One of just a few choices in Terminal A. A typical sandwich shop with airport prices. It doesn’t have a lot of space so long lines can prove to be problematic. For bread, you have the choice of regular, whole wheat or rye. I didn’t notice any meat-free options. I tried the turkey sandwich — it came out quickly with 2 surprises: 1. the number of turkey slices were more than I expected and 2. the bread was toasted more than expected… just a tad bit on the over toasty side. I would eat there again if I «had» to… I would probably ask to not have my bread toasted.

Unfortunately, terminal A doesn’t have many food options, but I decided on Allie’s. I got the corned beef Reuben without sauerkraut and it was really tasty! The rye bread was perfectly warm and toasted. It even came with a pickle!

Like most of the handful of places past security in DCA Terminal A, this place looks like a dump. But, I was starved and trying to not have pizza. I would’ve headed straight to the Sam Adams place for a table, but there was a wait. While in line, I saw a Sam Adams waiter come grab some food and bring it to patrons over there. Man! I am SO glad I did not pay a higher price for the same food and gratuity on top of it. I could also get a beer from the Euro Café if that’s the only reason people are still going to Sam Adams. This terminal seriously needs new food options… And bathrooms, but when you gotta do what you gotta do, get a turkey Reuben from Allie’s. It’s not *that* bad. And you get a pickle.

The prices aren’t terrible, but the food is uninspired at best. 6 to seven dollars for a basic sandwich(absolutely no vegetarian options) add a buck for chips. Oversized convenience store hot dogs(think rolling on a hot dog cooker all day) go for 3 bucks. Don’t get exited when you see the sam adams brew house behind you– they get all their food from allies with the added bonus of getting to pay your waiter a tip.

Amazingly good and affordable sandwich for airport dining! I had the turkey rueben and it was extremely tasty :) The sauce was yummy, bread tasted fresh and recently made, the meat was good, cheese was high quality — overall, a very good sandwich. I will definitely eat here again when I come through this airport!
