s the deal: 1. Not a steakhouse. At all. Don’t expect to get a 3 star prime rib, much less a 4 or 5 star. 2. Their signature dish, the chicken fried steak, is «just fine.» It’s okay. I really liked the gravy. The breading was falling off the CFS in a non-normal matter. Not sure if they didn’t use enough binding agent or if it was something else, but I had to staple the meat to the breading with my fork to get it to stay together. The meat was a little more dry than most places I’ve had CFS. Basically, it was«ok.» Without the gravy, I would have disliked it instead of thinking it was acceptable. Side dishes were fine, but they were so unmemorable that I don’t even remember what they were. Service took a little too long because the 16 year old waitress and 20 year old manager(I know, because they talked about it) were busy flirting with some ‘regular’ in his 60’s. Hopefully he tipped well.

Arlington Steakhouse serves the best green beans I have ever had! So savory and delicious. I wish I could buy this side by the gallon and then bring it home to DC. The catfish is well breaded and tasted very fresh. If you eat here be sure to try the homemade rolls and sweet iced tea — a must with any meal! The rolls are really really good. I am not exaggerating, the are super delicious!(I did not post a picture of the rolls because I ate them all before I could get the photo.)

I found a six-inch hair baked in my roll. Unable to eat the chicken fried steak. Read my previous reviews I did love this place. I will not go back. They changed the Chicken Fried which they famously known for. I am so sad!!! not sure how to show a — star

This used to be a restaurant that you might find on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. But now it is a place that you would see on Gorden Ramseys Restaurant Disasters. Story is simple. The folks that ran the place when it was great sold out to a guy that was a decent but not great restauranteur. Then he sold it to some foreigners and that was the end of that.(insert TAPS playing). This place isn’t bad, but it isn’t what it used to be.

This used to be a really good place. Came here on a Sunday evening and they were out of baked and mashed potatoes. We also received the worst service ever. They messed up 5 out of 6 orders. No rolls, and the waiter very unapologetic. This used to be a really great restaurant, a staple of Arlington. However, the last time, the service was terrible, and the kitchen was out of everything. I understand that the kitchen does run out of stuff, but the server was in no way apologetic, and the regular waiter stuff like filling up drinks took forever. I have gone there for many years, but I think this was my last time.

Newly reopened Arlington steakhouse. It is really more of a diner. This place has a lot of history in the city of Arlington. Goes back to the prohibition days. We have been going here for 18 years. And have seen it go through plenty of management. changes. And a much needed remodel. But The place still look the same. It does smell better since they stopped smoking in the place. The menu is still the same. With little change. You only get one chicken fried steak and 2 sides with rolls. You did get 2 steaks in the past. The steak is a real steak no process patty which is good. A little heavy on the crust. which makes it look bigger then it is. The french fries, green beans, and, okra are very good. They make you pay extra for a bake potato which is wrong. Do not like that… the price is enough to include a bake potato. The rolls were very good in the past…(10 years ago). Just not as good as use to be. I have had the catfish in the past which was very good. I haven’t tried it under the new régime. The service was fair we had to ask for a few things twice. And had to wait for a re fill. But over all the steak house is a ok place to eat. Give it a try. The coupon that comes out sometimes makes it better. This place is not fancy and does not try to be.

Wow, has this place changed! We haven’t been here for several years, mainly because it’s a little far from home. We recently went, hoping to get that wonderful grilled prime rib that was so outstanding. When we got there on a late Saturday afternoon, we were the only ones there(uh-oh). They did take the smoking section out and now the entire restaurant is nonsmoking — nice. The menu has completely changed and the prices have gone way up. Most disappointing? No grilled prime rib. We realized the restaurant had most likely changed hands. We both ordered a steak; his medium rare, mine medium. I made sure and asked if it was very pink all the way through and she assured me it would be. Well… my steak was closer to well done — not a hint of pink anywhere and my DH’s medium rare was way beyond even medium. Flavor was good, but steaks were far far overcooked. The bread was good — homemade rolls. The baked potato was HUGE and delicious — which was good because I couldn’t finish the steak. Unfortunately we won’t be going back. I don’t see good things in the future for Arlington Steakhouse. If you have«steakhouse» in the title of the restaurant — please, please learn to cook the steaks right. Sigh…what with the Candlelight Inn closed and the Arlington Steakhouse no longer a destination, we will have to resume the search for good, non-chain restaurants in Arlington. The two stars above are for service and that really good baked potato.

Sad to have to change my review of this place, b/c we used to really like it! But, apparently, new owners have taken over & unfortunately things are not the same. We’ve been in about 3 or 4 times in the past couple of months & the taste & quality of the food has taken a downward change. They have been out of some menu favorite of ours & on our last trip in the other day the prices have gone up significantly on lower quality of food. My wife & daughter didn’t even finish their meals the other night b/c of the taste. And to have this happen everyone of our last 3 or 4 visits just isn’t any good. Anyone can have a bad day, but consistently like this just speaks of the new ownership & unfortunately I’m gonna have to look for a new place to get my steak & fries!

They really do have the best chicken fried steak in Arlington. I’ve been coming here a long time and would keep going if I hadn’t moved. I like the warm nostalgic ambiance. They were doing some remodeling last time I was there. Hope it’s done. The chicken fried steak here is tender and the gravy is delicious. White or brown gravy? Always white for me. I got a craving writing this. Will RTE soon.
